..... or anything else vaguely grannyish sounding? My dad is happy with grandad. Just can't help feeling that it's a bit selfish of her. After all she IS a grandparent, no getting away from that! Ok she's young in comparison to many of my friends mothers but all the same....Should I insist? Or seek a suitable alternative?
And anyway, what alternatives are there to the obvious? What do your dc's call their grandparents?

Nain? (Welsh I think)
I am Granny.

I wonder what the grandparents have been called for the last 16 years.

They'll be needing great-grandparent names in a few years.

That poster was commenting in 2007 so not sure you’ll get a response 😄

Mil was a granny at 49. She loved being called granny

My mum wanted to be called her name and none of us mind and the kids love her just the same.
There is a kind of ageist misogyny around "old granny" that sone resist which I understand. IMO - her shout.

It's up to her what she want to be called. My mum died years before my daughter but I know she wouldn't have wanted to be called granny etc. My grandparents on my mum's side were Gans/ Gans Alice and Papa.

It’s funny how so many women are happy to be called ‘Grandma’ but only when it’s translated into another language!
