I'm not being goady, but what is the ethical justification for selling arms to Saudi Arabia?

OP posts:

Blush Blush Blush

Rhayader · 05/06/2017 22:32

Even Justin Trudeau sells arms to the Saudis. Labour did it, Tories do it.

For money for the Tories! The same reason that the Tories do anything. If this happened under Labour (which I doubt, I was told today that Labour started selling the NHS to Virgin Care and so looked into it and surprise surprise it was the Tories in 2016!) but if they did that was before all of these seemingly endless attacks so why aren't the Tories even prepared to review the situation???

You're aware we've been selling arms to the Saudi's for decades under various administrations right?

You're aware that 7/7 happened under a Labour government right?

You're aware you're talking absolute shite right?

WalkingOnLeg0 · 05/06/2017 22:35

Saudi is the only stable country in the Middle East. Why dont we just fuck them over and destroy the whole region. Do we get points for a full sweep?

metspengler · 05/06/2017 22:58

I question how so many of you "non conservatives" can have failed to look into this in your lives, ever before.

I mean this is a bit like thinking Theresa May invented France or something.

metspengler · 05/06/2017 22:59

It is becoming apparent Labour bots do not even care if what they are saying is false, and just say it anyway for how it looks to people who aren't paying attention.

mellongoose · 06/06/2017 06:05

No-one has answered Olivia's question yet? I'd also like to know the answer.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 06:19

It allows the continuation of Tory apathy to/hatred of green energy.

VioletHornswaggle · 06/06/2017 11:10

I don't hate green energy in fact, the last 3 constituencies I have lived in were Tory and awash with windmills and solar farms. I am against nuclear power and fracking. It's a demonstration that one party does nit meet all my voter needs. I only have 4 to choose from in my current constituency and all have some policies I am for and against.

BeesOnTheWing · 06/06/2017 11:14

OP Labour government s have done the same.

It's jobs and balance of payments. ( B of P was a big thing when I was young but doesn't get a mention nowadays on the news..)

Maxandrubyrubyandmax · 06/06/2017 11:39

Probably for the same reason labour did!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 06/06/2017 11:51

Lets ask the Conservatives why all governments sell weapons to Saudi Arabia Hmm no agenda there then!

These threads are getting boring now. Not meaning to be goady but...

OP for info the UK has been one of the largest arms exporters for decades along with the US and France. We are selling weapons to a lot of people. Anyone old enough to remember the Falklands War will remember the disquiet when British Warships were bombed using missiles the French had sold the Argentinian Military Junta.

MayhemAndRudderless · 06/06/2017 11:56

To ask conservatives... how do they sleep at night?

Justanotherlurker · 06/06/2017 12:12

Ask sweden why they do it?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 06/06/2017 12:17

Mayhem
Have you recently name changed just for the election or did you join just to post random political articles on threads. This thread is about arms sales so why do you think that article is relevant. If you want to discuss that topic start your own thread and perhaps give your own view not just links to articles that we can all find and read without your help.
You are coming over as party hack rather than someone who actually wants a political debate.

TSSDNCOP · 06/06/2017 13:06

NBGB should be considered by MN as a new topic, then we can just hide it.

MayhemAndRudderless · 06/06/2017 13:09

Corbyn voted against Thatcher's government supplying money and weapons Saddam Hussein in the 1980s.

He voted against all the Middle East meddling and wars for OIL.

He also voted against the Iraq war 2003. He also apologised for Labour's involvement in that illegal war for oil. He also voted for the Chillcot Inquiry; for Blair to be put on trial.

Let's not forget it was our trade partners, the Saudis, who bombed the US on 9/11. Why are Britain supplying extremists Saudi Arabia with arms, with British made bombs?

Why are the Conservative government doing all they can to suppress a report into Britain's role in funding terrorism? The public deserve answers!

Morphene · 06/06/2017 13:19

I bet the actual people making money selling arms are almost exclusively tory voters though.

So it DOES make sense to ask tory voters the justification for what their fellow tory voters are up to....

OliviaPopeRules · 06/06/2017 13:28

Morphene seriously grow the fuck up. Based solely on your opinion you have decided the 300,000+ people who work in the arms industry in the U.K. ( not to mention all the jobs it supports) are Tory voters.

Maybe you and Mayhem could answer my question above. What is in the labour manifesto about stopping arms sale to Saudi or anywhere else?

Very easy for JC to vote down everything when he has no responsibility for running the country and and balancing the economy?

WhereDoesThisRoadGo · 06/06/2017 16:56

No problem, OP. Glad to help. I guess an ally is the best of a bad bunch more often than it is a good guy. In the international order, you could say the same about the UK.

On another note, I see the thread has remained an opportunity for some to argue moot political BS. Odd behaviour!

BertrandRussell · 06/06/2017 16:58
