To be devastated my wedding dress is lost?

BlueAndYou · 06/07/2017 18:10

I ordered it from Debenhams in the sale, perfect size etc. I tried the same thing on in the shop and needed just that one smaller size, they had it online, last size left.

I received an email saying my parcel had been delivered to a neighbour.

She doesn't have it.

This was over two weeks ago. It was suppose to have arrived by 30/06/2017 the latest. After that date, I kept ringing for updates and they said they'd call me back etc etc (they never did), and then they said they were getting the courier to find out where it is. Courier confirmed they left it with neighbour.

So, customer services told me today that it's out of their hands. That is that. I pleaded and after a lot of pleading, they gave me Head Office email.

I emailed Head Office who sent this back to me, I have attached a picture.

AIBU to say this is really bad customer service? They don't seem to care at all.

I have gone as high as it seems I can go.

My wedding is the first Saturday of August. I have a big baby bump that looked incredibly flattering in this dress but now I have to get something else entirely last minute.

I felt beautiful in that dress Sad

I may make up a new account and get the addrress to
Confirm that it is your neighbour.

kali110 · 08/07/2017 13:22

Id possibly then goto my local police station with evidence, receipt from debenams, the info from royal mail and then the screenshots from facebook ( and then the address if you do ask to buy it).
State ypu havent purchased a new dress.
Say originally you had asked this neighbour 3 times if they'd seen your parcel and they'd denied it.
Then right before you leave i'd put on all local selling sites ( and find your local facebook con/theif sites) that this neighbour is a theif, complete with screenshots Grin

kali110 · 08/07/2017 13:23

Thief my god what is wrong with me this morning Hmm

ThanksForAllTheFish · 08/07/2017 13:28

Op not caught up on all the replies yet so sorry if I'm repeating anything.

Dorothy Perkins have you dress in stock in sizes 10-16 here

I also have a maternity wedding dress that I would be happy to send to you if needed. It was made to measure as I have a big bust! But is similar to bravissimo size 14 RC and has bump room for a 6 months bump. It's not the same style as your dress - it's a champagne colour and has a halterneck and a train but I'm happy to send you it if needed.

HurtyTeeth · 08/07/2017 13:31

Yeah, of course he's giving you evils and she's altogether avoiding your eye - they know they've been caught out.

It doesn't matter if you feel as if 101 aren't interested. You press on, take screenshots, all the evidence you can, notify Debenhams, name and shame on FB and keep on it. Your neighbours do not have a leg to stand on. Get outraged.

takethattastic · 08/07/2017 13:39

What absolutely vile people. It's bad enough that they stole something but to steal a wedding dress! And off of a pregnant woman!!! I do hope they get what's coming to them!!!

ThanksForAllTheFish · 08/07/2017 13:43

Ok just caught up. I can't believe the cheek of your neighbour. What sort of scummy person does that?

Can you report her to the Facebook selling page as selling stolen property? Even better link it on here and we will all post under her advert an give her an earful. She sounds like a total scumbag - stealing someone's wedding dress.

Also glad to see you eventually got your refund and are reordering the dress from elsewhere.

WeaverOfNonStories · 08/07/2017 14:03

Screenshot it all and send it to Debenhams.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 08/07/2017 14:13

What a disgusting thing for your neighbour to do!

She has not only deprived you of dress and caused you a lot of grief, but could have got the delivery man sacked!

I would be careful though about publicly exposing her as a thief, as you may find yourself getting thumped or reported to the police for libel (she sounds like she has the brass neck for anything). Inform the police, inform Debenhams - let them deal with it. Though you could ask her/her husband if they've managed to sell their frock yet, the next time you see either of them!

(How much is she asking for it? Just nosey.)

Tinkie25 · 08/07/2017 14:55

What a despicable thing to do ☹️

Ontheboardwalk · 08/07/2017 15:28

This is shocking.

I wonder if they've done it before with other parcels?? What else are they selling, iPads and Kindles??

We all know most companies just send you another parcel if your parcel doesn't turn up. It's only because Debenhams were being unhelpful you looked into it.

As PP have said you didn't need this stress and worry!

LyndaLaHughes · 08/07/2017 15:49

That is despicable. How can someone do that?

Gooseygoosey12345 · 08/07/2017 15:51

Wow that thread was shocking! What a horrible neighbour! How could you do that to someone?
I hope you commented on the post saying that you'd be round to pick up your stolen dress! Disgraceful

Inertia · 08/07/2017 16:02

Glad you've gone to the police!

I'd contact the selling site as well- people on the site need to be warned that if they buy this dress they'd unknowingly be handling stolen goods.

Ineedmorelemonpledge · 08/07/2017 16:15

Gosh OP I saw your post yesterday and came on to say I know the CEO, Sergio and I would contact him for you, to follow up the email you sent.

Can't believe the dress is for sale! ShockShockShock

Definitely get a friend to arrange to buy it. Is she selling for less than the refund? I'd get a friend to bargain it down and then turn up at the door to see their faces.

Whisky2014 · 08/07/2017 16:26

SO. It Wasn't debenhams fault at all.

BlueAndYou · 08/07/2017 16:29

May not have been Debenhams fault but they handled it badly (to start with) regardless

FloofyCat · 08/07/2017 16:33

I really don't understand why you didn't seem to pay any attention to the fact the delivery driver did actually take the name of the person who signed for it, and this was provided to you.

Surely it's one of the first things you would pick up on? Or you would ask for a copy of the delivery note/signature.

To me it seems as though you skirted (no pun intended!) around the name issue which would have solved the mystery in the first place.

BlueAndYou · 08/07/2017 16:38

Haven't caught up with all replies but I did see one asking how much she's displayed it for -

She wants £25 for it Sad

OP posts:
acatcalledjohn · 08/07/2017 16:39

Can you report it to the selling site as stolen goods?

MyOtherProfile · 08/07/2017 16:44

Please do at least report it to the selling page admin. Amazed the police weren't interested but I suppose it's small fry to them.

smashyourglasses · 08/07/2017 16:45

Follow kali110's advice.

And tell your neighbours.

MyOtherProfile · 08/07/2017 16:45

Floofy maybe you didn't read the whole thread. Op did see the name but it wasn't one she recognised.

LorelaiLeighGilmore · 08/07/2017 16:47

Hate that I was right, OP. That's pretty grim of her. I'd be knocking on her door with screen shots of the sale on Facebook if I were you. Knew it - was too odd that the courier knew her name (I know you weren't sure of it but you thought that was her name I think)?

FloofyCat · 08/07/2017 17:00

I did RTFT but to my understanding blue didn't ask the neighbours their full name, or ask Debenhams for the delivery note/details, which might have cleared up the mystery sooner?

I frequently get parcels delivered Blush and on the odd occasion they go walkabout, the first thing I ask for is the name of whoever it was handed to/signed for. It was clear that someone called Kalsuma had signed for it, unless I am mis-reading?
