Dear Fred, the smoking neighbour.

littlemissneela · 12/06/2017 13:16

truley I am picturing the damage to be more pic number two Grin

I hate decking. If its not slippery due to rain and or algae, then its a wasp magnet to help them build their nests and annoy me during the summer when trying to spend time in the garden. Or its a hiding place for mahoosive spiders urgh

BusterGonad · 12/06/2017 13:33

Fizzy 😂

Jux · 12/06/2017 17:52

Burning it was probably the best thing you could do with it.

pipsqueak25 · 12/06/2017 19:49

truely LOVE your photos ! Grin. i fear the general sniffery about decking has scared the op off. she possibly feels awkward about responding.

sizeofalentil · 12/06/2017 20:16

Was there a spider on it? Because if so, that was the only correct response.

Teutonic · 12/06/2017 20:57

I have an image in my head of what happened.
After a heavy shower, the OP decided to have a bbq with hard boiled eggs and everything.
Her DF was going across the decking quickly to snag his share of the food when he slipped.
This caused him to slide across the decking, while doing an impression of Ravels Bolero before crashing into the patio set.
A flying chair knocked the bbq over onto the decking, which due to recently being given a coat of cupinol, went up in a raging inferno, which in turn burnt down the garden she'd and half of the fencing.

Do I win? 😀

ComputerUserNotTrained · 12/06/2017 23:49

Teutonic are you a plot writer for Casualty?

Out2pasture · 12/06/2017 23:57

truley those planks if stained by ink could be flipped over or sanded and worse case scenario the 3 boards would have to be replaced. no biggy.

i'me with the others OP photo or it didn't happen

MargotLovedTom1 · 13/06/2017 00:03

"Ravel's Bolero" Grin.

I bloody hate decking after going arse over tit on my friend's. Yes, I was pissed and yes, I shouldn't have been going out for a (rare) crafty fag, but honestly, it is evil stuff. I nearly broke a bloody hip! Angry

PovertyPain · 13/06/2017 00:12

*diagram or didnt happen

I intend to say this a lot today grin*

In that case, you'd better stay of the sex threads. 😄

troodiedoo · 13/06/2017 04:10

😂😂😂

AcrossthePond55 · 13/06/2017 04:47

It happens. Our NDN burnt down one of our back decks, a pergola, and our gazebo. Flames scorched our garage and came within 5 feet of our back porch. All started by an out of control illegal burn pile that got away from him. Idiot.

Shadow666 · 13/06/2017 05:29

At our local park, they installed the plastic decking that looks like wood and someone obviously tried to have a BBQ on it. What a mess!

I agree we need more details.

If we're placing bets then I'd say he was smoking, dropped the cigarette on the decking and stamped on it to put it out and it burnt a hole. If so, I wouldn't bother replacing it. If it's damaged that easily it'll be trashed soon enough anyway.

If he attacked it with a flame thrower making a YouTube prank video, then he's a twat and you're right to make him replace it.

HTH Grin

keeplooking · 13/06/2017 08:06

Maybe op's df dislikes decking intensely, ripped it all up with misguided zeal, thinking he was doing her a favour (in the long term) and burnt it on a large bonfire. Now he's seen how upset she is, and is evidently contrite, but unfortunately broke, atm.

ilikelampxyz · 13/06/2017 09:04

Had a disposable BBQ on the decking and it has burnt off and turned black. We live in a rented property. Pissed off

Ok we STILL need more info OP! Who is DF? Father, friend of fiancé?

BusterGonad · 13/06/2017 09:10

So little information yet so much we need to know!

BusterGonad · 13/06/2017 09:12

Could DF be dear father the vicar???

ilikelampxyz · 13/06/2017 09:13

Friend

Those disposable barbecues have a lot to answer for. Maybe they should include them in school science lessons...

haveacupoftea · 13/06/2017 09:16

God how bad can it be? Did you try sanding the burnt bits off Confused

troodiedoo · 13/06/2017 09:17

Presumably you were present while the bbq ing was happening and/ or gave permission for it?

Finola1step · 13/06/2017 09:18

Were you present when said friend lit a disposable BBQ on the decking of your rented house?
