We live in a democracy! We have the right to vote whoever we chose.

By all means educate or express the reasons why you are voting for x.

But stop insulting or trying to guilt people into choosing the same vote as you.

You reached your decision using your own mind. So therefore let others!! Ffs.

@Leap - "she's been bullied in the past"

The past?!?! It is bloody happening NOW! And that's the worst possible thing she could do isn't it - prioritise her child's education?! I am a labour voter and I will send my child to private school if necessary because the provision of good education in the UK is so patchy. Know why it isn't in Finland/Norway etc because they have high levels of taxation and ALL the state schools are good. So there is no private/public debate, but yes Corbyn, communist, Magic money tree, Diane Abbott blah, blah, blah.

What a joke.

ALeapOfFaith · 08/06/2017 00:43

But it wasn't acceptable for David Cameron to prioritise his children's education then, no?

ALeapOfFaith · 08/06/2017 00:47

BTW I don't think it's the worse she could do. The worst she could do would be to turn up to a televised interview on national security after 2 terrorist attacks and not have read the bloody report on recommendations...

Zebra31 · 08/06/2017 00:51

I didn't think it would take long. Here we go. Grin

Zebra31 · 08/06/2017 00:54

I always wonder where people are planning on going

Well, I am leaving the country on Friday if the Conservatives get in. Or if Labour win. Basically, I'm going on holiday...

FairyDogMother11 · 08/06/2017 02:13

Amen to that! I've been asked about four times today who I'm voting for and then aggressively been advised they "DON'T MIND SO LONG AS YOU'RE VOTING FOR LABOUR" Confused

NonStopDisco · 08/06/2017 02:23

The ones that irritate me are the people who post on Facebook claiming to have no idea who to vote for, have no idea who anyone is and don't know what anyone's policies are (jealous that their feed is obviously not full of articles etc). Always leads to a massive argument where people "discuss" the merits of each candidate. Supporters of all parties are "idiots", or various other pleasantries. It always makes me think they're just having a bit of a troll.

Carolinesbeanies · 08/06/2017 02:53

"Like or loathe, I think that the Brexit & JC effect have engaged more people in politics - there's been too many years of apathy."

I wish that were true, but I fear apathy is still alive and kicking. The only difference Ive noticed in the last few years is the 'passion' being expressed online. Thats been a new phenomena. I dont think its politics as such, more a social media impact. Completely agree with the ridiculous 'meme' thing. Will SM encourage more to vote? I really dont know. Perhaps a few non-voters may have been swung if only to piss off the poster who keeps on about it? Theres something quite satisfying about defying an opinionated and virtue signalling idiot. Like the BBC............... Smile

olliegarchy99 · 08/06/2017 05:47

well this thread went a bit off point round about page 3 - but a nice try Shock

MrsTrentReznor · 08/06/2017 06:26

I'm looking forward to my Facebook going back to being pictures of dogs tbh.
The rabid scaremongering is doing my head in.
"TM is evil!! Corbyn is a Jedi! Vote for him!" (Insert some shady meme about some numbers that suit agenda)
"ZOMG!! You don't care about people dying! You are racist! Bigot! Evil! Educate yourself!!" (Froth froth)

All finishes today! Woohoo!!

frogsgoladidahdidah · 08/06/2017 06:28

I haven't heard anyone except the politicians themselves trying to influence the votes of others...

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 08/06/2017 06:53

I agree to an extent (I'm so fucking bored of it all, my Facebook wall has remained blissfully politics-free this time as I'm an apathetic "ah yeah ok I'll vote Labour because they're the best chance of keeping the Tories out in my constituency" voter rather than a properly passionate voter like I have been in the past. My timeline is absolutely bonkers though, massive arguments all over the shop).

But the posts about "drama llamas" and "the sky is falling" type-posts leave a bad taste in my mouth. Some of the people you're mocking will just be drama llamas, sure, but some will be genuinely terrified of how they'll survive another five years. Not how they'll cope, but literally how they'll survive, particularly if they're poor or disabled. If you've voted Conservative and you think their posts are just hysterical or "drama llama"-ing, why not explain to them why you think the Conservative policies will be the best thing for them, rather than mocking them?

I'm being genuinely serious there. People are scared. If you're on the "winning" side tomorrow morning, use what you know about your party to reassure them that things won't be as bad, instead of smirking and posting about drinking champagne and laughing at their hysterics as has happened in the past on here.

Obviously the same goes vice versa if Labour wins but let's face it, it's not going to happen.

Judgydog · 08/06/2017 06:58

Agree 100%. I'm staunch Labour but accept that not everyone is and respect that. Facebook rants from fellow lefties branding Tory voters "cunts", "pea brained" and the like make me cringe actually. I'm still posting pics of puppies & kittens btw Grin

So much this.

LittleBooInABox · 08/06/2017 07:08

What people don't see if the mud slinging and abuse will only lead to people not bothering with politics. Which is sad to see.

Friendship groups and families are torn apart by hatred. It's stupid!

HoneyDragon · 08/06/2017 07:12

The elections terribly timed imo for mnet. Next week a large proportion of voters will be posting AIBU to leave the country because /left/right/coalition are in power type posts. By the time that dies down it will be the school holiday days and then full of trolls. Then September and people demanding other people don't talk about Christmas.

No hope for PARD at all this year, sadly.

TeacupDrama · 08/06/2017 07:22

Yes and come Friday supposed party X gets the largest share at 43% they will be out in force saying 57% voted against them and turnout was only 70% so actually only 31% really voted for them, personally if 30% don't vote they should be assumed to be happy with result as they obviously didn't care either way. They conveniently forget that party Z that they voted for on 38% actually has more people that don't want them on the same analysis.

Actually for most people life changes very very little it's tinkering at the edges, very little previous legislation is reversed, very few spending plans alter much, on Friday the sun will rise, people will rant, a few surprise results, folks talk about it at work the sun will set and by Monday most folks will haved moved on

I'm not saying voting doesn't matter, l always vote but the sky will not fall in, we will still be living in one of the richest countries in the world.
