If you wake up and are still under conservative rule?

Not goady, just genuinely interested in how you intend to make life better for yourself and those around you

An honest question to all the people, with the uk spending billions of pounds a month more than it brings in, where do you think the extra money should come from to pay for all the services we all want, Nhs,education, etc

Pry the Tory boot off the throat of the economy?

hottotrotsky · 07/06/2017 11:44

No sobeyond. That's not the question. Look at OP again. You've fallen in to a trap.

Labour supporters may be in for a pleasant surprise Friday

makeourfuture · 07/06/2017 11:45

So much potential they are holding back.

I think not cutting corporation tax while bleating about not having money for essential public services would be a good start, user.

Badders123 · 07/06/2017 11:49

Start looking into private healthcare
And ty to convince Dh to leave the uk

StormTreader · 07/06/2017 11:52

Short term? Ill be on facebook and messenger, trying to console my friends who live on disability benefits and will be sobbing in fear at their future under more years of Tory cuts, as they were at the last election.

Long term, I'll be trying to ramp up my current plan to try and stash away as much money as possible towards a much more expensive and austere future - I believe the NHS will be stripped officially beyond the point of recovery and private healthcare will become essential in the next 5-10 years, and I quite like not dying.

YouWhatMate · 07/06/2017 11:53

Be glad I emigrated.

...and vaguely sad for an England that seems to be determined to run itself into the floor to enrich a small tranche of the population.

Badders123 · 07/06/2017 11:54

Yep.
Saving as much as poss.
Start making cutbacks.
It's going to be fucking grim

hottotrotsky · 07/06/2017 11:54

In the space of a few weeks a predicted Tory landslide has given way to speculation about a reduced majority, hung parliament or even a Labour victory.

That's a vague summation of commentary where I live. This thread is fishy much.

TickleMcTickleFace · 07/06/2017 11:56

Friday I'll be filled by despair and trying to avoid eating my feelings. Saturday will be for silver linings - Corbyn will hopefully step down, the Tories will be responsible for Brexit and will more than likely lose their undeserved reputation at being a steady pair of hands when it come to the nation's finances. They can no longer blame labour for everything as they'll have been at the helm for (far too many) years. Sunday will be a day of ranting to like minded friends then Monday it's time to get on with it but to be fair a couple of Tory policies actually help me on a personal level but I will still be devastated.

user1486062886 · 07/06/2017 12:03

I agree about corporation tax, where else could we save money or raise revenue without cutting services

sobeyondthehills · 07/06/2017 12:03

hottotrotsky

I must be missing something this is how the OP reads to me

To wonder labour supporters what you are all going to do on Friday

If you wake up and are still under conservative rule?

Its sometimes how I phrase questions on here if the title is too long as you can only see certain bits on laptops/apps

CitrusSun · 07/06/2017 12:04

Maybe money could come from changing Tory policy of giving the ultra rich a tax break and being afraid to confront wealthy corporations who dodge tax, why not deal with them and claw back the millions of unpaid tax from the top? Oh but wait, they're all buddies aren't they, can't be doing that, all doing each other financial favours and living as fat cats, all as greedy and hypocritical as each other. Nothing will change, Friday will be just another day in this regime, we've lived with it long enough, we'll carry on, just doing what we can to make our situation the best it can be and helping others as much as we can, because someone has to.

deugain · 07/06/2017 12:05

bizarre and depressing thread with everyone presuming Labour will lose. I live abroad but why such a foregone conclusion? Or is this more astroturfing creating false narrative of resignation?

I've already voted by post.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2017-39856354

Labour made impressive gains over course of campaign and at least it's now a possibility they could form next government - just less likely.

I also don't think it will be a major defeat for labour if they don't form the next government - if they can gain some seats they'll have done well.

My nightmare would be TM having an massively increased majority giving her a mandate to get more damaging police through.

gillybeanz · 07/06/2017 12:06

I'll be wondering and worrying why so many seemingly intelligent people are so easily brainwashed by Murdoch.
It's been a revelation over the past months.
You know it's brainwashing as the people state exactly what they have read, word for word. Not even their own thinking, I find this the scariest tbh, far worse than the actual policies the governments come up with.
I'm not sure whether to pity them, or just hope the survival of the fittest will do it's job on them.

quizqueen · 07/06/2017 12:06

'If you wake up and are still under conservative rule'........

We don't live under a dictatorship, It 's called DEMOCRACY.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 07/06/2017 12:11

I am not going to vote labour but I am going to wake up scared on Friday as I expect a conservative victory.

I am in recovery from cancer which almost went undetected because of funding cuts and targets. I am very scared that if I get ill again I may end up reliant on benefits and under a Tory government that is a scary prospect

The IFS made clear that the Tory Manifesto was unworkable because of the damage it would do to public services . As a teacher and the parent of two children that makes me scared

In the short term we will increase our donations to charities and food banks as they will need it. I will probably be subsiding my classroom more than I already do.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 07/06/2017 12:13

We have looked at affordable private health insurance but being a public sector worker we can't afford it .

ChasedByBees · 07/06/2017 12:16

Apply for citizenship of the EU county I have eligible citizenship for.

IrianOfW · 07/06/2017 12:17

Swear a little. Get on with stuff. Attempt to temper my eldest childrens' furious ranting with a little humour (after Brexit and Trump it went on for bloody days)

Possibly go for a long run and listen to music and cry.

SeekEveryEveryKnownHidingPlace · 07/06/2017 12:17

We don't live under a dictatorship, It 's called DEMOCRACY

What do you mean? Waking up under Conservative rule would be a democractically achieved outcome which very many people would be unhappy with.

sweetbitter · 07/06/2017 12:17

I'll be consoling myself with the notion that it's a poisoned chalice, and governing through Brexit will do sufficient long term damage to the Tories that they won't win another election for a while after this one.

NameChanger22 · 07/06/2017 12:17

I work with a team of brexit supporters/Tories so on Friday I'll spend the day biting my tongue and keeping myself to myself. My managers will be celebrating. They will have voted to lose their jobs.

For a year now I've been wanting to emigrate, but it's almost impossible to do that as a single parent. So, I'll probably just worry more and get on with things as best I can.
