"Can't beat getting into your own bed after Glastonbury! 😂 My back is killing, my feet hurt, my ears are still ringing and my body appears to be in pre-anaphylactic shock due to pollen abuse. Goodnight cruel world".

I don't really know why it annoys me, I suppose it's the stealth gloating but also the way this person constantly writes statuses in a way that sounds like a fucking journalists!! There are so many examples from her where she writes like she's writing a book and it's just so pretentious! It's Facebook not a-level English ffs

OP posts:
MrsJayy · 26/06/2017 10:12

I unfollowed a friend recently if she wasn't # blessed she was #making memories i just can't cope with that shit Grin

Helloitsme88 · 26/06/2017 10:12

Good night cruel world makes me cringe. It also isn't in keeping with the tone of the status

Theyhaveallbeenused2 · 26/06/2017 10:12

The only annoying thing about that post is the lack of a shower.

nina2b · 26/06/2017 10:12

How would you describe your "Glasto" experience, OP? (Don't forget to mention that there is a surplus of the middle aged, these days.)

BartholinsSister · 26/06/2017 10:14

Respond 'lightweight'

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 26/06/2017 10:15

Yabu but fair play to you for returning to say you misjudged this.

I hate 'making memories'

Its annoying on so many levels.

Instead of just doing stuff and enjoying it you are consciously collecting experiences. Or more likely, selfies.

Unless you or your loved one is terminally ill I think its a stupid term

IsabelleSE19 · 26/06/2017 10:16

The only thing that annoys me about it is the 'crying with laughter' smiley. Other than that it's the kind of status I might have written – I write in the same way that I talk generally as well, so it's a good job we're not friends!

Butterymuffin · 26/06/2017 10:18

It's not very well done. I'd expect better of a journalist. Think you need to start reading better newspapers!

Still, cheer up, you'll get next year off from having to go to Glastonbury..

LittleLionMansMummy · 26/06/2017 10:19

The only thing that annoys me about it is that she was there and I wasn't. I haven't had a sniff of a ticket in 7 years. In fact, you annoy me just as much because you too were there and I wasn't.

I don't understand why you're Facebook friends. In fact I don't understand these mn posts complaining about Facebook. Either unfriend or unfollow. Not difficult.

Hope you had a great time though op [gritted teeth]

nina2b · 26/06/2017 10:20

At least the target writes correctly, using apostrophes and capital letters accurately, unlike some of those imagining they are "marking" it.

fudgefeet · 26/06/2017 10:21

I do know where your coming from although that wasnt too cringy.
I have an old school friend who makes flowery statements everyday but they are so funny I don't mind them popping up on my newsfeed. Rather than " I had a nice walk on the beach with my husband" she puts "looking out over the azure blue ocean with the love of my life, my best friend, my rock"
And there's lots of "nom fest" dinner photos, pictures of toes with a drink in her hand etc.
You can unfollow people without Unfriending if it bothers you that much though.

KatharinaRosalie · 26/06/2017 10:26

I see nothing wrong with this post. What am I missing? Are you only allowed to use text speak on Facebook or what's the issue with a-levels?

YesMadamDeputySpeaker · 26/06/2017 10:33

Well what would you rather? An eloquently written - and in my opinion, quite humourous - post about an experience she enjoyed or something along the lines of "good wee bubba-free weekend away with the hubster #blessed xxxxx"?

Hoppinggreen · 26/06/2017 10:33

At least she hasn't used the word " methinks"

Toysaurus · 26/06/2017 10:34

I think it sounds Ok. In fact, it's probably the style I would write a post. Words are beautiful. Why not add some flair instead of writing Back from Glasto. Back is fucking killing me. Your post says way more about you.

grannytomine · 26/06/2017 10:36

Are you feeling a bit tired and grumpy after a weekend at Glastonbury?

londonrach · 26/06/2017 10:38

Glastonbury be my idea of hell but each to their own. Got a friend who posts how amazing it is every year. I like her posts and sometimes comment, enjoy, as its her thing. Sharing toilets, sleeping in a field with 1000s others, no showers and loud music standing in a crowd of people (i like music) no thank you. Yabu though as i see nothing wrong with what she posts.

BangkokBlues · 26/06/2017 10:46

KimmySchmidt1 · 26/06/2017 10:48

It reads as funny to me. Sometimes when things really get on our nerves they are touching our own insecurities, maybe about our own writing ability or English skills? How well did you do in GCSE or Alevel English? Do you read a tabloid or a broadsheet newspaper? Maybe she does wish she was a journalist. She is probably just trying to entertain people.

BreconBeBuggered · 26/06/2017 10:51

It's fine. Better than most examples of Facebookery I see. But I don't know her so I'm not already primed to feel annoyed by it.

RestlessTraveller · 26/06/2017 10:56

I like her writing style, for a FB status anyway. The 'pre-anaphylactic-shock' bit appears tongue in cheek, (plus she get's extra points for being able to spell anaphylactic) and there's a literary reference in there too. If you're going to block her I'll take her. You can have some of my tedious friends who do nothing but post pictures of their kids.

fruitbrewhaha · 26/06/2017 10:57

Its a humblebrag, that's what's annoying about it.
Poor me I'm so tired and poorly.........................because i've been to glastonbury.

YesMadamDeputySpeaker · 26/06/2017 10:57

At least she hasn't used the word " methinks"

Hoppinggreen my DH uses 'methinks'. And no, not in a funny way, nor an ironic way..
