We live in a democracy! We have the right to vote whoever we chose.

By all means educate or express the reasons why you are voting for x.

But stop insulting or trying to guilt people into choosing the same vote as you.

You reached your decision using your own mind. So therefore let others!! Ffs.

Oh he's definitely a cunt. He's just updated his status telling people if they are unsure on who to vote for, labour will give us 4 extra bank holidays.

Walkingtowork · 07/06/2017 20:14

In my local Labour party you'd get a right bollocking for calling anyone names for their voting choices. My guess is most of the nasty ones aren't party members and don't actually care much about politics, it's just a chance to bully/prop up their fragile egos.

ChinaRose · 07/06/2017 20:17

Definitely. I can't stand these aggressive types. Our local labour guy recently told everyone to go on our local 'tory boys' page to laugh at some comments on a particular update. It was like high school bullying

Zebra31 · 07/06/2017 20:20

Whats worse is that Friday is going to be full of I'm leaving this country threads and we're all doomed threads.

This happens everytime there's an election. I wonder how many people have actually left the country since the last general election. Hmm

RMC123 · 07/06/2017 20:20

Agree. But have to say we have just come back from the USA and if think it's bad here... OMG it's vicious over there and their election is over!

Walkingtowork · 07/06/2017 20:21

Almost every one of the hundreds of Labour volunteers I've ever worked with have been lovely people. These childish idiots who are so black and white about it are not the same ones putting in the hard work - please do not think they represent the party they're advocating in any way.

AgentCooper · 07/06/2017 20:21

Yes. A guy on my FB has requested that any Tory voters identify themselves and let him take them for a pint so he can explain to them why it's wrong to vote Tory.

I hate the Tories and will never vote for them but that's not fucking democracy. And it's tiresome.

LovelyBath77 · 07/06/2017 20:21

Totally agree. I'm lucky as don;t seem to have any FB memes or the like - I did have a sponsored post from the Lib gems though- they are out in force around here as well! But mainly puppies and the like. Hang on, I have unfollowed most people though, that's probably why!

Charmageddon · 07/06/2017 20:23

I'd say if you can afford to be jaded by it, rather than terrified, then you're in an incredibly privileged position.

*People are genuinely afraid they're not going to be able to feed their families, that they're going to be forced to work through their disability. People are scared - so they try and persuade others to see things from their point of view.

So yes, in my opinion, YABU. But glad that you'll be able to forget about it all in a few days*

See, you are saying this from an anti-Tory position, but for me I see it differently.

I am terrified that if this version of Labour get in, the damage they do to the economy & country will be immense.

I personally will be better off under JC for the short period of unicorns & glitter - but then I will be one of those crushed & worse off in the ensuing fall-out as I rely heavily on the state at the moment.

HS2whattodo · 07/06/2017 20:25

I'm that sick of it I don't care who wins now. All of them are bullshitters

PortiaCastis · 07/06/2017 20:25

Vote for who you want and let others do the same without all the bile

Whatsername17 · 07/06/2017 20:27

My 6yo just asked me who I was voting for and when I said Labour, she asked if I had to vote Labour because I'd just 'done labour' when I had her baby sister! Grin I agree with the op.

Deckthehallswithjammydodgers · 07/06/2017 20:29

This with bells on ! It's everywhere on every social media place I'm on with people trying to get you to vote Labour mainly I actually haven't seen many people trying to change people's minds to conservative I can't wait until it's done and announced then maybe we can talk about something else.

Lilmisskittykat · 07/06/2017 20:30

Yes !! Exactly that.. then vote and move on and not judge anyone for what they did or didn't vote for

PortiaCastis · 07/06/2017 20:33

I don't think people will change their minds based on internet randoms ranting on social media. I just laugh as folk get all irate when they've no idea if they're engaging with a journo or a teenager on anonymous forums

AdoraBell · 07/06/2017 20:34

YANBU.

DH spoke to a teenager who was excited about voting, turned 18 this week, but her father has told her she is never allowed to vote for 'the Tories'. DH mentioned that only she can decide who she votes for. I hope she remembers that.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 07/06/2017 20:41

Oh fuck yes! I am so sick of the never ending Tories eat kittens for Brexit/Labour voters deserve sainthood threads. Vote for whomever you want but stop fucking trying to persuade me!

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 07/06/2017 20:44

Well said OP Wine

PenguindreamsofDraco · 07/06/2017 20:45

breakfast not brexit!

gingercat02 · 07/06/2017 20:54

Absolutely but just vote! Or spoil your paper if you must but make your feelings heard whatever they are. Millions of people appear to not care what happens to the people of our amazing country

ArchieStar · 07/06/2017 21:05

@altiara you're welcome Grin

Smellbellina · 07/06/2017 21:15

Yes. A guy on my FB has requested that any Tory voters identify themselves and let him take them for a pint so he can explain to them why it's wrong to vote Tory.
I hate the Tories and will never vote for them but that's not fucking democracy. And it's tiresome.

What?? How is that undemocratic?

Basecamp21 · 07/06/2017 21:19

If your vote really is so unimportant that you can just shrug your shoulders at the results. ...then why are we bothering to waste tax payers money having an election.

Might as well just let the civil servants run the country and do away with the politicians

If you do not want to see or read about it don't - it's totally in your own hands. Take some responsibility for your own life. In moaning about what other people feel passionatelyabout I fail to see how you are so different!!!!

littlehandcuffs · 07/06/2017 21:43

Phew! So glad I have a lovely group of friends who vote completely differently and yet don't call each cunts etc.. I love being a grown up!

mrsglowglow · 07/06/2017 21:45

Yes!!! Sick of fb posts from well meaning know it alls kindly offering to educate us on who we need and must vote for. And yes I'm preparing for all the "right that's it I'm leaving the UK" posts come Friday!
