To think it's not normal for an 18 year old to play video games on their day off? Mine doesn't move!

OP posts:
TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/06/2017 14:24

Why isn't it? I'm 28 and I intend to spend most of today playing Dragon Age Inquisition. My DC are out with grandparents and I'm up to date on household chores.

Oops bold fail. Oh I do write Fanfiction from Video games.

Groupie123 · 25/06/2017 14:28

My husband is pushing 40 and is happy to play video games all day on his day off lol

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/06/2017 14:29

Oh and to prove my weirdness, games I've played in the last year.

Witcher 3
Mass Effect 1
Mass Effect 2
Mass Effect 3
Mass Effect: Andromeda
Uncharted 1
Uncharted 2
Uncharted 3
Uncharted 4
Assassins creed: The Ezio Collection
Assassins creed: Syndicate
Watchdogs 2
Star Trek Online
Dragon Age: Origins
Dragon Age 2
Dragon Age: Inquisition

CheesyWeez · 25/06/2017 14:32

Totally normal. I used to play for hours straight and didn't even notice the time go by.
Now 25 years later I don't have time to do that and have to play in snatches, but a whole day sounds like heaven!
I loved the artwork on Mario Galaxy for example, I could look at it and listen to the music all day.
People enjoy different things.

SootSprite · 25/06/2017 14:32

I'm 44 and have just finished a session playing a mario game on the wii 😊

INeedANameChange · 25/06/2017 14:33

I'm 32 and I'd happily play video games all day. I'd definitely do it if I had no responsibilities Grin

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/06/2017 14:34

Dp is 41 and tends to have a couple of hours gaming on his day off! Why not? It's his down time he can do what he likes with it

divadee · 25/06/2017 14:35

My daughter's boyfriend (26) and my partner (38) are sat playing ps4 now so I would say it's entirely normal

Sallystyle · 25/06/2017 14:36

My 18 year old spends his days off doing the same. Sometimes he will have a game of football in the evening but the bulk of his days off is game playing.

LoupGarou · 25/06/2017 14:36

TaliZorah is ME Andromeda good? I haven't had a chance to get it yet, but have just completed yet another play through of ME 1, 2 and 3, and of the DA games. I have even been irresponsibly staying up into the witching hours and eating pizza whilst DS is asleep Grin

My name is LoupGarou and I also....

Love SciFi TV series (Star Trek Voyager, Firefly and Babylon 5 in particular)
Read and beta fanfiction
Love my Xbox
Missed the memo about humans being sociable creatures Grin

BirdBrain85 · 25/06/2017 14:36

I'm 31 and still game! Although getting the time is harder now, but as a teen / young adult I spent nearly all my spare time on the computer - gaming, photoshopping and video editing Smile. It's got zero to do with my job now but the skills always come in handy.

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 25/06/2017 14:38

Games are off limits in the daytime due to DD (she'll happily watch Minecraft or Lego Avengers but anything else is a bit much) but I love spending my non-working evenings playing video games with DH. I'm 22 so no, it doesn't stop at 18 Grin

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/06/2017 14:38

Loup It's not as bad as people whined it was. Yeah, animation werent great but it was quite enjoyable. I played it 3 times.

BirdBrain85 · 25/06/2017 14:38

Also it meant I was a dream for my parents during those years! A lot of my female friends were out drinking and doing all sorts - not me, I was gaming Grin. So it can be a blessing!

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 25/06/2017 14:39

Loup you might be one of my favourite MNers now. Anyone who likes Firefly, fanfiction AND gaming is a top notch person in my eyes Grin

EdmundCleverClogs · 25/06/2017 14:40

Totally normal. I was doing exactly the same at 18, and today, aged 30, spent my toddler's nap playing on GTA. It's no different than watching tv or reading. What an adult does with their time off is no one's business (as I had to remind my own mother when I used to work all day, do house chores, then dare take the rest of the time to myself).

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/06/2017 14:41

Oh Ovaries I've only got 2 out of 3. If I watch Firefly, ill you like me?

user1494187262 · 25/06/2017 14:42

I think that anyone can do whatever they like on their day off.
It's when every day is a day off there's a problem

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/06/2017 14:43

My name is Tali and also....

I enjoying gaming.
Sci Fi
Writing smutty fanfiction
and I've played all the GTAs

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 25/06/2017 14:43

Ahh Tali I like you anyway, you're awesome Star

(But still watch Firefly. It's amazing Grin )

BearsDontDigOnDancing · 25/06/2017 14:44

I am 36 and a mother of 2, currently flipping between MN and WoW.

Gaming is just a form of entertainment. Sometimes I play games, sometimes I read, rarer that I watch TV.

LoupGarou · 25/06/2017 14:45

Thanks Tali that's really good to know, tbh I'd play it even if it was rubbish as I'd get FOMO otherwise Grin. Animation I'm not so fussed about, plot and being enjoyable to play, and not riddled with bugs (looking at you Skyrim DLCs Hmm) means more to me.

Hahaha thanks Ovaries Grin.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 25/06/2017 14:45

Ovaries I'm gonna hunt for Firefly later. So glad I aint working til thursday.

CostaCoffeeRoyalty · 25/06/2017 14:46

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic but it's totally normal.

LoupGarou · 25/06/2017 14:47

Cross post Tali have a Star for public service as smutty fabric is the best and its writers deserve accolades and adoration Grin
