to think Theresa May or Boris Johnson should stand up for UK elected politicians when Trump deliberately misinterprets Sadiq Khan

Trump won't let it go.

First of all he deliberately misinterprets Khan's statement

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!"

Then says this:

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his "no reason to be alarmed" statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!

No, Trump. You are spreading fake news. Will our Prime Minister or our Foreign Secretary stand up for the London Mayor

Is it really the priority at this moment in time? It will just distract people from proper conversations about policies before the election. Even Sadiq himself choose not to engage.

P1nkP0ppy · 05/06/2017 16:33

Twerp Trump continues to show what an ignorant oaf he is. Hopefully sooner rather than later the USA will recognise what a ridiculous liability of a President they've elected and do something about it.

WalkingOnLeg0 · 05/06/2017 16:34

I don't want our prime minister responding to Trumps tweets, what a ridiculous idea. Trump is a dick everyone can see he is a dick we dont validate his tweets by debating them. What will annoy trump the most is to be ignored.

LurkingHusband · 05/06/2017 16:37

UK has always been up the USA's arse.

Harold Wilson repeatedly told LBJ "No" when the UK was "invited" to take part in Vietnam.

(I wish I could dig out the exact quote, but apparently Wilson gave his cabinet clear instructions that the UK was to extend all possible support to the US. When an aide requested clarification, Wilson said "Everything except actual help ...")

Also Mrs Thatcher told Reagan where to shove it when he suggested the UK should forget the Falklands ...

Don't you want our Prime Minister responding to comments by the President of the United States which seek to undermine our elected officials?

It's been done in the past. A word with the Ambassador.

Except the US Ambassador has sought to distance himself from the President's words.

Do you not think everyone is a tad busy to deal with a petulant cunt right now?

NotYoda · 05/06/2017 16:46

Orlantina
I think we are all agree that POTUS is a sad embarrassment. And it's great that the Ambassador has sought to distance himself. Best ignore this tweet which is a pimple on the face of all that's wrong with him/it

TheLambShankRedemption · 05/06/2017 16:50

I think UK politicians are all currently a bit busy to be bothered with this nonsense, don't you think? YABU

StereophonicallyChallenged · 05/06/2017 16:50

LiviaDrusilla Now I wouldn't normally make corrections to what others have posted but

Do you not think everyone is a tad busy to deal with a petulant thundercunt right now?

I think you missed a word Grin Grin

WalkingOnLeg0 · 05/06/2017 16:54

No I dont think the comments undermine our elected officials because everyone know Trump is a dick. Raising them will actually make it seem the comments are undermining us. Why give trump the satisfaction of knowing he has that power.

Jupitar · 05/06/2017 16:57

Ignoring him is best, seeing as we can't put him on the naughty step Grin surely the tweet is an effort to make everything about him anyway, he obviously hates not being the centre of attention for 1 day

Nikephorus · 05/06/2017 17:02

May has stood up for Khan actually Hmm

Orlantina · 05/06/2017 17:08

May has stood up for Khan actually

That was before the 2nd tweet. It's a shame that Trump didn't seem to take any notice of what Theresa May said then. That says a lot about our special relationship with the USA.

Where's Hugh Grant when you need him?

Stereo good point well made Grin

angelcakerocks · 05/06/2017 17:28

Oh FFS yet another tory bashing thread! YAWN
I'm sure Sadiq Khan can stand up for himself. Nobody takes much notice of Trumps twitter rantings anyway.

MiddleEnglandLives · 05/06/2017 17:42

Glad to see this thread, hope Mr Khan does too! I'm not a Londoner but the man was democratically elected (remember that phrase Trump?) and has a bloody good reputation. How dare this orange twit start slagging off one of ours? Fairly typical of the US/ UK 'special relationship', and yes our senior heads need to start having a few strong words over the pond. First all the leaks over Manchester, and then this shit. Someone over there needs to wake up the adults and rein the twit in.

Thank god (whatever god) I am not American, that man is an embarassment.
