he's also the reason Trump is in power so easy people, easy.....

He comes across to me as one of those public servants who sees his only loyalty as being to the country, not to any person, party or individual no matter their position. My feeling is he said what he said on the Clinton emails because he personally thought it was what he had to do. Now, I think he was wrong, but I don't think he did it specifically to benefit Trump as such.

Natsku · 08/06/2017 17:08

Comes across to me that way as well Bigly I've heard him described as 'a boy scout' - he does what he thinks is the right thing to do

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 17:10

Yes, I would add I don't think that necessarily makes someone a good person as such, but I can respect the position.

Natsku · 08/06/2017 17:12

Agree, think he just took his job very seriously and that it was his job to act upon things regardless of potential consequences.

AcrossthePond55 · 08/06/2017 17:16

I agree. And loyalty to country above your 'superiors' is one of the basic principles of Govt Service. We all take an oath that states in part;

"I will protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies both foreign and domestic and bear true faith and allegiance to the same."

Nothing in there about 'loyalty' to one's superiors, is there? Comey was simply living up to what is required of all government employees.

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 17:25

Apparently Huckabee is giving an off camera briefing to the press. Spicer is in hiding it seems.

Roussette · 08/06/2017 17:29

Sky has just cut to Trump giving a live speech...

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 17:30

Oh wow! What's he going to say?

Natsku · 08/06/2017 17:31

I'm so tired, want to go to bed, how long do might this be?

Roussette · 08/06/2017 17:33

Obviously Trump's not saying anything because they've cut back to the hearing..

Roussette · 08/06/2017 17:35

McCain is very very rambly.

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 17:35

What is McCain going on about? Confused

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 17:37

Is he seriously trying to pull Clinton into this? Ffs Shock

BiglyBadgers · 08/06/2017 17:40

And that's a wrap folks

MicrowaveSpy · 08/06/2017 17:40

He really really is Shock

Roussette · 08/06/2017 17:44

Now live to Trump slating the press. Idiot

He is talking about hearing from people you respect and "you picked a winner". (He means himself) Shock

Natsku · 08/06/2017 17:44

Was McCain drunk or something? He was not making much sense

PerkingFaintly · 08/06/2017 17:44

McCain is doing just doing incoherent word salad to involve Clinton without having anything concrete to say.

"Clinton... not prosecuted... unfair... investigation... unfair... Clinton... double-standards."

If he's not dunce, then he's a knave.

Anniegetyourgun · 08/06/2017 17:48

I'm glad McCain came over as such a bumbler (getting names mixed up at least twice) when trying to make the complete non-point re the Clinton email investigation vs Russian interference. Or maybe, since it was such a non-point, it helped him to be vague.

cozietoesie · 08/06/2017 17:48

McCain lost it. He got the wrong end of the stick entirely.

cozietoesie · 08/06/2017 17:49

There was one point that no-one pursued. It will come to me.

cozietoesie · 08/06/2017 17:52

Ah Yes. Why Comey felt a special prosecutor would be counter-productive in the Clinton case (or such words as he used) but didn't make the same assertion about subsequent ........matters.

AcrossthePond55 · 08/06/2017 17:52

I think McCain's 'Hilary was found innocent but Trump is still under investigation, that's not fair treatment' was trying to make people think that Comey 'has it in' for Trump. You can bet the Trumpettes will jump on this like ducks on June bugs!

No, Sen McCain. Hillary was found innocent because it was proven that she did not commit any criminal acts. Trump is still under investigation because at this time the same cannot be said for him.

cozietoesie · 08/06/2017 17:54

It was two separate matters as well, Across.

cozietoesie · 08/06/2017 17:57

I received the feeling that McCain is losing it so the whole hearing - who saw the fact - 'let it go' on the grounds of general civility.
