Not sure why you would support a news network which literally admitted to pushing fake news. I wonder how people would react if it was Fox instead. #Consistency

Erm because you said this ^ ayylmaooo
The retracted CNN story was done in the same vein as Fox; retraction and apology.
Okay for Fox but not CNN then?

With reference to recent videos: One of the video's by O'Keefe has been discredited by the people it featured to suggest it was misrepresentation. The other recent one is a CNN producer who shared his personal view of coverage he is not actively involved in and not the view of the network.

Orlantina · 02/07/2017 19:57

It's pretty easy to do things if you just have to sign an Executive Order.

Much more difficult if you have to go through the courts or have to go through Congress.

thedcbrokemybank · 02/07/2017 20:01

Oh and incase you're not clear my point is why is CNN "Fake news" and not Fox when both appear guilty of the same thing?

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 20:03

thedcbrokemybank, I don't actually support Fox News, you clearly support CNN by saying you hope the story that brings Trump down comes from them.

Also, the world is not black and white. A lie isn't a lie. CNN was caught pushing a fake narrative for their own agenda and views. They admitted it was fake. The Seth Rich story is extremely sketchy, but they definitely shouldn't have ran it without proof.

Orlantina · 02/07/2017 20:05

you clearly support CNN by saying you hope the story that brings Trump down comes from them

Actually, I said that. So you got the wrong person. You are the one pedalling #fakenews now.

Easily done, isn't it. Are you going to retract your post?

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 20:05

Plus as I said, Fox retracted it because it was the right thing to do. CNN retracted it because they got caught.

It is not the same thing.

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 20:08

Orlantina, you're right. Mixing names up on an online forum is the same as pushing a fake story to millions of people for months. Please calm down. All my points still stand.

Orlantina · 02/07/2017 20:10

Mixing names up on an online forum is the same as pushing a fake story to millions of people for months

For months? I was under the impression that the CNN story was pulled very quickly.

thedcbrokemybank · 02/07/2017 20:12

I don't personally recall saying that at all!

You literally asked how people would react if it was Fox instead? They didn't because the President of the United States didn't reference it every five minutes as Fake News!

CNN weren't caught pushing a fake narrative for their own agenda. The views of that producer were his own. According to other media sources he does not cover the Russia thing. Do you happen to know his political leanings?

Are you aware that all news networks also selectively feature news? My twitter feed from FOX significantly features crimes commtitted by immigrants. Do you think that's because they are the ones committing the most crimes or maybe because they have a narrative to push??

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 20:20

They didn't because the President of the United States didn't reference it every five minutes as Fake News!

No, it's because they are not the same situations.

You can't really make this up, though. Everyone knows media outlets have agendas, you acknowledge this yet buy into the anti-Trump side and brush off the anti-immigrant side.

MAYBE IMMIGRANTS AREN'T AS BAD AS FOX THINKS AND TRUMP ISN'T AS BAD AS THE NYT/WaPo/CNN THINKS?

Really makes you think.

Orlantina · 02/07/2017 20:23

Trump demonised illegal immigrants as rapists and murderers. He didn't say some of them. He didn't differentiate. He just 'othered' illegal immigrants.

When anyone others a whole group like that - and he's done that to other groups, that makes someone dangerous.

That's just one of the issues I have with Trump. Fair enough he wants to reduce illegal immigration but he 'others' them. And that can have very dangerous ramifications.

BrexitSucks · 02/07/2017 20:31

BBC has a summary of how delivered Trump is on his promises.

The forgotten promise that most peeves me is the Big spend on new infrastructure: zilch progress. Why is nothing happening??

"Wins" for Trump's base is the impression that he drops turds in the living room of the posh. As long as he keeps doing that (figuratively), they are entertained & happy enough.

Orlantina · 02/07/2017 20:42

You can only create infrastructure if you have money to invest.

Or borrow it.

It will be interesting to see how the US economy does.

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 20:50

Brexit, lol really? Alrighty.

cozietoesie · 02/07/2017 21:03

Just to remind people that the next episode of 'The Handmaid's Tale' is just about to start on C4.

thedcbrokemybank · 02/07/2017 21:18

ayylmaooo I don't hate Trump because any media outlet tells me too. I hate him because I find him repugnant. This is not due to any Fake News stories but because of how he conducts himself. To me he represents all that is going wrong with society; the blatant lying (inauguration crowd size), the pushing of fake news (birther conspiracy anyone?), the attacks on anyone who dare criticise him (Mike and Joe), the arrogance to think he can do what he likes whenever he likes (a bit of pussy grabbing). I want my kids to grow up valuing the truth, respecting others and have empathy and tolerance towards those who exist differently to us. And yet here is the POTUS undermining those things. I don't need CNN to tell me that, I can just read his Twitter feed and watch him speak.

lionheart · 02/07/2017 21:22

Yep.

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 21:43

thedc, you're completely deluded if you think the incessant Trump bashing and fake news from the media hasn't affect your opinion of him.

Obama conspiracy was not fake news, it was just stupid. I'm sure he believed whoever was giving him the information.

He obviously doesn't attack anyone who criticises him. Stop being dishonest. Crazy Joe and Low IQ Mika have attacked him for months about his hair, hands, intellect and everything inbetween. As I said the other day, you can't attack someone and then play the victim because you feel offended. That is pathetic.

Pussy grabbing thing was not ok whatever way you slice it, but you're extremely naive if you think only a small percentage of men have ever thought or said anything like this. Again, that does not make it alright, but you can't hold him to a higher standard just because.

I would never tell anyone they have to like him, or that he's a great guy, but the media have done their very best to destroy him as a person. People forget that Trump was firmly in the public eye for over 30 years and was generally well liked. He didn't hide his political views either.

It's no coincidence that he takes on the establishment and becomes the antichrist overnight.

lionheart · 02/07/2017 21:54

Poor bloke.

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 21:57

I forgot counter-arguments are frowned upon in this thread, lmao.

lionheart · 02/07/2017 21:59

Glad to see the NYT can take a break from its mission to destroy Trump and save the Establishment.

Fourth of July Weekend

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 22:01

Poor gal.

Orlantina · 02/07/2017 22:02

Again, that does not make it alright, but you can't hold him to a higher standard just because

I think that the President of the United States - any President of the US - should be held to a higher standard.

ayylmaooo · 02/07/2017 22:11

Orlantina, well I'm not sure why you think that, but he said it 10 years ago. I'd guess everyone has said something at one point which would be very damaging if it was secretly recorded.

Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 02/07/2017 22:13

Goodness. I've been out all day and come in to discover the president of the united states has started tweeting home made wrestling gifs.
I've just spent a worrying 5 minutes picturing a British one starring Theresa May and Big Daddy.
