I'm knackered! Long week school reports to finish and eyfs data to submit along with getting dd to and from show rehearsals. Spent today washing cleaning and gardening and just got into bed for an early night and the music starts!! A neighbour in one of houses that garden backs onto mine so house must be 100ft away - they decided to have a fucking party!!! If it had been a BBQ that had been continuing wouldn't be such a problem but the music started at 10pm!!!! I just want sleep

You can try, but they won't care.
Put your pillow over your ears and if you're knackered you'll drop off.
I did read somewhere if you put your own TV/radio on low it'll over ride the noise and you'll tune it out.

I was this close > < to slamming my NDN windows shut with their God Awful noise that masquerades as music blaring out.

I am plotting revenge Angry

alabasterangel · 17/06/2017 22:29

I am an anti noise fanatic.

Think yourself lucky, my back neighbours started a party at 1 that finished at 6am on the last bank holiday.

Hot weather seems to equal inconsiderate shit behaviour, particularly around noise. I bloody hate it.

tireddotcom72 · 17/06/2017 22:29

I'm going to get my dd to invite her friends over tomorrow and be loud and squealing teenage girls to annoy them and their hangovers.

OP posts:
tireddotcom72 · 17/06/2017 22:31

Noise during day doesn't bother me but at this time of night!! It sounds like the shit music is in my room it's that loud! Dd is now moaning she can't get to sleep either

OP posts:
moutonfou · 17/06/2017 22:32

Are they the kind of neighbour you can go round and talk to - tell them children are trying to sleep?

I've been at a party before (not my house) where a someone came round yelling about the noise and being aggressive.

We wondered why he hadn't just come round and talked to us like the perfectly normal (just slightly overexcited) people we are. We'd have turned it down straight away (and did).

Mysterycat23 · 17/06/2017 22:33

Can recommend it for catharsis purposes Grin

HildaOg · 17/06/2017 22:35

It's always people with the worst taste in music. I'm so grateful I'm surrounded by old people and young fogeys who move here for the silence. Noisy neighbours are the worst. I had them elsewhere and the stress had me driven insane.

Turquoisetamborine · 17/06/2017 22:35

I put a white noise app on every night, drowns everything out.

tireddotcom72 · 17/06/2017 22:37

They not even on this road it's the next road away whose gardens back onto ours. I would have a long walk to get to their house! I'm not even sure which of 3 houses at end of my garden is making the racket - guessing it's not the one with the little children! Hopefully one of their immediate neighbours will go and smash their speakers up!

OP posts:
picklemepopcorn · 17/06/2017 22:38

Ive still got squealing children playing out. And a speeding motorbike doing laps...

MsMims · 17/06/2017 22:38

Yes, YWBVVVU to unreasonable to shout 'shut the fuck up'. Is that really how you talk to people you live alongside?

Why not politely knock the door and ask? Much more likely to get a favourable outcome and doesn't make an enemy out of your neighbours either.

WaxOnFeckOff · 17/06/2017 23:01

I hate noise! It's not even dark here yet and neighbours kids havejust gone in after playing football in the street - they were reasonably quiet though.

If this isn't a regular thing, I think I would suck it up as annoyed as I was.

I know you have the right to quiet enjoyments etc. it's also reasonable to have an occasional noisy party.

SofaToad · 17/06/2017 23:01

Sounds like you are living in my road. We got back a little while ago and there is a very loud party going on, but it is not near us, but in the road that backs on to the houses on the opposite side of ours. It sounds very big, more like an open air concert with singing along and although I hate noise they sound as if they are really enjoying themselves.

If I put the aircon on it drowns it out but I was hoping to leave the windows open tonight for some air.

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 17/06/2017 23:05

It's always people with shit music and rough as fuck mates. Have they had a barbecue? Gotta love the stench of junk food on an English summer evening.

Hope you get some sleep OP.

WhattheChuff · 17/06/2017 23:05

Thing is, they must know it's loud enough to piss off the neighbours. It's hot, people have their windows open. They just don't appear to care. Why should we have to go around and tell them the music is loud when they must know it is? I guess some people aren't bothered by it.

I've had neighbours like this and it can be hell. I've been threatened for asking politely. I always make sure I have earplugs now.

Jaxhog · 17/06/2017 23:06

We have inconsiderate neighbours who have 'once in a lifetime' parties with amplifiers in the garden. I dread the summer for that reason.

We now have a portable air conditioner that drowns them out. It's noisy, but it's our noise.

Secretsweets · 17/06/2017 23:11

Just commented on another similar post - neighbours behind us started their party at midday and all still going strong. I honestly cannot understand how some people can have absolutely no regard for other people, especially their neighbours at gone 11pm ! They're having full volume conversations, kids all still screaming and music blaring - not to mention their fucking little bastard dog that hasn't stopped barking for the last 6 hours !

ArtemisiaGentilleschi · 17/06/2017 23:14

Unfortunately you only have to look at other threads to see that a lot of people think it's perfectly reasonable to sit in their gardens (even when that is literally under their NDN's window, on the ale and playing shit music. Apparently if you object you're a miserable git.
I dread the British summer for many reasons. Yobs thinking they're at an all-nighter in Benidorm when they're on a new build estate in Halifax comes top of that list.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/06/2017 23:29

I prefer a loud music party to the continual whump of neighbours DC playing football against a wooden fence,

Over and over and over.

If I went round, knocked on the door, pushed my heel of my hand into the mothers face (she knows how fecking irritating the constant noise is ) , walked into the garden , grabbed all the footballs and bludgeoned each one with a chisel Not a court in the land would convict me Shock

sodablackcurrant · 17/06/2017 23:29

Invest in noise cancelling headphones. Move to another bedroom away from the noise, evict children if necessary. Has to be done.

Pancakeflipper · 17/06/2017 23:36

Got earplugs?
I'll be hunting mine out tonight. Our neighbours are having a Neil Diamond revival night. Since 6pm it's been Sweet Caroline Forever in Blue Jeans.

phoenix1973 · 17/06/2017 23:43

I feel for you. My problem is yappy dog. Starts at 23:30, then fucks off, then again about 01:00 then fucks off then about 03:00 then fucking shuts up.

Weirdly, it's rarely heard during the day.
I harbour dreadful thoughts on how to shut that fucking thing up.

sodablackcurrant · 17/06/2017 23:51

I just do not understand how owners of yappy barking dogs do not hear them aswell.

Can anyone explain.

GreeboIsACutePussPuss · 17/06/2017 23:57

YANBU but it won't help. one of the gardens i overlook is having a party. I went straight from work (where the kids were too hot and cranky) to a Rainbow sleepover last night so haven't slept more than 2 hours in the last 2 days, I'm too hot, I've spent the evening doing stuff for DD and they are doing karaoke, badly. I have actually been round and asked nicely if they could turn it down and burst into tears when they said no. it hasn't helped.

catloony · 18/06/2017 00:01

I know last night I went to bed early as had to be up at 5.30 for work, was woken by people out the back at 2.30 probably got in from a night out deciding to sit in the garden and chat, no music so they probably thought it was ok but they were so loud, one mans voice was just booming through the night, dogs were barking, laughing. It was stifling hot so I'd had the window open, had to go downstairs in the end as even closing the window didn't help and I was so hot, they stopped at about 4. Bastards
