To think a Beko fridge might put people off a luxury holiday let

AIBU? New business for us - combination of newby and nerves. Is 4 bedrooms in Lakes. Kitting it out with excellent mattresses, luxury 500 tc Egyptian cotton bedlinen, great towels, blackout curtains, furniture from Laura Ashley etc. Rest of kitchen is nice. Had read holiday lets should give people stuff they don't have at home where possible, so twin slimline Bosch dishwashers (is a thing in the US apparently), really good stove, steam oven/microwave combo. Was going to get American style fridge/freezer but actually prefer this Beko which has fridge at top (big, well lit, water in door but no plumbing needed/no ice), then a drawer which is a flex-zone (can be fridge or freezer), then a freezer at bottom. I would like this in a holiday let as I could have more freezer or more fridge. And these massive American ones put me off I hate scrabbling at the very bottom of them for veggies. But I can't find Samsung or LG or Kenwood version of one I want, only Beko. Other half says Beko gaff. Is 750 quid, vs. about 1100 for American but for me it's not the money. So AIBU to put Beko in luxury holiday let?

BEKO as used on the Great British Bake Off?

TheMogget · 02/07/2017 21:56

Can't see the point of the 'flexible' drawer, surely no-one in a holiday let will fill the freezer.

BeepBeepMOVE · 02/07/2017 21:56

I doubt people in lakes cottage are after all this American style crap.

You're better off getting decent quality stuff that is affordable to replace. It will all be trashed within a year.

PurpleDaisies · 02/07/2017 21:56

Is two dishwashers really a thing?

I agree that as long as the fridge is clean and fits with the kitchen it doesn't matter what make it is. I don't think you need more freezer than fridge in a holiday let.

Diamondlife · 02/07/2017 21:57

Yanbu.
Beko is not a luxury brand.

LottieDoubtie · 02/07/2017 22:00

Get the American FF and a proper size dishwasher. Slimline are a pain in the arse.

No one cares about the make, but no one wants to faff with the duel use door AND ice is a major nice to have luxury.

Don't get me wrong- it wouldn't occur to me to check this out before booking, but I'd like it once there!

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 02/07/2017 22:00

2 dishwashers is only really necessary if the house is sleeping more than 6.
Generally you can fit all the plates etc for a dinner for 6 in one load.

It means we don't have dishes lying out waiting to be washed.

PurpleDaisies · 02/07/2017 22:01

I'm not convinced a steam oven is a particularly good idea. The last thing you want when you're in holiday is to be faffing about with some fancy oven when a you want to do is cook your pizza.

Longdistance · 02/07/2017 22:01

My first Beko washing machine died after 14 years. The fridge freezer was just going after 17 years.

No it's not luxury, but had longevity in my case. I bought my next washing machine as a Beko as I actually liked the previous one. The dryer however is Indesit and I wasn't able to use it due to not wanting my house to catch fire Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/07/2017 22:02

I'd notice. It's not a brand I'd buy for my house.

ProbablyOuting · 02/07/2017 22:03

I love it when there's baking kit in a holiday let- incl scales etc. I never get time to do that stuff at home and the DC love it on holiday. My worst thing is those below the countertop tiny fridges with a massive ice box inside, taking up loads of the miserly fridge space.
I don't want to keep going on shopping trips on holiday, so I need a proper family sized fridge and a freezer that take a weeks shop not some ridiculous little thing. Your place (and fridge) sounds fab. I have never come across a full sized fridge before (clearly not staying in posh enough places!) Grin anyway I wouldn't care at all what brand it is as long as everything works and any appliance provided is in keeping with the size of family that the accommodation is supposed to sleep. Smile

StickThatInYourPipe · 02/07/2017 22:03

Yeah OP I would never rent a luxury place with a sight gagging noise Beko fridge!

Or in the real world.... I dont even know if this is a good or bad or whatever make of fridge! It cools the contents doesn't it?

BumWad · 02/07/2017 22:04

Eh?

Confused
DurhamDurham · 02/07/2017 22:05

I doubt I'd notice as long as it looked like it had been looked after, was in good working order and wasn't dented or bashed.
I'm not so sure about L.A. furniture, it's not v hard wearing, you'll need something sturdier and substantial. My mum's wardrobe doors never hung properly despite being fixed twice by L.A. All of her bedroom furniture looked tired with peeling bits after a couple of years and it wasn't cheap.

WomanWithAltitude · 02/07/2017 22:05

The only thing I care about is the bed tbh.

The one thing that is a complete deal breaker for me would be feather bedding - it makes the stay an utter misery for guests with allergies/asthma. If you're going to have feather bedding at least provide some other bedding that guests can swap for it.

yetanotherdeskmove · 02/07/2017 22:05

I have a Belo fridge freezer I I've owned since 2001, it's fine.

My MIL's Laura Ashley sofas on the other hand are the most uncomfortable sofas I have ever sat on.

thereallochnessmonster · 02/07/2017 22:05

I would not mind a Beko fridge!! It's a fridge. - all it has to do is keep things cold.

I am not a brand snob. Washing machine - they just have to wash stuff. Not tricky.

I'd much rather have nice sheets, a good mattress, etc.

Go for thr Beko fridge!

yetanotherdeskmove · 02/07/2017 22:06

Beko even!

Ahickiefromkinickie · 02/07/2017 22:06

My 210cm tall Beko fridge with FIVE freezer drawers, an ice tray compartment including fast freeze section cost £220. I love it.

LittleBearPad · 02/07/2017 22:06

I wouldn't want twin dishwashers in a holiday let. Also the only thing I put in a freezer when on holiday is ice cream so really wouldn't be fussed with a bigger freezer.

thereallochnessmonster · 02/07/2017 22:09

I'm not keen on slimline dishwashers either. Would rather have one normal one. Also, I just want the same standard of kitchen stuff as I have at home - I don't want luxury stuff. Yes to comfy beds and comfy couches, but the most important thing in the the kitchen is space - cupboard space for our food. Workshop space for chopping and cooking.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/07/2017 22:09

Pink 😂😂😂

Cao. Beko isn't 'looked down on' it just isn't a 'good quality' brand. It's 'cheap & cheerful', not built to last. They also had a bad rep for being 'fire starters'.

Q&Q. I hope it all goes well for you 💐

It's understandable you want it to be 'perfect' 😊

If it's not too late I'd go for two deep drawer dishwashers or just one normal one. Slimlines are a PITA.

Nice quality linen is good, but don't pay so much that you resent replacing it. It's better to get slightly less expensive & replace them more frequently.

For me it's cleanliness, nice linen & providing the basics - dishwasher tablets, hand soap, bin liners etc as well as a bottle opener, sharp knives, variety of glasses etc.

I know the exact fridge you're talking about. I love it. However, I won't buy Beko & I can't find the same design by any other manufacturer. I too, am gutted.

[I did find one which was the same design, but it was beyond ridiculously expensive. It made the price of the American ones seem like loose change!]

NoSquirrels · 02/07/2017 22:11

Link to the fridge? I like the sound of it.

Just don't put a picture of the fridge on the letting photos, and you'll be grand. I think you may "have a DH problem" if he judges the make of appliances everywhere he goes Grin

The "flex zone" sounds annoying and confusing in a holiday let.

The only "brand" of fridge I would be interested in is a cute retro-shaped Smeg.

Other than that I'd be more interested in what the fridge can do.

Plumbed water/ice is better than ones you have to top up, especially if I'm unsure how recently the holiday house has been in use and so not sure if the water is old and stale.
