To think one bath/shower a day is perfectly adequate in the UK?

I can even understand twice a day especially when it is hot or after exercising.
I did think DH was a bit odd for bathing at least two times a day without fail (even in winter) but DSS showers three times a day! I think it's insanity.

So a personal question to you all - how often do you bathe/shower and AIBU?

Like once or twice a week.

WonderLime · 03/07/2017 22:16

Once a day at the moment (twice if it's really hot). Usually before bed, unless I'm washing my hair then it will be in the morning. In the colder months it's every other day.

However hair is only 1-2 times a week, so each shower will usually only take 5 mins.

Unicorn81 · 03/07/2017 22:22

Shower every morning and will sometimes have a bath at night too, just for relaxation purposes. Feel grotty if i dont shower everyday

redladybird · 03/07/2017 22:22

Once a year...on my birthday.

Elendon · 03/07/2017 22:25

Yes I've worked in a hot office and been on a stuffy hot tube. But the fresh air helps too. Plus it's much better to wash briefly with a cloth and dry off than to shower. I do 'dry' myself with a cold damp towel, when it's hot an humid. We have a wonderful organ called skin that creates it's own bacteria to fight off infection. I'm not advocating never to wash but we really should stop doing it twice and three times a day. If we all did that?

Personally, If I travelled exclusively on public transport, I would wash daily, as I did when I lived in London.

SummerMummy88 · 03/07/2017 22:26

I have a bath or shower twice daily without fail, some times I may have an afternoon bath too. I don't feel clean if I don't bathe in the morning and I struggle to sleep if I haven't had a bath or shower. The afternoon luxury bath just helps me relax but I only gave one of these once or twice a week.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 03/07/2017 22:28

I'm torn between posting:
"once a year whether I need it or not"; or
"I get up twice in the night to shower. Anything less is vile".

Once a day. Or every other day depending on weather and exercise.

More than once a day seems ridiculous unless it's extremely hot or you have a serious sweating problem! But if they are only quick showers that don't use much water, I suppose there's no harm.

Slimthistime · 03/07/2017 22:34

Elendon "Personally, If I travelled exclusively on public transport, I would wash daily, as I did when I lived in London."

oh, so you'd do the same as me. Add in the gym - I think you'd do the same.

my skin is fine btw. Some people swim daily etc - that must be a lot of chemicals too. Everyone will react differently.

bumblebee61 · 03/07/2017 22:35

twice a day now. I started to find I couldn't sleep unless I had a shower or bath at night, and always shower every morning.

40andFat · 03/07/2017 22:37

We don't have a bidet does anyone apart from dodgy Spanish hotels?

pinkmagic1 · 03/07/2017 22:45

Every morning without fail and then normally a bath or shower in the evening.
I can skip the evening one if I am really tired but the morning shower is non negotiable!

SirVixofVixHall · 03/07/2017 22:51

I have a bath every evening. We don't have a shower. When I was a child it was twice a week. (70s). I did used to have a full bath less often (I'm chilly rather than sweaty), and my skin was much nicer, softer and less dry, but now I bath every night to relax. I do think having fewer baths or showers is much better for the skin.

mayoli · 03/07/2017 22:55

Shower once a day, in the morning after getting back from the gym and before going out for the day.

GreeboIsACutePussPuss · 03/07/2017 22:55

Shower once a day most of the time but I find a shower relaxing and blissfully free of DH and DC so if I've had a bad day I might have another one.

user1497997754 · 03/07/2017 22:57

Twice a day everyday unless at home doing housework/gardening then just once in the evening

Ahickiefromkinickie · 03/07/2017 22:57

40andfat once you get a bidet shower (handheld), you don't go back.

Lucisky · 03/07/2017 23:01

I used to shower daily, sometimes twice, but I have now got a dodgy knee, for which I have had surgery. Nearly falling in the shower frightened me so much, I have taken to daily strip washes more, and fewer, rather careful showers. I am waiting for my oh to put a rail in for me. It's shit getting older sometimes.

HarmlessChap · 03/07/2017 23:02

only once a day and not every day either.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 03/07/2017 23:09

I bath three times a week, and wash my hair about one a fortnight (it's curly/wavy, water is not its friend).

Never, ever shower, why do something standing up that can be amply accomplished whilst lying down?

And before you say anything, people often comment on how lovely I smell, so I know I'm not a stinker!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 03/07/2017 23:17

All those who wash twice a day sound like religious nuts

😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Elendon. Totally uncalled for. I could be equally vile about people who don't. But I won't.

Anyway, back to the original question...

At least once a day without fail & it's rare not to be twice. Frequently 3 times. I like to smell & feel fresh. My skin is fine thanks. The environment? As a vegetarian I'll happily go head to head with any meat eater & be confident my eco footprint is better.

Hairwash at least once a day, often twice.

I rarely go in the bath, but if I do, I shower afterwards.

I really don't understand why you'd do a half arsed job of washing in a sink when you could get in the shower & do it properly. Baffles me.

Ollivander84 · 03/07/2017 23:24

I can't imagine washing my hair twice a day. It takes an hour to diffuse it and even in the heat last month about 6-8hrs to air dry Grin
Jealous of people who can wash and go!

Slimthistime · 03/07/2017 23:28

Lucisky, I hope your shower gets sorted so you can shower safely soon.

Anon - on the environment thing - I'm also veggie if that helps.

Maybe I should have longer showers Grin

MJDinner · 03/07/2017 23:28

Once every 1-2 days, depending on weather etc

I'm Shock at posters doing multiple times a day. Who's got TIME for that?!
Also, the environment..!
And - surely you'd endup a mass of eczema and greasy hair....?!

AnnieAnoniMouse · 03/07/2017 23:34

Lucisky 💐 I hope your OH gets it sorted soon & that you get your confidence back. I also hope you heal well. Getting older is definitely shit.
