If you wake up and are still under conservative rule?

Not goady, just genuinely interested in how you intend to make life better for yourself and those around you

Unimaginable really. We will be getting used to a hard boarder in the future I presume. Disaster for our economy, local businesses and farmers. Times will get hard. Thanks.

GretchenFranklin · 07/06/2017 10:47

I will shrug my shoulders and get on with things.

Wait for the giant cock-up as May attempts to negotiate Brexit and the vote of no confidence in her when it all comes crashing down.

Look forward to 2022 when Corbyn/Cooper or ...Starmer? ... stride into No10 with a landslide majority.

Faithless · 07/06/2017 10:52

It's been happening for years. I get used to feeling alien in my own country, try to gravitate away from Tory sympathisers and carry on doing a bit of activism to promote funding for public services and the NHS. At least I live in a Labour stronghold now, so I feel more at home. Also, keep bleating on about how much money there actually is in this country and how lovely things would be if it just got shared a little more equally.

silkybear · 07/06/2017 10:53

Have a massive glass of wine even though im pregnant and dont usually drink when I am. Cry. Not speak to my mum for the day. Google houses abroad. But after a while feel really optimistic about three things: the tories will have to lie in their shitty brexit bed and cant blame labour when it goes to tits up. May will probably not get the majority she needs and her position is likely going to be untenable. Corbyn has run an amazing campaign and has proved to the blairites that people do want his policies, he will hopefully stay on and we will have a robust opposition against the tory shitshow.

LaContessaDiPlump · 07/06/2017 10:58

The most I'm letting myself hope for is that TM loses her majority, so the Tories will at least be somewhat tempered by some other party (please God not UKIP).

I'm trying to tell myself that I will manage to be pleased if that, at least, happens. Really I'll be gutted though, as will DH, the kids and all of my friends/family. We might order pizza to cheer ourselves up.

On Saturday I'll do a massive shop and donate a load of it to the local food bank (will do that anyway though).

LadySalmakia · 07/06/2017 10:59

Oh also I will probably spend some time distracting myself by looking at dogs at polling station pictures. And it's always a good day to thin out your Facebook friends when the gloating shy tories come out.

TresDesolee · 07/06/2017 11:00

The implication that Labour supporters are solely responsible for making society more generous/functional is irritating (obviously the implied meaning is that we do nothing). One of my best friends is a staunch Tory. She also visits lonely old folks in our community, runs the food bank and gives 10% of her (low) earnings to charity. I don't vote the same way as she does but her community spirit and generosity is really something. It's on all of us to make things better, OP. You, for instance, could perhaps start by not being snide about millions of people you don't personally know?

Cleorapter · 07/06/2017 11:01

Cry.
Probably rage a bit.
Then get over it and carry on.

Will also look to emigrate in a few years time if possible. In fact have already started looking into it ☺

MrsMeeseeks · 07/06/2017 11:02

I think I shall probably cry for a bit, rage at all the selfish Tories, and then calm down and keep on buggering on, I suppose.

MrsMeeseeks · 07/06/2017 11:03

Bit of a weird question. Why do you ask, OP?

TresDesolee · 07/06/2017 11:04

Eek! Apologies Op I just re-read your post and I think I took it wrong way Blush Sorry!

steppemum · 07/06/2017 11:05

Rage against the stupid selfish fuckers that voted Tory

this really pisses me off. I am not a tory suporter, but most people (not all, but that goes for all parties) Most people take it seriously and vote for the people they think will be best for the country.

My dad is a staunch conservative, he takes it very seriously. He votes tory because he believes on balance that they will be better for the country, mainly because they will get the economy going and then there will be enough money for all the lovely things labour likes to promise.

he is not a selfish fucker. He is a highly educated serious caring man, who happens to disagree with you as to the best way to sort the country out.
I happen to disagree with him, and so does my mum, but we don;t agree with each other either!

Biker47 · 07/06/2017 11:05

Probably be a number of protests on Saturday because people can't understand how a democracy works, (like the last time) and think that during a highly alert time, the best use of police resources should be to babysit a number of lefty blowhards walking around a city centre carrying a a placard with a anti-tory meme on it.

hoddtastic · 07/06/2017 11:06

i will be waiting for our local CLP to implode into a(nother) furious civil war after a period of calm and unity.

I am making plans to do something positive, come what may (hopefully not May).

I'm spending the day working on a project combatting social isolation, in our local library.

CaptainBrickbeard · 07/06/2017 11:09

Biker, its ironic that you believe protests demonstrate a lack of understanding of what democracy is. The right to peaceful protests is a fairly key cornerstone of democracy!

TeddyIsaHe · 07/06/2017 11:12

Be very ranty for a day or two, and that will slow down to one or two large rants a day for a while ("fuck sake just remembered who's Prime Minister aarrgghhhh"). Seriously consider giving up teacher training, whinge about that a lot. Donate to the Labour Party and get together food bank donations, because at least then I'm doing something useful instead of just being angry and moaning.

MorriH · 07/06/2017 11:12

Be glad I sorted my visa to live abroad, and be sorry for my friends and their children who don't have the escape option.

deugain · 07/06/2017 11:14

Is anyone really expecting a labour government?

They this election started 20 points behind in the polls.

I'm more a floating voter but would be pleased to see back of this conservative government with it's current polices - I was hoping they'd have a smaller majority and a credible re-energised opposition making it harder for them to push through contentious and damaging policies.

Even if that doesn't happen I assume most people will keep on doing what they were doing before this election.

Biker47 · 07/06/2017 11:14

I know exactly what democracy is, but after a country has been attacked two times within the space of two weeks. A protest two days after an election in the middle of this (which could be held anytime as it has no effect on the result) is stupid, when the police have other things to be getting on with.

getoffthesofa · 07/06/2017 11:14

weep.

Alfieisnoisy · 07/06/2017 11:15

Continue to worry for my autistic son as he grows towards adulthood. I will likely start distancing myself from friends and relations who voted Tory in the full knowledge that people have suffered. I will consider that this is a vote from them for more of the same and I will take that as a personal insult against my son and all other vulnerable people out there.

I won't be joining any marches or protests that need policing....would be interested to know where that particular Tory poster thinks those police are coming from given that the Vicar's Daughter has slashed their numbers.

I will start actually hating people who vote Tory...and that will include my relatives who do so. They can all fuck right off and I hope their vote bites them on the bum in the most straightforward and painful way. Only then might they learn.

Yes am feeling very bitter today,

Neverknowing · 07/06/2017 11:17

Nothing. If TM wins (which she probably will) I will wish her the best and back her. Hopefully she won't fuck everything up and well still have an NHS at the end of five years.
I really want to know if people who are voting Tory will be mad if the NHS is gone, will they regret their decision ? From what I've seen they don't want the NHS to fail.
I really think Corbyn will be the last real and honest politician that wants to make this country better, he genuinely doesn't want to allow his rich friends to dodge tax and he isn't just out for himself. I'll be sad if he doesn't get in but tbh that's life, that's democracy. Even if I had the power I wouldn't force people to vote for him.

Alfieisnoisy · 07/06/2017 11:17

And no I am not expecting g a Labour Government but I will be bitter,y disappointed in the humanity of this country if it is an outright easy win for the Tories. I want them realising that a lot of people in this country are angry and scared about their future. I am talking g if the people who cannot change their lot with any degree of ease,
