To think a Beko fridge might put people off a luxury holiday let

AIBU? New business for us - combination of newby and nerves. Is 4 bedrooms in Lakes. Kitting it out with excellent mattresses, luxury 500 tc Egyptian cotton bedlinen, great towels, blackout curtains, furniture from Laura Ashley etc. Rest of kitchen is nice. Had read holiday lets should give people stuff they don't have at home where possible, so twin slimline Bosch dishwashers (is a thing in the US apparently), really good stove, steam oven/microwave combo. Was going to get American style fridge/freezer but actually prefer this Beko which has fridge at top (big, well lit, water in door but no plumbing needed/no ice), then a drawer which is a flex-zone (can be fridge or freezer), then a freezer at bottom. I would like this in a holiday let as I could have more freezer or more fridge. And these massive American ones put me off I hate scrabbling at the very bottom of them for veggies. But I can't find Samsung or LG or Kenwood version of one I want, only Beko. Other half says Beko gaff. Is 750 quid, vs. about 1100 for American but for me it's not the money. So AIBU to put Beko in luxury holiday let?

The brand certainly wouldn't put me off, but do keep an eye on the warranty. Many LG and Samsung FF come with a five year parts and labour and ten year on the compressor, while Beko usually only comes with a one year.

But as others have said, it's all about the beds! Wink

Hmmm, well I am a complete princess when it comes to holiday lets with a list as long as my arm...but, even I wouldn't notice the brand of fridge (probably).

I would also caution about Laura Ashley furniture. I know it looks lovely but the quality has really dropped off. All our living furniture is LA and I haven't been impressed at all, especially the sofas. The linen covers wore thin very quickly, and tore through. The frames are quite flimsy and we've had to have it repaired. Infact we have just chucked one of them because it's too hammered and just not comfy anymore.

On the other hand, your place does sound exactly like the type of place we like to stay in and we go to the Lakes often, so could you PM me the details?

Family of 5 here. 2 dishwashers is a great idea-do not change this. Definitely go for an 'American style' fridge/freezer. If everything else is qood quality a cheaper one will stand out. Yes to ice btw.
Your place sounds like exactly the kind of place we would love.

i want style and to come home and try and buy the sofa you had, or the wall colour or the furniture. Not the fridge.

As it's in the Lakes and you're providing a washing machine, you'll need a tumble dryer too.

As for the make of the fridge being naff, I think it's all already been said. If you're going for the luxury look and it's brands and image that matter most to you then get a Smeg fridge. They don't come out very well in reviews but they look the part.

I'm incredibly fussy but a beko fridge wouldn't put me off. Concentrate on things that will make your guests feel pampered abd their stay easy and as comfortable as possible. A welcome basket with some snacks, biscuits, bread, milk etc from Booths would be a nice touch. Maybe check on allergies and dietary needs first.

Your DH is being ridiculous btw.

We have a Beko fridge, large black with fridge at the top and freezer below with water dispenser and ice drawer and we love it

It wasn't cheap either?!?! So i dont see why anyone would turn their nose up at it?!

If it looks good and works well it'll look more expensive any way?

EnidButton · 03/07/2017 17:17

We have a beko tumble dryer as it was the only make that did one slim enough for the space we had for it. (Apart from hotpoint but this was when they were recalling them.) Ots worked perfectly so far.

We also have Miele, Bosch, neff and kitchenaid appliances. Maybe I shouldn't of go and scrape the 'Beko' name off the tumble dryer as it's letting the side down. Wink

Get the Beko fridge. Seriously only need a small freezer compartment .

One normal size dishwasher.

Don't bother with the steam oven as whilst they are lovely (and expensive) unless you use one regularly (I do) people will not know how to use them.

I like to see
lots of teaspoons (hot drinks, yogurts, desserts, etc)
cafetière
filled salt and pepper pots (cheap glass café style is fine) so I don't have to take mine
a bag of ice in the freezer. I would almost never use ice from a tray if it wasn't us who filled the tray..
bath mats, especially for walk-in showers
accessible keys for window locks
enough outdoor chairs (assuming a garden/patio) for the maximum capacity of the house
plastic glasses for outdoor drinks or wine in the bath or for children

It's also really useful to list what you're providing on your website so I don't bother packing a bread knife/ corkscrew/ sieve/ bath plug/ etc

I second decent quality plain white crockery. Buy loads and keep spares in locked cupboard for cleaner to replace as and when breakages occur.

Your house sounds lovely OP, and I'd have no issues with Beko appliances. I've had a few, and hadn't even heard about the fire risk issue Smile
