to think Theresa May or Boris Johnson should stand up for UK elected politicians when Trump deliberately misinterprets Sadiq Khan

Trump won't let it go.

First of all he deliberately misinterprets Khan's statement

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!"

Then says this:

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his "no reason to be alarmed" statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!

No, Trump. You are spreading fake news. Will our Prime Minister or our Foreign Secretary stand up for the London Mayor

They would if he was a Tory.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/06/2017 16:02

But there is reason to be alarmed. Whilst there's a risk there's a reason. It's hardly a one off attack.

BunsBumpBlur · 05/06/2017 16:03

I agree that TM and /or BJ should issue a statement of support for SK. Have they not done this?

SailAwayWithMeHoney · 05/06/2017 16:03

You would think so. But I don't think it'd make any difference even if they did speak up on his behalf. Trump is an idiot. You can't reason with stupid. Someone needs to take his damn phone away.

Leanback · 05/06/2017 16:03

Through it's a misquote he was saying don't be alarmed at increased police numbers

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/06/2017 16:04

Oh sorry then, understood.

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 16:08

Maybe she made a phone call to express her disappointment.

Just like she did with the Paris Accords

But he's in a different party... it's for JC to stand up for him if necessary

Boulshired · 05/06/2017 16:10

Theresa may was on tv this morning praising Sadiq and how they were working together and how he was doing a good job as London Mayor.

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 16:10

He is the Mayor of our capital city which has just been subject to a terrorist attack.

Sadiq Khan can stand up for himself. Almost no-one in this country has any respect for Trump now.

DJBaggySmalls · 05/06/2017 16:11

No, Trump is a head of state, its up to our head of state to challenge his lies.

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 16:11

heresa may was on tv this morning praising Sadiq and how they were working together and how he was doing a good job as London Mayor

That was before Trump's second tweet today

Yes I am aware of who he is.

I'm sure he doesn't need people jumping in to protect him from mean stuff said by Trump which was based on a misinterpretation of what Sadiq Khan said.

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 16:12

ts up to our head of state to challenge his lies

Phillip or the Queen?
Maybe Charles?

I would like Trump to continue to send these strange delusional tweets - right up to the point when he receives a diagnosis of dementia - which is what I believe he has now developed

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 16:13

I'm sure he doesn't need people jumping in to protect him from mean stuff said by Trump which was based on a misinterpretation of what Sadiq Khan said

This is the President of the United States, supposedly our closest ally, having a go at the elected Mayor of our capital city after another terrorist attack.

BunsBumpBlur · 05/06/2017 16:14

Hmmm I agree with what DJ says but perhaps Kahn doesn't want TM to "stand up for him" as it might be seen that Kahn can't fight his own battles.

Boulshired · 05/06/2017 16:15

She campaigning in Scotland not sure she is monitoring twitter for Trumps next absurd tweet it would be a full time job.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 05/06/2017 16:15

Trump spouts shite all the time - if you pick up on every piece of vitriol he spouts you will be there for a long time.

I'm guessing TM et al on all sides are busy dealing with the aftermath of the terrorist attacks and trying to win an election

Floisme · 05/06/2017 16:16

She'd rather antagonise Khan than Trump because she's got to find someone who'll do business with us after Hard Brexit.

As for Trump, he's not as stupid as we'd like to think. He knows a lot of people will only see his tweet and won't bother checking out the context. Job done. Again.

LurkingHusband · 05/06/2017 16:19

Theresa May is so far up Trumps arse, she can peek out from behind his teeth. She makes the Blair-Bush bromance look like the Gallaghers ...

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 05/06/2017 16:24

UK has always been up the USA's arse. Remember that nice Tony Blair? Smile

Guepe · 05/06/2017 16:24

I'd love to see her rebuke Trump, but doubt she has the strength of character.

MrsTerryPratchett · 05/06/2017 16:26

I liked the 'he's a bit busy' response from his team. Treat the orange-faced fucknugget with the respect he deserves. A sigh and an eyeroll is more than it warrants.
