Roussette Went up to 300% zoom & it fell off the page!

But the NY Times have a summary with quotes.

Blimey.

PerkingFaintly · 11/07/2017 17:00

Jared was at the meeting and is a member of the administration though, no wriggle room for even the slipperiest slime there.

cozietoesie · 11/07/2017 17:02

Not being officially part of the current WH is neither here nor there, I reckon. He was part of the campaign.

Among @DonaldJTrumpJr's many lies: said he didn't tell Kushner and Manafort what the meeting was about; but he forwarded them the emails.

cozietoesie · 11/07/2017 17:08

Interestingly - especially if this was released by Junior as a transcript - is the fact that this seems to be only part of the dialogue. What about the rest?

Gah, missed out the photo

The one where Trump just can't stop being Trump
PerkingFaintly · 11/07/2017 17:11

There's certainly something weird about those emails.

Partial transcription of screenshot above:

"Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting.
"The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.
This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government's support for Mr Trump - helped along by Aras and Emin"

Seriously, who says stuff like that? It's like someone's trying to pack as much incriminating shit into as small a space as possible, spelled out for those at the back.

PerkingFaintly · 11/07/2017 17:15

Don Jr voluntarily published this stuff? Agree with the tweet saying ask why.

orlantina · 11/07/2017 17:22

Meanwhile

www.euronews.com/2017/07/11/putin-poised-to-expel-30-us-diplomats

Putin going to expel 30 US diplomats in retaliation for when Obama expelled Russian diplomats over Russian hacking

Interesting timing

cozietoesie · 11/07/2017 17:23

A Beast piece.

Junior is getting terrible legal advice

orlantina · 11/07/2017 17:24

Will there be a televised press briefing today?

I doubt it

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 11/07/2017 17:25

Sorry rousette, just seen you'd posted about jr getting ahead of the nyt.

Melissa McEwan @Shakestweetz

The timing of the disclosure of Don Trump Jr.'s meeting with Veselnitskaya makes it look a lot like a Russian play to me.
Seems like a hit in response to Trump showing even the most pathetic attempt to look like he's not fully in Putin's pocket after their mtg.
That's incredibly worrying. Putin didn't get exactly what he wanted (i.e. lifted sanctions), so here's a shot over the bow at Don Jr.
Or maybe the timing is just a big old coincidence and just happens to help give the appearance that Putin fully controls the Oval Office.
Suffice it to say, I don't believe it's a coincidence. And this is why it's incredibly damaging that the GOP won't step up in defense of US.
Because if the US govt itself doesn't take back control of the WH swiftly, we're essentially conceding power over its occupant to Putin.
If he is allowed to control the flow of information that determines whether Trump stays in office, we are already fucked. It's already over.
First we let him attack and influence our election. Then we didn't vacate the results after knowing about interference. And now?
Now we are going to let Putin dictate when Trump's potentially treasonous presidency comes to an end? JFC NO. Nope. No.
This is why the Democrats must raise their accountability game immediately. No more reservations about impeachment talk.
This is why the Republicans must prioritize country over party and join the Democrats in calling for swift removal of Trump and Pence.
The only way we protect our national sovereignty is by wrestling back control of WH from Putin IMMEDIATELY, lest he decide Trump's fate.
We cannot have that. We absolutely cannot. Putin cannot be allowed to decide through this media manipulation who our president is or isn't.
It is long past time that we take control of this situation. That begins with bipartisan agreement to do something swiftly and decisively.

This is the last chance. If it doesn't happen now, and we let Putin dictate the terms of Trump's presidency, it's over. We've lost.

Either a slip or they don't care. Two options:

  1. They feel immune from prosecution b/c of prez powers
  2. Some don't feel immune, cut deals

Trump Jr confessed to collusion
Sessions likely committed perjury
Sessions + Kushner lied on SF-86s
Trump admitted obstruction of justice

Flynn revealed as foreign agent (Russia + Turkey)
Manafort revealed as foreign agent (Russia)

But are there repercussions in an autocracy?

Another problem: when an autocrat is boxed in, they lash out, creating a crisis bigger than themselves and a pretext for expanded powers

And another problem: we do not know extent of hacks on US infrastructure, if that's holding people in check. Thread:

(1) Jr. confirmed everything we all were saying yesterday: it was Aras, not Emin; afternoon meeting; she was a Russian government attorney.
(2) So as I said, we will next discover that the official Russian government intel Don got was not "vague, ambiguous and made no sense."
(3) That the attorney now says she has no ties to the Russian government gives the lie to her other claim she gave Don no anti-HRC intel.
(4) And the story Goldstone is giving now comes as he has legal liability and checked in with Jr. before making his statement to the press.
(5) We now know Trump Sr. tweeted for the first time about Hillary's "missing emails" minutes after the meeting he says he wasn't at ended.
(6) In other words, this is coming together exactly as Russia probe-watchers began saying as soon as the first New York Times story broke.
(7) I think the only question now is how long we have to wait before we find out Trump was AT the June 9 meeting in person or on the phone.
(8) The only real shock at this point would be to discover Trump was told of the meeting immediately after it ended rather than being there.
(9) But as we read the news and watch Trump's behavior now we should assume one thing he is hiding is his prior knowledge of that meeting.
(10) Given Goldstone had to go to Russia to set up the meet we know either the intel was big OR there WAS none--but talk of Russian hacking.
(11) Don, Rob, and the lawyer sticking to their stories no intel was given makes me suspect the meeting's "value" was a collusion agreement.
(12) All the Russian government attorney had to say was this: if Trump reconsiders sanctions we will manage the release of anti-HRC intel.
(13) In that case, all Don had to say was "yes," which we now know he would have. He already admits that Russian sanctions were discussed.
(14) We're 90% of the way to discovering this meeting was where collusion was agreed upon. Don just assumes we won't find out what was said.
(15) If I were in law enforcement, I'd charge the weak link, Goldstone, with every possible conspiracy charge until he rolled on the Trumps.
(16) NOTE: nothing in Don's emails to Goldstone indicates either had any plan whatsoever to keep the intel permanently from the President.
(17) NOTE ALSO as Russia probe-watchers were saying yesterday both Manafort and Kushner DID know the content of the meeting before arriving.
(18) We now know that every public denial from Don, Kushner, and Manafort on Russia over the last year was a lie to the American voter.
(19) What we already know of June 9th confirms it was a Russian quid pro quo offer right after which they started releasing stolen docs.
(20) That Don said something to the Kremlin agent at that meeting that induced Russia to then release stolen docs on Clinton is certain.

If mtg began @4PM & ran 20-30 mins, it means Trump tweeted his first-ever ask for HRC’s "33,000 emails” abt 15 mins after Russians left.

"The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father," an email identified as being from Goldstone said. It was the first email in the chain released by Trump Jr., who helped during his father's presidential campaign but is not part of his White House staff
