HE used a disposable BBQ on the floor? What a tit!

It's between him and LL, don't get involved!

Op, are you subletting to Melisandre ?

keeplooking · 13/06/2017 22:06

You're being very guarded, op. I don't see how this is outing. This kind of thing happens all the time. Grin

And some baby dragons emerge from the scorched decking...

troodiedoo · 13/06/2017 22:25

Dragons definitely not permitted under the tenancy agreement Wink

Right, you need to sand like crazy but there is a correct way to sand decking and it's a pain in the arse as its just faffy.

You'll need an electric sander - you can get a decent one from Screwfix for about £15 that doesn't vibrate your arm off and doesn't blast dust in your face. You'll also need a thin piece of wood, about 6" long and some sandpaper of course and medium grits.

Use the electric sander all over the burnt area and lightly blend over the non-burnt bit. The sander however only sands the raised sections of decking. To get the the grooves, wrap the course sandpaper round the thin piece of wood (you can use a ruler if you have one), place it in the groove and sand. To get rid of any noticeable sanding scratches, go over with the medium grit after. Wear gloves or you'll bash the crap out your knuckles.

Once sanded, get a dry paintbrush and get rid of all the dust, then wipe down with a damp sponge. Leave to fully dry. You now need to apply a finish to the decking to match what it was before, so either decking oil, stain, varnish or paint.
