It's a really fucked up world for many people.

PerkingFaintly · 06/07/2017 20:12

Thanks for explaining, bossy. I haven't read the full speech: thanks for taking one for the team by wading through it! Flowers

(I probably will read it later, but just now my braincells are running a little flat.)

Very interesting to hear your comparison to populist politics in Gaza.

cozietoesie · 06/07/2017 20:22

Thanks, Pain. So it's a 'gofer'?

lionheart · 06/07/2017 20:50

Won't be needed when Trump meets Putin:

Roussette · 06/07/2017 21:03

pain that is appalling.

If men had babies oh how different life would be for them as opposed to women and this awful type of scenario. All in the name of religion too

SenecaFalls · 06/07/2017 21:09

Remember Charlie Young in the West Wing? Bartlet's body man.

Lweji · 06/07/2017 21:13

I've been out all day to news of Trump threatening serious measures (that he clearly has no clue what they can be) against NK. I was going to put Shock, but not much really surprises me these days. It may angry me, but not surprise me.

Also to news that the head of Amnesty International in Turkey was arrested.
Sad
And violence in the Venezuelan Parliament.
Sad

Lweji · 06/07/2017 21:17

Actually, I'm not particularly against a no bare arms dress code for women in certain places that require men to wear a jacket and often a tie.
I think sometimes we show too much flesh when it's not particularly appropriate.
We wouldn't have men in vests in any Parliament, I don't think. So, I think it's just fair that we also ask women to cover the equivalent body parts.

Trump was first U.S. president to visit Warsaw without visiting the Warsaw Ghetto since 1989.

If you are going to make a speech about values, terrorism, civilisation etc, and you visit Poland, you should really really visit and show your respect to the places like the Warsaw Ghetto. Or Auschwitz (although that is further from Warsaw)

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/07/2017 00:30

It's worse than that:

Ned Resnikoff @resnikoff
My mind is still blown that Trump included the Warsaw ghetto uprising on a list of "evils beyond description." t.co/TgfzU0zHKw?amp=1

Chelsea Clinton @ChelseaClinton
Wait, what? Surely Trump meant the Warsaw ghetto (way station to Treblinka death camp) was "evil" NOT the uprising against the Nazis. Surely

As expected, Breitbarters are in a tizzy over Trump's obviously Bannon-written speech. MAGA! The West, and the Man who rules the West, is Best.

I'm also very struck with how they view "the Left" - liberals, libturds ad nauseam. They see the Left as: rascist, anti-religion, knuckle-dragging, argumentative, weak, snowflakes, and inciting violence wherever they go (how do those last few co-exist?). Apart from the weak snowflake part, that's almost the exact view the Left has of the Right - right?

They are the ones that want to build the wall and introduce extreme vetting: why can't they see racism in themselves?

OP posts:
Lweji · 07/07/2017 06:27

What do they base the racism accusation on?

BossyBitch · 07/07/2017 06:37

Having actually met a bunch of these types, I'm reasonably certain that by 'racist' they mean that counteracting actual racism is, of course, near-genocidal opression of white people. As in: affirmative action is the reason why thick-as-a-brick white men don't all go to Harvard.

Lweji · 07/07/2017 06:56

Ahhhh! Thanks. :)

I came across that handshake this morning.
The Guardian clip shows she shook his hand afterwards. It looks like it's post holders and spouses shake hands, then they switch in Poland. Or it was a studied snub because he always leaves Melania behind.
He looks amused after seeming upset.

Well, this is a bit worrying. Will he ask his pal Pootin about this?

I wonder what kind of hackers they were (aside from Russian).

The timing is interesting.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

My experience yesterday in Poland was a great one. Thank you to everyone, including the haters, for the great reviews of the speech!
