Or is toast with honey a perfectly acceptable breakfast for a 4yo?

Just that, really. DD(4) is asking for toast with honey for breakfast. DH is telling her she can't have it. I ask why, he says it's just pure sugar and looks at me like I've got two heads. Surely toast with honey is a perfectly normal breakfast option? It's not like she eats it every day (or in fact ever before).

DH is foreign, if that makes a difference. He has some really weird (to me) ideas about what is and isn't an acceptable meal Hmm

Don't ducks have some sort of corkscrew penis? Keep it in your shorts, Donald.

honeylulu · 28/06/2017 18:28

This reminds me of Bungle the bear from Rainbow who would discreetly retire behind a screen to put on his pyjamas or swimming trunks but the rest of the time wandered around totally starkers.

When I was a kid, you got offered a boiled egg for a breakfast if you were 'going on a journey.'

Not a journey to school or to work. Something major involving at least an hour on a train to a different part of the UK.

BasketOfDeplorables · 28/06/2017 18:31

Life models do that, honeylulu. Maybe Bungle had an artistic past.

MagdalenNoName · 28/06/2017 18:32

Paddington just had a hat and a duffle coat, I think.

😅😅

Fozzie Bear just wore a hat and tie.

All these nude bears would have done well to follow Rupert's lead, trousers, jumper and scarf at all times.

eddiemairswife · 28/06/2017 18:40

Sliced white bread toast with lashings of butter. Sheer heaven.

TizzyDongue · 28/06/2017 18:42

Paddington also had pyjamas. Modest sort Paddington - unless there were cream cakes in the area.

Sticky bears is ninepence...

phenomena.nationalgeographic.com/2009/12/22/ballistic-penises-and-corkscrew-vaginas-the-sexual-battles-of-ducks/

Ducks do indeed have corkscrew penises and female ducks have matching corkscrew vaginas. I'm surprised ducks haven't died out what with all that shitty white bread they eat.

BasketOfDeplorables · 28/06/2017 19:18

The best meal I ever had was some (shitty) toast, after I'd given birth.

ThymeLord · 28/06/2017 19:18

This thread needs a trigger warning Sad I keep forgetting about Winnie and then some insensitive person brings it up and it all floods back.

BasketOfDeplorables · 28/06/2017 19:19

It needs one just for the mention of Bungle, who quite clearly abused steroids from the head on him.

Maxabella2 · 28/06/2017 19:23

It's absolutely fine!
Life's about balance-a bit of everything is the healthiest approach
I was brought up incredibly healthily with a very low sugar diet-as soon as I could,I bought sweets and cigarettes!
And ate rubbish for years-luckily,I saw sense by my mid twenties and reverted to healthy eating again 🙈

ThymeLord · 28/06/2017 19:37

I always thought Bungle had that look about him.

I was so upset at the idea of Pooh being dead i had to re-read the ending. I had forgotten how sad it is. Quite possibly saddest book I've read. Sad

BasketOfDeplorables · 28/06/2017 20:03

Fame, OP. And as they say, behind every good woman is a man with a fear of honey.

Scrumpernickel · 28/06/2017 20:09

This Pooh quote always irritates that but of grit in my eye

'If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.'

Pooh actually died in the books? Sad
Wahhh didn't know that. It's like when I found out Mog The Cat died too. Blub.
This thread's both funny and sad in equal measures... Smile
