To think that 'sofa duvet' nights are about comfort not about keeping warm

I have had a long and stressful few weeks at work, I'm 10 weeks pregnant and I'm exhausted. I want to go to bed now but I also want to stay up and watch The Handmaid's Tale. Just put DD to bed and showered, lit scented candles and snuggled down on the sofa with the duvet.

Had 5 minutes of calm bliss before DH came home and started whinging that there was no need for the duvet as 'it's not even cold'. Hmm

I moved the duvet to my length of L shaped sofa so it wasn't even touching him and he's still huffing that he doesn't know why I need the duvet.

Tried explaining that it is just comforting and makes he feel relaxed but he 'doesn't get it'.

Anyone able to back me up? Do other people find this comforting even when it's not cold or is it just a winter thing?

It's comfy. Tell DH to stop moaning.

originalbiglymavis · 02/07/2017 20:01

Oh absolutely. It's snuggly. A bit womb-like, or swaddling.

MsMarvel · 02/07/2017 20:01

I always sit with a blanket when I'm on the couch. Its defo a comfort thing.

I dont think I would use a duvet though, that seems a bit much...

Throw cushions at him.

Miserable git

Guitargirl · 02/07/2017 20:02

Why is he whining? Does it impact upon him at all? Tell him to fuck off.

Huldra · 02/07/2017 20:03

Like MsMarve, I too always sit with a blanket. I have smaller thin ones for summer and big thick ones for winter.

MrBobDobalina · 02/07/2017 20:03

What on earth is his problem? Confused

MyOtherNameIsTaken · 02/07/2017 20:03

I can understand totally! I find my duvet cooling, so even on the hottest day I find it comfortable laying underneath it. OH kicks it off and I'm "bring it on" Blush

apart from when I get a hot flush crikey I could melt glass

Chasingsquirrels · 02/07/2017 20:03

Well mine IS about warmth and doesn't get used in summer, but how is it affecting him - WTAF is he moaning about. You snuggle.

Moanyoldcow · 02/07/2017 20:04

Why does he even care? Is he always a douche?

TiredMumToTwo · 02/07/2017 20:04

I always have my "furry" on the sofa - fake fur throw. I don't care what temperature it is, I love snuggling!!

mumonashoestring · 02/07/2017 20:06

Tell him to sit on the floor, it's a perfectly serviceable surface - he doesn't need a sofa or chair... Oh what, he'd prefer to be comfortable? Alternatively you could just point out that your comfort isn't about him 'getting' it then ignore all further whining.

wildbhoysmama · 02/07/2017 20:08

Me too Huldra. Sitting outside at holiday lodge on balcony with furry thrown mumsnetting, bliss. Will take said throw inside with me in a bit too to stay cosy. FYI we're in the Uk, not having furry throw moment in Tenerife/ The Maldives!

Buildalegohouse · 02/07/2017 20:10

He's moaning because he wants to cuddle but he doesn't want to be under the duvet as he's too warm. I've told him to bugger off and stop being ridiculous and that I'd rather have the duvet so he is pouting like a child.

His sulking is slightly ruining my calm vibe though!

Christ - is he 4?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 02/07/2017 20:16

Meh, tell him to sod off! I get huge amounts of comfort from a blanket or duvet, I have several folded over the back of the sofa for emergency comfort need, I also have one over me even though the windows are open and the fan is on. 😂

Allthebestnamesareused · 02/07/2017 20:18

Of course its all about snuggling rather than warmth and if he is behaving like that of course you want to snuggle your duvet and not him!

Trills · 02/07/2017 20:18

Aww, I feel a bit sorry for him now. He wants to cuddle but you'd rather have the duvet?

Before that I was going to say you are mad to have a baby with someone who thinks that they get to decide whether you want a duvet or not when it doesn't affect them.

pineapplesarentforpizza · 02/07/2017 20:31

I love having the duvet on the sofa, it feels so comforting and even a bit decadent! Apart from the very hottest evenings DH and I always have a blanket over us on the sofa/duvet in winter.

VladmirsPoutine · 02/07/2017 20:32

Can I just be first in with: LTB.

steff13 · 02/07/2017 20:33

I would be bothered by someone taking the duvet from my bed and putting it on the sofa, but I can't really put my finger on why.

Allthewaves · 02/07/2017 20:34

I'm always cold, dh is always hot. I have several blankets lurking on the sofas as my kids love a blanket too. Dh just eye rolls

SnickersWasAHorse · 02/07/2017 20:36

I'm under a blanket right now. I claim that it's for the cat. She's out right now.

happypoobum · 02/07/2017 20:36

Eh? Agree he sounds very needy.

Pretend you are asleep Wink

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 02/07/2017 20:37
