To be devastated my wedding dress is lost?

I ordered it from Debenhams in the sale, perfect size etc. I tried the same thing on in the shop and needed just that one smaller size, they had it online, last size left.

I received an email saying my parcel had been delivered to a neighbour.

She doesn't have it.

This was over two weeks ago. It was suppose to have arrived by 30/06/2017 the latest. After that date, I kept ringing for updates and they said they'd call me back etc etc (they never did), and then they said they were getting the courier to find out where it is. Courier confirmed they left it with neighbour.

So, customer services told me today that it's out of their hands. That is that. I pleaded and after a lot of pleading, they gave me Head Office email.

I emailed Head Office who sent this back to me, I have attached a picture.

AIBU to say this is really bad customer service? They don't seem to care at all.

I have gone as high as it seems I can go.

My wedding is the first Saturday of August. I have a big baby bump that looked incredibly flattering in this dress but now I have to get something else entirely last minute.

I felt beautiful in that dress Sad

Wow, what a front

I'd report it to the police after screenshotying it

Wizzywoodoodah · 08/07/2017 11:51

I can't believe what I've just read. Genuine shock and disgust at a throughly selfish bitch of a neighbour. So sorry and hope the police can do something to help.

kali110 · 08/07/2017 11:52

Unfortunately i saw this coming.Sad from what the husband said.
If its a coincidence, then it's a big one...

BlueAndYou · 08/07/2017 11:58

I did call 101 for advice and they said they'd log it and look into it. They didn't seem to phased but I'm glad I've got to the bottom of the situation at least.

We are moving for good in a few weeks so she won't be taking in any more parcels for me.

The husband of hers gave me the nastiest snare of a look possible at the local shop this morning Blush

Think I've opened a can of worms!

Do tell Debenhams.

m0therofdragons · 08/07/2017 12:02

Did you post on the selling post or tell admin?

smashyourglasses · 08/07/2017 12:03

What a cheeky little twat he is?! Glad they won't get away with it and hope you've ruined their weekend 👍

PopcornNRedwine · 08/07/2017 12:04

THEYre in the wrong. Remember that. It's illegal to open someone else's mail

But don't pose as the police as PP said up thread. That's illegal too.

PopcornNRedwine · 08/07/2017 12:04

You should post on the Facebook selling page that it's yours and the person stole it though.

SignoraStronza · 08/07/2017 12:05

Can't you get a friend to 'buy' the dress from your neighbour? Just go to collect it, move as if to hand over the cash and leg it. I'd quite happily go and do it if I lived nearer.

lunaysol3828 · 08/07/2017 12:08

@BlueAndYou hahhhhh! 😂😂😂 I thought that this is how it would sound lol!

Veronicat · 08/07/2017 12:13

Make a fake Facebook account to buy it and see her face when you turn up.
What an absolute bitch!

darbyshaw · 08/07/2017 12:14

Wow wasn't expecting that! Have you replied to the listing on the Facebook group? Can you ask a friend to pretend to buy it and ask more questions?

The police should really at the very least be accompanying you to your neighbours house to retrieve the dress.

MintToBee · 08/07/2017 12:14

Have you contacted FB group admin and reported it as stolen?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 08/07/2017 12:20

Why would he give you a nasty stare? What did he think, you will let it all go?

Cheeky bugger.

Sanoffyhighstepson · 08/07/2017 12:22

What a cunt your neighbour is! Get word out in case they take in someone else parcel and thieve it!

GlitteryFluff · 08/07/2017 12:24

I wasn't expecting that either.
Who steals parcels?
And who steals a wedding dress weeks before a wedding?
I'd so be tempted to knock on door (or get dp to) and say you've seen Facebook, you know they have it, they've got til X time to return it otherwise you'll be calling the police and will be letting them deal with it (I know you've called arrays but they don't know that!)

hopsalong · 08/07/2017 12:26

What was the courier company? I had exactly the same thing happen with Hermes two weeks ago. In that case I had ordered two pairs of trainers from Sport Direct, and one was delivered to my neighbour. In fact I hadn't given consent to this -- did you? I trust my neighbour absolutely but hadn't been asked if it was OK for them to leave the parcel with someone else. If you didn't give consent then your bank / credit card will definitely refund you straight away. If you did give consent then the bank will do an enquiry. I got my money back from NatWest ten days later.

Make sure that they aren't still going to send the parcel out if that happens. My trainers finally showed up yesterday, which I am fine with, but am guessing you won't want the dress after your wedding! Good luck. It is shitty service. I wonder if someone from Hermes nicked my parcel.

SprinkleOfInsanity · 08/07/2017 12:31

You should print out some posters of her face and the post of your wedding dress and post it on all the lampposts on your street, and through your other neighbours doors. It would totally guilt her, and let the other neighbours know not to let couriers deliver to that number.

Hope you get it back/the issue resolved. What a nasty piece of work she is Angry

Don't let her know you're on to her yet, just screen shot and wait for the police to accompany you.

ItsGone · 08/07/2017 12:51

ShockShockShock. How dishonest of the neighbour.

Elland · 08/07/2017 13:02

I would message her acting as if you're interested in buying the dress and arrange a time to view it!

Cheeky bitch!

EdmundCleverClogs · 08/07/2017 13:10

You have screenshot her selling page, haven't you op? And keep all information regarding the original purchase. I'd also inform Debenhams, they are ultimately out of pocket here - this is just as much a theft from them as it would be if she lifted it from the shop itself. There really are some scummy people out there.
