It seems to be another van driving into people. I live near there and have been hearing a lot of sirens. How scary and utterly depressing!

Fair enough but don't you think it is creating divisiveness where none exists. There's enough going around.
And for the record, I complained early on in this thread about the hypocrisy of referring to such people as lone wolf. It's an American disease. Like referring to the Charleston Church murderer as a lone wolf.
It's disgusting.

To kill a person who was hurt and being attended to by others is appalling unless he misread it and thought people were attacking the man on the ground - I very much doubt it.

Most people in the UK atheists like I am, Christian and Muslim do not go in for violence or killing which is why the muslims handed him to police alive. We don't kill.

Radio 4 is not particularly Christian. I listen tothought for the day which seems to have a set of regulars one each day from Islam, sikhism, christianity etc

PeaFace: But your opinion is wrong. Radio 4 is not a Christian radio station. It's just not. You might as well stand by your opinion that the earth is flat.

One reason for lack of speculation on the attacker is the fact that he is alive and should therefore stand trial.

The type of speculation and cover which followed the previous two attacks could prejudice a trial of a live, captured assailant.

Once a trial is over then this is not an issue. However this doesn't cover the ongoing prejudicial portraying of a group in the media (as anyone who remembers people being convicted of being Irish in the 70s will tell you).

Pariswhenitdrizzles · 19/06/2017 12:11

but yes, there are many people of all stripes that are pissing their knickers with joy about the past month, but dressing it up as outrage.

Hairy, could you explain what you mean by this?

DeleteOrDecay · 19/06/2017 12:24

Unfortunately rain there are. Some awful comments on the FB Sky News page.

Agree. The stark contrast in the comments from previous attacks compared to this one is startling. Lots of people terrorist sympathising without even being aware that they're doing it (or maybe they are?). Imo a terrorist attack is a terrorist attack and should be treated as such. The victims did NOTHING to deserve this.

This man is scum, just like the rest of them. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.

Morphene · 19/06/2017 12:31

I don't think people waited to find out the religion of the westminster bridge terrorist before labelling them Islamic all over the media. Funny how that hasn't happened in this case. Hmm

As for labelling it 'islamaphobic terrorism' - words escape me.

I mean just when you thought it wasn't possible to blame one religion for all the acts of violence in the world! Boom! There it is. No matter who does the deed, it's route must be cited as Islam.

Bullshit.

None of this terrorism has to do with Islam, especially not those acts committed by people who are culturally if not practising christians.

ps. radio 4 is christian. It broadcasts an act of christian worship weekly, and no other faith based worships slots. So what on earth else could it be?

7Days · 19/06/2017 12:38

I don't think you can call r4 Christian, yet deny isis are Muslim.

Perhaps you are right though about the word Islamaphobia as it does make a connection. Far right would be better.
