I think my dislike of the entire family has turned itself into a sort of physical repulsion. I know what you mean about Eric, even though it's unfair. In DJT's case it's the expression on his face that is so loathsome. And even Ivanka is in my opinion really weird looking facially once you get beyond the perfect coiffure and make up. Though, as I said, that could just be my extreme dislike of them all. They represent so much that is horrible to me that I can't look at them without feeling an intense physical spasm of disgust.

It's working for me cozie. I'm using a desktop (if that makes a difference?)

cozietoesie · 07/06/2017 11:10

Thanks, Pain. I'll just keep on trying then.

Unrelated to trump, but I was speaking to somebody this morning who works in the same building as me and who is perfectly lovely; we often have a chat about DC, wider world etc. She was talking about how her group were taking a vote on some issue and casually said, "And whatever the result we'll respect it, unlike Brexit! I really don't understand these people who are trying to keep change the outcome until they get what they want".

I said that I thought people might have voted to leave but not what that would look like, which is what people are now talking about (staying in the single market etc) and she genuinely looked like she'd never thought of that before and went on to say, "I suppose they should have made it clear before the vote took place".

I've not been able to shake off this conversation because as I say, she's lovely and not someone who sticks her head in the sand but if even she hasn't given it any more thought beyond vacuous soundbites, what chance is there? We were interrupted so I don't know for sure but I can only assume that she'll be voting Conservative.

Ha, I have been feeling very despondent this morning, trying to prepare for disappointment on Friday moning but this made me snort:

Donald Trump challenges Sadiq Khan to IQ test
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Donald Trump has challenged the new London mayor to an IQ test after Sadiq Khan said he was ignorant.
Mr Khan reacted to Mr Trump's latest comments, saying his views on Islam were ignorant.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/06/2017 11:30

It's not from today but I hadn't seen it before

TheClaws · 07/06/2017 11:32

He's got into a pissing contest with the Mayor of London? Shock

The President of the United States?

cozietoesie · 07/06/2017 11:50

I know. It almost defies belief

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/06/2017 12:07

It was from May last year, so before he was president but just after Khan was elected.

TheClaws · 07/06/2017 12:36

Ah, they have a history, pretty much created and sensationalised by Trump then.

TheClaws · 07/06/2017 12:38

ie. Khan has been given the FAKE NEWS treatment by the master himself.

cozietoesie · 07/06/2017 12:53

Interesting take by The Hill on tomorrow's testimony.

Comey testimony

You'll note the short para:

"If we see him giving the sense that he’s unbounded in what he has a willingness to say, that may be an indicator that Mueller doesn’t see an obstruction case there.”

Ah. Wray represented Chris Christie.

Are Coats and Rosenstein testifying today in closed session?

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 07/06/2017 14:37

Yes, I believe so

cozietoesie · 07/06/2017 14:44

Ah. I stopped being lazy and checked. Seemingly, the hearing starts off live and then goes into closed session. I guess you can count that as 'closed' then.

AcrossthePond55 · 07/06/2017 14:55

MSNBC is showing people milling around waiting for the session to begin. Saying they will be bringing testimony live.

So at least some of it will be public.
