Who knows what will happen come Monday. Perhaps the court will rule in favour of this experimental treatment and perhaps it might help. I'm not medical so can't comment. But my goodness something has to happen soon and I hope whatever it is that poor child doesn't suffer any longer.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 09/07/2017 00:18

Kiteee yes but someone did put blue ribbons on their poodle...

Cinderllaspinkdresswasthebest · 09/07/2017 00:18

I find the situation deeply troubling too - but am disgusted at some of the posts against the parents.

To be clear, I absolutely wholeheartedly agree with GOSH and the court judgement's regarding Charlie and his care, or rather ongoing care. And I absolutely disagree with the CA stance.

Those who are judging Charlie's parents - it should be in doubt that they clearly love their son dearly - and I've tried to put myself in their shoes and yes, I think I'd be so desperate to keep my son alive (whilst believing he wasn't suffering) that I would try ANYTHING that offered a glimmer of hope. It sits very uncomfortable with me that Charlie's parents are being vilified. I can only imagine, however wrong to 'bystanders' or medical experts it may be, they just love their boy so much they will try anything and everything - and yes, it should take a court to rule in Charlie's best interests because, naturally, emotions are involved when it's your own.

seventhgonickname · 09/07/2017 00:19

Maybe if he can be safely transferred to America or the Vatican then at least the patients and staff at GOSH can get on with things which are difficult enough without this histeria.
Sadly for Charlie nothing will change. His parents have now backed themselves so far into a corner that there is no where else for them to go and no room for them to accept that their child cannot survive or have any quality of life.I also think that sadly when this all inevitably ends their relationship will disintigrate,it is too much.

smilingmind · 09/07/2017 00:20

In the court proceedings it said Charlie had a guardian ad litem.
I know they are qualified social workers who represent children in court, often in adoption proceedings, but have no idea if that is all they do and if Charlie will still have one now.
If he does presumably that will be another voice in his favour to enforce the court ruling.

Sostenueto · 09/07/2017 00:22

Can anyone remember a similar case a few years back where the parents fought to have their baby resuscitated and went to court? The baby, a girl I think, kept on dying and had to keep being repeatedly bought back. The court ruled in favour of the parents. After a few months the parents split up and both refused to look after the babe and she was left in hospital and kept alive. No idea if she is still alive.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 09/07/2017 00:24

Stopnamechanging not sure why even thought otherwise but they're all from awareness week. Less of a good job hun aren't the UK horrible then..

ZerbaPadnaTigre · 09/07/2017 00:26

How did we get to this point? How in God's name did it ever get to this point?

And I think it's far from over because Charlie's birthday is rapidly approaching. Less than a month. If the court rules against treatment and the parents are able to appeal it again (as some people have suggested; no idea if that's correct), we'll soon be at a point where his birthday is so close that GOSH will be vilified by CA for not letting his parents have that milestone.

Rinoachicken · 09/07/2017 00:27

Whenever I go into a hospital there are posters warning about the consequences abuse or threatening behaviour directed towards staff.

Surely the comments on CA FB page are exactly that, even incitement to violence or public disorder or something?

People have been charged for tweeting offensive or threatening things at people, can't some of these idiots be prosecuted for their threats against GOSH staff? Slander against an institution? Anything?!

TheWeeWitch · 09/07/2017 00:27

@Maudlinmaud and @GinSoakedTwitchyPony there have been some UK monuments lit up for Charlie, but I've just done a quick google and can't see a single entry or news item saying that the tower in Pisa or the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio were lit for Charlie. CA are out of control.

StrangeLookingParasite · 09/07/2017 00:27

God, I actually gasped when I saw the most recent pictures of that poor little boy. This is the consequences of their denial; he is dying, each organ singly or together will fail. The ventilator keeping him breathing won't stop the progressive failure of everything else.
It looks like kidney/liver/cardiac to me but I am not a medical professional of any sort.

And I nearly cracked a fucking tooth clenching them, when I read Great Ormond Street Hospital, hired to care for Charlie Gard. Hirelings. Their dedication through this awful, awful process, reduced to hired servants. Get a fucking grip.

RJnomore1 · 09/07/2017 00:29

Stop name changing I don't think I'm a nicer person than you; I work with parenting in a professional way though abdxif I didn't think most people wanted the best for their child I couldn't do it.

The dax situation - it was bizarre to say the least.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 09/07/2017 00:30

I've wondered the same, Rinoa.
If anyone is holding a sign calling GOSH staff 'murderers' tomorrow at their rally can anything be done about it? Why should people be allowed to get away with calling HCPs murderers, not just on social media but during protests too? It seems so wrong.

On a broader note, I'm finding this whole thing rather scary. On so many levels what has gone on, especially in the last week or so, is frightening.

GinSoakedTwitchyPony · 09/07/2017 00:36

WeeWitch, yes I saw a tower in Portsmouth had been lit up blue at their request, but apparently it's often lit up blue anyway as it's the colour of the local football team.
As soon as I saw the Christ the Redeemer photo I was suspicious because OH was in Rio two years ago when it was lit up blue like that, and I knew there would be photos of it online.

They were emailing abuse to the London Eye and Blackpool Tower a couple of days ago after politely being told 'no'.

I can't see where/how this is going to stop. They are totally out of control.

Notknownatthisaddress · 09/07/2017 00:42

Is there really any point in this thread? Two have already bitten the dust. One deleted and one locked.

I disagree with the parents and think keeping Charlie alive is cruel.

Doubt this thread will be here tomorrow though1

Doubledottvremote · 09/07/2017 00:43

They didn't get it wrong with Ashya King. They strongly believed he needed chemo asap as per his treatment plan. Which was evidence based. It was a totally legitimate plan.

Protests in Glasgow today involved sticking Charlie's face on road signs. Like a no loading sign with Charlie's face over it. Traffic light buttons with posters cello tapes on.

Notknownatthisaddress · 09/07/2017 00:43

Sorry, did the last one get locked because it was full? Confused

Do they all stop at 1000?

Which pic is the OP on about? Can someone post it please/

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 09/07/2017 00:44

Well it's still here

The other one reached capacity, it wasn't 'locked'

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 09/07/2017 00:45

TheWeeWitch I Googled them (sad I know) and they were from awareness week..
The Portsmouth one was legit but the rest nope!

Someone then called to bombard them with messages..then it was a sign they didn't care and should boycott them..

They now want to raise funds for the Pastor. Why?! I doubt he came here with his own crew out the goodness of his heart. Also hope this rally tommrow doesn't effect anyone going there..

Notknownatthisaddress · 09/07/2017 00:46

I see that now, thanks @mumis

What pic is the OP on about where Charlie looks 'bloated?'

Doubledottvremote · 09/07/2017 00:47

notknown is it the photo that shows the extent of the poor boys bloating? Or the one with the photo ops in icu

SuperBeagle · 09/07/2017 00:49
