Inspired by another thread 😅 Have you ever accidentally put your foot in it? Maybe something embarrassing or something you should not have said/done?

Keen to hear your stories!

I emailed my business manager and copied in the Big Boss with an email that said 'if you speak to accunts...'
Big Boss replied saying 'I don't often speak to them but I can give it a go!'
Cringe.

The worst one was when I was saying how mean a rhyme was that the kids at school were saying to my mum. My grandmother, being hard of hearing, needed it repeating so my mum did. Just as my auntie was walking down the hallway...
The rhyme was
'Here comes the bride,
short, fat and wide...' can't remember the rest
The auntie was indeed short and fat and was getting married a week later Blush excruciating.

I'm in a group whatsapp with some long time friends when my best friend messaged saying she had just seen Ant (nc) and asked if I remembered him.
My reply: "omg that's the guy I went home with from the staff a few years back, and then he got pissed the next morning because I stopped shagging him as my mum was ringing"

Unfortunately for me, I hadn't realised amongst my quick responding whilst feeding newborn DS, that my 13 year old sister had sent a message to family group whatsapp and therefore I had replied to that group and not my friend group Blush

I didn't realise until my two 13 year old sisters, 19 year old sister and mum all sent back messages laughing and then my mum phoned me just to here me cringing, so she could laugh some more Grin

I wrote a note in a parent teacher contact book(to a Dad of a pupil) and put (absent minded) kisses next to the comment.
I spent the next term avoiding this parent.

I shared this on the "sex-autocorrect fails" thread but in case anyone missed it -

I read once about a couple who were sexting when all of a sudden the male of the couple sent a message stating "I want to kick your aunt"
After a few confused messages back and forth they established he actually meant to send "I want to lick your c*nt"...

squizita · 21/06/2017 19:34

In had a sort of opposite of the 'c*nt' moment.

I was the quality analyst's assistant at a well known training organisation. I would repeatedly get hauled up to IT for "warnings" about sending emails with "anal" and "ass" next to each other.
Angry Was funny at first and when it was taken into consideration for my bonus/pay rise I swiftly left ... literally "computer says no"!

I still like my friends reply when asked in her university interview which branch of the law she hoped to practise in - she thought she would like to be a barrister but might do a bit of soliciting as well

lborgia · 22/06/2017 06:42

camtt Grin

Mid-20's, slightly nervous to go and see a doctor in a GUM (STD) clinic I was working with on a journal article as it was a new job, and a real step up... walked up to reception and asked for him by name. The receptionist quite loudly asked if I was there for a check-up - to which I replied even more loudly "God, NO!"...

..cue 20 pissed off patients in the waiting room looking at me as if they would like to hack me to pieces.

Todayisanewday75 · 22/06/2017 13:12

My DCs swimming teacher is called Sally and I have on a number of occasions texted her and called her Silly. She hasn't mentioned it.

One dc has a friend whose mum is called Delphine. I don't know her very well and when trying to organise a playdate I started the text with "Hi Dolphins". She hasn't mentioned it either.

I need to start reading texts properly before sending.

Sparklingbrook · 22/06/2017 13:12

Why is OP not sharing and why are they keen to hear stories? Confused

Teutonic · 22/06/2017 13:17

A couple of weeks ago I had a row with my DH. He stormed out to the pub and I phoned my friend as I was still simmering to get it off my chest.
When the phone was answered I said hello its me and launched into a rant about useless men and how they should be launched into orbit, without pausing for breath, as you do.
Eventually a female voice managed to cut in with a ' well, that's more interesting than eastenders I was just watching '
In my temper I had misdialled my friends number. I'm still cringing now 😲

NashvilleQueen · 22/06/2017 13:21

Lazy journalism?
Looking for book material?
Either way I'm not sure the OP is just looking for anecdotes just for giggles Hmm

TheSkyisBlueToday · 22/06/2017 13:53

Actually, OP has been busy and completely forgot about the thread until now.

I once text a friend, bitching about an annoying colleague. Sent it to the annoying colleague Blush Luckily I managed to get to her phone and delete it before she saw it! That would have been awkward!

Oh shit @Fredscheese

Did she see the funny side??

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/06/2017 17:26

I've mentioned this before, but once in Boston USA, I was watching a bridal party leave home on the way to church. I made some remark about the lovely day and said it was interesting that they, too, had the tradition of the dad taking his daughter to church

Of course, it was the groom ... Blush Shock

valeriej43 · 22/06/2017 23:30

My son and daughter in law ran a burger van, and me and my daughter popped to see them on our way to the next town, my daughter in law was quite well built and as we were leaving i meant to say, "see you later Carol" but it came out as" see you later barrel , intended saying bye carol see you later, but somehow got muddled
I wasnt very popular for quite a while

LorelaiVictoriaGilmore · 23/06/2017 21:15

When I had a young baby who didn't eat or sleep (I was averaging about 3-4 hours a night for over 6 months) I met up with a friend who was going on and on and on about the 5 £10k holiday that she and her fiancé were going on. I jokingly said, 'oh please stop, I can't bear it, I'm so jealous!' I found out a week later from another friend that they were going on the holiday to deal with the fact that they had been told by doctors that they had to stop trying for a baby as it could kill her. Sad I feel like such a and have no idea how to apologies.
