We should be glad he is only tweeting as his weapon of mass distraction. His other tool is bombs

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 02/07/2017 23:51

That's grim lion - the html link is enough TBH.

SanFranBear · 02/07/2017 23:56

ayylmaoo - I tried to chat with you on the previous thread about his wins but you never responded so was interested in your list.

Here's my take on it which I am sure you disagree with but not convinced these stand up really:

  • Repealing Obamacare: hasn't happened.
  • travel ban upheld: only partially
  • defunding sanctuary cities: agreed
  • cancelled Paris agreement: not sure I see stepping out of a global effort to stand with Nicaragua & Syria as a win but that's because I love our planet. It is a win for his supporters though, granted.
  • defunding planned parenthood: still needs to pass through the Senate
  • making plans for 'the wall': uhm, plans perhaps but actually building it, no.
  • aggressively deporting criminal illegals: nothing new
  • illegal border crossing way down: I think the consensus is that most illegal immigration comes from people overstaying visas but ok, a win.
* lowering business tax rates: not a win for your everyman, person on the street though.

I'm not saying you're wrong and would imagine most Trump supporters agree with you but there is very little solid legislation there. I don't know where Obama was at with his agenda by this point either so again, I may be wrong - it just feels a bit desperate. There is little in that list that has passed seamlessly despite the GOP controling both the House of Reps, the Senate and the presidency.

I must have a different view on what winning looks like.

lionheart · 03/07/2017 00:00

That's one of the reasons I left it in that format, illegitimate.
A terrible history.

lionheart · 03/07/2017 00:04

... although the bile from the guy who Trump took the meme from suggests otherwise.

illegitimateMortificadospawn · 03/07/2017 00:05

There is little in that list that has passed seamlessly despite the GOP controling both the House of Reps, the Senate and the presidency.

This is highly pertinent. With both houses GOP-led, he should be knocking it out of the park but he's just thrashing around (and starting to throw metaphorical punches). Anyone can dash off a few executive orders, but seeing a bill through the legislative process takes basic effective leadership - with both houses in his pocket, it shouldn't be too difficult to build sufficient consensus to get his bills voted through... This administration is a clusterfuck of epic proportions. The dismantling of the underpinning agencies also seems like a calculated act of vandalism. Angry

lionheart · 03/07/2017 00:05

*clip (not meme). Smile

A Reddit user who wrote about stabbing Muslims is claiming credit for Trump's CNN video

cozietoesie · 03/07/2017 00:28

I didn't actually think the video clip was one to incite violence. I just found it distasteful in the extreme - especially to see the President of the United States' buttocks waving around like that. I had to wonder why he wasn't working on 'serving all of the people' rather than working out how to post that clip?

lionheart · 03/07/2017 00:37

Yes, me too. I thought it said more about Trump's peculiar and puerile mindset than anything else.

lionheart · 03/07/2017 00:38

And another installment in his 'fake news' vendetta.

ayylmaooo · 03/07/2017 00:47

thedc, I don't care about its historical significance. It is literally a telephone poll of 1500 people. I didn't discredit the source, it just doesn't mean anything to me.

I also didn't discredit the BBC article. I was asked to provide a list of 'wins' and I did. I did not once claim he has followed through on every promise and things are going swimmingly. There was nothing to respond to.

Jesus. I gave no 'evidence based' argument because I wasn't replying to one. You listed reasons why you dislike him and I gave you an alternative viewpoint. I mean yea, you can quote his tweet about Mika's facelift and claim that is evidence. I say you have the right to retaliate when being attacked no matter who you are.

People need to stop looking at Donald Trump as 'POTUS'. He is Donald Trump. It's almost as if people are shocked that he hasn't changed or is actually following through on campaign promises. If you're one of those people, that's your problem, not his. (not just directed at you)

If you want to agree to disagree, that's fine.

cozietoesie · 03/07/2017 00:58

In particular, I note that his entire IC is completely certain that the Russians tried to interfere with the 2016 elections and will be coming back for more. What has he actually done about that?

TheClaws · 03/07/2017 01:30

(The Hill) DOJ Corporate Compliance watchdog head, Hui Chen, resigns, citing Trump's conduct as the reason.

"To sit across the table from companies and question how committed they were to ethics and compliance felt not only hypocritical, but very much like shuffling the deck chair on the Titanic," Chen wrote.

Not a damned thing cozie except to tell us that Russian interference is 'fake news'.

I haven't seen the wrestling meme thingy that Scrotus posted. DH saw it and told me 'you DON'T want to look at this!' so I haven't. I have enough shit to raise my blood pressure already.

ayylmaooo · 03/07/2017 01:48

Across, you should look at it. It's hilarious.

TheClaws · 03/07/2017 01:57

Sorry, ayylmaooo, you just negated every single argument you had with that. Donald Trump IS POTUS. The quicker he recognises this and rises properly to the challenge, the better for everyone. Of course he cannot change his intrinsic nature, but he can channel it, or tone it down, or use his advisors. The 'Donald Trump' part is keeping him from winning as POTUS.

Orlantina I'm fairly certain this poster was around on earlier threads and the Westminster ones with a slightly different username - so either a PBP or a GF. Albeit one that can hold a reasonable discussion sometimes. Grin

*It's unusual to have a poster who has only started posting recently and only on one topic.

Have a look round at other areas of MN.*

ayylmaooo · 03/07/2017 02:30

He did the impossible by being outrageous, why would or should he change now? It's what his base voted for.

He wins every time the liberal media has a meltdown over a tweet.

Believe whatever you want, believe the administration is crumbling if it brings you comfort, things will keep ticking along.

He has another three and a half years. You can't win them all but things are progressing.

TheClaws · 03/07/2017 02:33

And I really don't know about the wrestling video. It is just such undignified behaviour. I get it he feels attacked - but why doesn't he see that a Head of State probably shouldn't put up juvenile videos on what is, really, an official social media feed? Such idiocy.

OP posts:
TheClaws · 03/07/2017 02:34

So you liked the video, ayylmaooo?

OP posts:
ayylmaooo · 03/07/2017 02:47

Yes, it was obviously a joke. It's so ridiculous that it's hilarious. I don't know how many more times I can say it, THIS IS WHAT MADE HIM SO POPULAR. He doesn't come across as a typical slimey politician with the rehearsed replies and predictable behaviour. People wanted change.

Anyway, I probably am going to stop posting. I feel like I'm just crashing the (anti-Trump) party now. I'd be pissed off if someone with an attitude popped up with out of nowhere on a forum I enjoy.

I'll pop back for any major Trump victories so I can gloat or if he gets impeached so you can laugh at me.

TheClaws · 03/07/2017 03:02

I don't think 'unpredictability' is a quality I'd want a POTUS to have. Creativity, yes. Given to drastic mood swings, no.

We wouldn't laugh at you when Trump is impeached. We just want things to be better for everyone. Best to you.

Bit of good-ish news: The Jackson Telegraph is a fake news site. I'm relieved to say, the story about a mass grave of tortured black men is fake.
