So I haven't seen FIL for a few weeks, during that time I have been on holiday and gained weight. I have steadily been gaining anyway, since February I have put on almost a stone and a half.
FiL blurted out - are you pregnant??
I am categorically not pregnant.
I have known I am gaining weight but I am due to have my jaws broken in a few months so kind of Stuck my head in the sand thinking it will come off anyway soon.
Well after that comment I have joined back at slimming world.
Dp is not impressed and gone mad at his dad for being rude and making me join slimming world but I wasn't offended. He had a very valid point although he could have been more tactful.
So does it look like I am being a drama queen now by joining a slimming club?

Pictures in the poor man's defence, I really do look pregnant!

I agree with @Sidge re: the dress and posture not helping.

I also think you look at least 5 months pregnant, sorry.

Generally the weight seems to have gone to your belly but your upper arms and boobs are bigger than in your 'before' picture too. Maybe you just lay down your excess weight in certain places, plus chuck in a bit of added bloating? Your stomach certainly looks out of proportion to the rest of you so it's worth getting it checked out.

rolopolovolo · 13/06/2017 20:35

Fibroids?

pigletpie29 · 13/06/2017 20:37

There's something more going on here than weight gain - that happens all over! That's bloating - I think you need to find out what's causing it.

Sweetnessishere · 13/06/2017 20:37

Not much to help here but DD is lactose intolerant and if she eats dairy she looks like she is 3 months pregnant.

I have had Gallstones which just made me feel shit all the time, but didn't really give me the bloat that you have.

I have also had a massive fibroid which did, and also gave me loads of other trouble with a compromised bladder and ridiculous periods, none of which you have.

Please get checked out.

peachgreen · 13/06/2017 20:38

Bloating, irregular periods, fatigue and abdominal pain are all the signs I had when I had a large ovarian cyst... Definitely get to your GP and tell her about all the symptoms.

BewtySkoolDropowt · 13/06/2017 20:38

A smear test only tests for cervical cancer, not ovarian. Definitely worth mentioning to the doctor. It's very unlikely, but worth checking.

camelfinger · 13/06/2017 20:41

Is it squidgy like fat or solid like a pregnancy bump?

TheZeppo · 13/06/2017 20:41

Totalling irrelevant but you have beautiful hair OP

PeaFaceMcgee · 13/06/2017 20:41

Adding to those who say please ask them to screen you for an abdominal mass. I've been present as an observer (during midwifery training) for massive ovarian tumours being removed in theatre. Their bellies looked really similar and all grew over a 4-6 month period.

Hoping it's not of course, but do mention to the GP how rapidly and precisely your belly has swelled.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 13/06/2017 20:42

If you think you may have a gluten intolerance don't cut.out gluten just yet. Tell the GP because you must have been eating gluten for at least two weeks before a test for coeliac disease. Lots of wind, constipation, tiredness could all indicate this but could also indicate gall bladder problems (personal experience of both) going gluten free isn't a healthier option unless you actually are harmed by eating gluten. Gluten free foods are notoriously high in sugar and present.

Sidge · 13/06/2017 20:42

But she HAS gained weight all over - well not just her tummy, her arms, boobs and hips are bigger too and the OP says she has gained 1.5 stone.

I don't doubt most of it has gone on your tummy Nacho, but I do think that bloating is a large part of it. If you're really windy too have a look at your diet - some fruits and veggies can cause (or worsen) wind, and if you eat lots of fibre that can cause wind. Even a little slowing of the stools can cause gas and bloating, even if you're not truly constipated.

Try keeping a food diary and comparing it to your bloating, and see if you can see a pattern. Intolerances aren't that common really but some people do find certain foods aggravate wind and bloating.

HildaOg · 13/06/2017 20:45

It's probably just loose stomach muscles and eating too much recently. You don't need slimming world, the gym with weights would be better because you lack tone and core strength. You're not fat.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 13/06/2017 20:46

Yup you look pregnant my dear! Could be fat (most likely) could be cyst or fibroid though (less likely) so get yourself to the GP. I vaguely remember that abdominal fat (as opposed to in arms/legs) is really bad for your health as the fat is around your organs, so you really don't want this fat to stay. Fatty liver, bad. Fatty heart, even worse! If I'm wrong, someone correct me please.

You're pretty slim elsewhere so I think you've just accumulated it all in one place. Good luck!

WinifredAtwellsOtherPiano · 13/06/2017 20:47

There's lots of health related things that could be causing this. One of them is scary but most of them are very treatable. Good luck.

lobsterface · 13/06/2017 20:52

Please write down all of your symptoms including the acheing, bleeding, running to the loo, tired and take the list with you to the doc. It will be nothing but better to tell them the full picuture as in that photo you look like me when I had a stage 3 ovarian tumour which a smear cannot detect.

NachoAddict · 13/06/2017 21:01

Sorry to hear you had to deal with cancer Lobster and thank you for posting.

Well I am not going to panic just yet, it most likely is just the food I eat and I have been less active because I am so tired, gone from walking 5 plus miles a day to struggling to walk to the school and back bit I am not lazy normally.

Will make a list of everything that's been going on, even if it seems irrelevant and just ask the dr for a bit of an mot.

There is definitley something going on with me, wether that is related to my shape/size remains to be seen.

Poohbear that made me chuckle! I better be careful not to shoot the poor dog with my darts. He already gets the blame for my stinky farts.

See your GP

CoolCarrie · 13/06/2017 21:20

I know just how you feel op! I put on 3st since December and I look just the same as you, all belly and double chin, and I can't bear to look in the mirror now. My gp has also mentioned the gluten free route as well, but I have friends who say that all the meat, butter etc can't be good, I am at my wits end too

CoolCarrie · 13/06/2017 21:22

Good luck with your doctor this week, hope it is all well health wise for you.

NachoAddict · 13/06/2017 21:24

Thanks everyone. Fingers crossed I am just chubby and a healthier diet will sort me out.

Doesn't explain the tiredness though xx

OP posts:
NearlyEaster · 13/06/2017 21:28

I look like you if I need a wee or have eaten something that doesn't agree with me.

Look at low carb diets - that will help you cut the gluten. It's a good diet for diabetes too.

Rachie1986 · 13/06/2017 21:29

Another one just saying I would mention it all to the doctors - no harm in that - and see what they say x
