to ask if you don't have a landline?

We have the possibility of going on board with a new internet provider and they don't require you to have a landline.

We're not sure of the costs as yet because they are finishing off installation at our complex but Dh said we may aswell not have one - we have mobiles which have unlimited calls and texts. I immediately said no we need a landline. But after thinking about it, we don't. People call us on our mobiles generally. The only person/s who call the landline are my Mum and his Mum one in a frozen over hell.

So. Do you not have a landline and does it matter if you don't?

My landline is basically a hotline to my Mum only! Everyone else uses mobiles. My Mum doesn't...if I got rid of the landline then mum would have to call me on mobile from landline.

We have one and I can honestly say we haven't used it once in 4 years.

Interestingly someone told me the other day that they take longer to send an ambulance if you call from a landline? Sounded like rubbish to me but you never know.

Can't see why it would make a difference. Urban myth alert?

A corded phone plugged into a landline will never have a dead battery, a cracked screen or cut out for the hell of it. Doesn't need mains power either. Useful standby.

Specialsubject only you and me then who still use their landlines? Grin

Hassled · 23/06/2017 15:10

When our landline rings I know it's either a spam/cold caller, PILs or my elderly aunt. They're the only people who use it. And that actually pisses me off because mobile reception in the house is really patchy, so I'd rather friends, the doctor etc called the landline.

I have one as part of my broadband deal but have never used it. It scares me to death when the phone (very, very rarely) rings. And then I don't answer it......Grin

Us and a few others, astonished Grin probably the ones with less stress and lower bills!

probably the ones with less stress and lower bills!

My mobile bill is £10 a month. No stress as I keep it on silent all the time Grin

Haven't had one for a couple of years, for reasons I can't quite understand (moved into new house, plugged phone in, it doesn't work, DH said he knew why and he'd sort it, nothing happened, I'd do it but we're in a foreign country so I don't get how it works here). Can't say I miss it.
