To ask what time you expect "quiet" in the evenings?

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 17/06/2017 21:02

It's lush weather so expecting people to be outdoors etc just wondering when is normally "quiet time"
im overly tired with a baby who keeps being disturbed
I'd say hopefully by 11 as its a weekend?

Personally I would love total silence from 8pm but I am a grumpy bitch with toothache today! Weekend night, unless its just quiet chatting, I would hope from 11pm but by midnight I would definitely want quiet.

UrsulaPandress · 17/06/2017 21:06

All the time please. Can't stand other people's noise.

SuperBeagle · 17/06/2017 21:08

Being able to hear other peoples' noise inside your own house means it's too loud regardless of the time

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 17/06/2017 21:08

I've all the windows shut and it sounds like crowds of people outside drinking and children screechingAngry wasn't sure if I was just being over grumpy so am prepared to be flamed but it's driving me slightly nuts

Last time it was hot like this, my husband and I sat out in our back yard until 11, we had no music on at all, and were talking just above whispers, so I highly doubt we annoyed anyone too much.
I hope not anyway..

ShinyGirl · 17/06/2017 21:11

11 ish

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 17/06/2017 21:14

@kel1234 noo that wouldn't have annoyed me. I'm meaning highly loud and lairy people who argue and children screeching etc

HCantThinkOfAUsername · 17/06/2017 21:52

Still noisy 😡

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 17/06/2017 21:55

Personally 9pm.

LockedOutOfMN · 17/06/2017 21:55

We live in Spain. It's always noisy, especially in summer or on Bank Holidays. When I first came and told DH about people turning off music after midnight he was baffled. He also still doesn't remember that U.K. weddings usually need to finish by 1am because of noise pollution by laws.

DestinationSofa · 17/06/2017 21:56

I don't like noise but I think due to the rare hot weather we can't really complain it's pretty expected

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/06/2017 21:58

I would say after midnight but not in summer..would be later then.
and when I lived in London.. never ..as it never was.

steppemum · 17/06/2017 22:03

Most local noise bylaws etc say 11pm.

I think most people would be in at about that time, even on a saturday.

Unless there is a party

elQuintoConyo · 17/06/2017 22:05

Me too LockedOutOfMN we've got a big festival on next Thursday and kids are already practising with firecrackers!

Last night was DS' end of school party. There was a foam party until 8pm and the zumba was still going on at 11.30pm when we left Grin

It does not bother me anymore. DS still goes to bed even if there are others playing out.

harderandharder2breathe · 17/06/2017 22:05

In my block of flats it's no noise that can be heard outside your own flat 11pm-7am which I think is reasonable and should be a general rule everywhere

notangelinajolie · 17/06/2017 22:11

Neighbour with yappy dog is really pissing me off right now. Can they not hear it barking? Like clockwork every evening they let it out. 6pm and 9.30pm. It been barking for 15 mins to get let in. Why oh why can they not let it in. Every night this happens Angry Yap bloody yap.

Rarotonga · 17/06/2017 22:25

I'd say about 9 or 10pm.

I get grumpy when woken early on a weekend. My NDN always seems to mow the lawn or trim the hedge before 7.30am on a Sunday. So annoying.

Oly5 · 17/06/2017 22:34

I think noise up to midnight is acceptable on a summer's evening.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 17/06/2017 22:37

Theres a group gets together drinking out the back behind our house, all adults, drinking, shouting, swearing, etc, till 3 or 4 am

Toysaurus · 17/06/2017 22:50

We live next door to a pub which six months ago decided to do Friday and Saturday night karaoke until 1.30am, sometimes 2am. Then the drunk people fight until about four am. Every fucking weekend. Me and my children don't bother going to bed until 3am because it's pointless.

You can sing along with it in bed because you can hear every single word squawked.

Pisses me the fuck off.

CraftyPenguin · 17/06/2017 22:57

I'd like to think by 11pm itd quieten down here, but I doubt it. It's a really small, (usually) quiet cul-de-sac and there's lots of chatter etc which is fair enough but a group have now brought karaoke outside. I know everyone has the right to enjoy their garden but my bedroom is at the front of the house and I can still hear them, whilst trying get dd to settle. It's one of those things about communal living though. I can't afford a detached house in the middle of nowhere, so I've just got to put up with it.

Secretsweets · 17/06/2017 22:58

People behind us have been in the garden with visitors since midday - and still going ! Music blaring, kids screaming, loud shouty adults. I'm giving til 11.15 then I'm shooting out the window !! Have to be up at 5am for work.

Secretsweets · 17/06/2017 22:59

Shouting !!!!

I swear I'm not planning on shooting any neighbours or their visitors !!!!

Llanali · 17/06/2017 23:04

It's quiet here now, except the odd hound in the distance and the baler/tractor in the field opposite, but that doesn't bother me. We live in prime arable farm land, this time of year and over summer they'll be working out in the fields until the early hours.

We turn music off at 11pm, if outside, but our only true neighbours, one works away and the other is deaf so it wouldn't matter I guess, but it's habit.

On the other hand, last Sunday, said neighbors also starting mowing the strip of grass on our mutual track, past my windows at 5.55am. On a Sunday!! I was spitting feathers, my dogs were hysterical and grumpy in equal measure depending on their age and my husband and D.C. slept through it all ;)

Anditstartsagain · 17/06/2017 23:04

Music shouting and hyper children by 9/10 anything that would wake you by 11.
