"Can't beat getting into your own bed after Glastonbury! 😂 My back is killing, my feet hurt, my ears are still ringing and my body appears to be in pre-anaphylactic shock due to pollen abuse. Goodnight cruel world".

I don't really know why it annoys me, I suppose it's the stealth gloating but also the way this person constantly writes statuses in a way that sounds like a fucking journalists!! There are so many examples from her where she writes like she's writing a book and it's just so pretentious! It's Facebook not a-level English ffs

Some people listen to this shit from other people for their whole lives.

Clue: if you think someone else is "showing off like it's A-level English" in how they speak, the problem is almost certainly you and your inverted snobbery.

TheFirstMrsDV · 26/06/2017 11:00

It doesn't start 'When you get in from....' or 'So I have just got in from....' or 'That thing when you just get in from......that'

That makes it better than average

RestlessTraveller · 26/06/2017 11:13

deffoncforthis I could not agree more!

RhubardGin · 26/06/2017 11:15

I think what's she's written is quite funny tbh! Don't see a problem at all.

If she annoys you so much unfriend her, it's not rocket science Hmm

dinosaursandtea · 26/06/2017 11:15

Why don't you invest in a dictionary if it's that confusing?

user1498470469 · 26/06/2017 11:18

What's wrong with speaking well? No offence but you sound jealous, that person is going out enjoying their life at Glastonbury making a tongue in cheek post whilst you're ranting to strangers on the internet about it? Slightly sad..

Lana1234 · 26/06/2017 11:19

I wouldnt bat an eyelid at that personally but if she generally annoys you just unfollow her Grin

YesMadamDeputySpeaker · 26/06/2017 11:23

I find it quite sad that nowadays anyone who writes properly, without text speak and with the use of correct SPAG, is branded 'pretentious'.

WaahImTellingTheDorchester · 26/06/2017 11:33

I get you Grin

There's a whole army of folk out there that fancy themselves wry witty commentators and it's incredibly try-hard.

However I find it does come down to whether you dislike them as people or not!

CaoNiMartacus · 26/06/2017 11:40

That's standard for my FB friends! I'd take it any day over idiotic spelling and mundane updates about "my kidz are my world."

Scribblegirl · 26/06/2017 11:47

This, with bells on.

YogaAndRum · 26/06/2017 11:47

You sound jealous.

TabascoToastie · 26/06/2017 11:49

Nothing in that post's writing style strikes me as remotely unusual in any way.

Some people just have a more sophisticated writing style or "a way with words" naturally. Though personally the OP's friend's writing style is what I would consider completely ordinary, not pretentious or novel-like.

Perhaps the OP has a lot of friends with poor English skills, so someone using correct English stands out as "pretentious"?

waitforitfdear · 26/06/2017 11:50

You sound jealous op. Wink

chemenger · 26/06/2017 11:55

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, I see nothing pretentious or irritating. If she had spent ages composing it she would have edited the "Goodnight cruel world" to something better, but that is not really the point of facebook, is it? It's just a throwaway to let your friends (or in this case someone who likes you so little that they try to get MN to mock you) know what you are up to.

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/06/2017 12:03

Sounds like an ordinary post to me. Better than 'so blessed to be back home with my hubs and my furbabies. Lol.'

user1498470469 · 26/06/2017 12:05

hahaha so funny how literally noone has agreed with the OP, the status is funny and is taking the piss, you're just jealous!

You sound like a bitter betty and i think the reason you're jealous is because that person did the SAME thing as you but is showing off online but you don't have the guts to do that, but wouldn't mind the attention, you've only got the guts to moan to strangers about someone who doesn't know you exist....

Glastokitty · 26/06/2017 12:05

She sounds good fun.You sound like a miserable cow.And why is posting something like going to Glastonbury 'humble bragging'?Some people seem to use that term when they are jealous someone is having more fun than them I reckon.

FlyingElbows · 26/06/2017 12:06

Nope, I'm not getting it. I simply cannot understand why some people are so enraged by the literacy of others. Why, op? Why are you annoyed that your "friend" can manage sentences? Other than raging insecurity and a paranoid belief that her writing style is some sort of personal attack I see no valid reason to be annoyed by it. We don't all write, speak or think like we've just stepped into Saturday evening on ITV. Nobody needs to apologise for not being incapable.

Mominatrix · 26/06/2017 12:30

Not getting your rage either. Seems like a perfectly normal post - lighthearted and I certainly would not say it is wannabe "A level English". Actually, your reactions reflects badly on you, and I would do a bit of self reflection to find out why a normal post has you reacting with such ire.

motherinferior · 26/06/2017 12:49

I write like that on Facebook. Mind you I am a 'fucking journalist'.

LiveLongAndProspero · 26/06/2017 12:53

Then why do y9ou choose to have this person on your feed? It's not compulsory.

It's pure twattery to choose to friend people on FB and then whine about how annoying their posts are. It's like starting a conversation with someone and then loudly complaining they are boring half way through it.

NotACleverName · 26/06/2017 13:00

🙄

Do get a grip, OP.

WellThatSucks · 26/06/2017 13:10

OP, I get a feeling this person would annoy you no matter what/how she wrote. Do yourself a favour and hide her feed/block her or whatever you need to do so you don't see it. TBH I'm not a fan of threads where we're invited to rip into unsuspecting acquaintances of the OP who haven't done anything egregious or unreasonable beyond just doing them. I'm not on FB but I see a lots of blogs/web journals written in a similar style, yes, it's a bit OTT but it's the internet, you have to big it up a bit to get noticed among all the other inane shit.
