Listening to TM outside Downing Street vs JC - I think she may have just won the election - saying what people wnat to hear and hopefully some of what she says needs to be done will be followed through with.

Disgraceful trying to score political points and no I will not vote for her and her abysmal party

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 04/06/2017 12:22

Homebythesea it's not just the police presence on the street that the cuts effected.

The fact is, this is a big issue and there are several reasons why it's happening - Wahabism, disenfranchisement, lack of integration. We need to tackle those underlying causes .

Theresa has had an agenda regarding the internet since she was Home Secretary, she now has a perfect excuse to push for tighter control and everyone will think it's a good idea because we think it will protect us against the bad guys but it won't just be used against the bad guys, it will be used against all of us.

homebythesea · 04/06/2017 12:22

If JC was the PM and withdrew the shoot to kill order then those police officers approaching the incident incredibly bravely would not be able to minimise danger to the public which is their job.

I'm no apologist for TM or the conservatives but I see no suggestion here or on other similar threads of what the alternative should be. Just constant abuse and vilification of people who have the temerity to suggest that she might (just might) be the best of a bad bunch. And particularly no suggestion of what JC should or would do in a similar situation that would have tangible impact on the threat we now face.

I was abstaining but now I will vote for her, so I think it will influence a lot of people that way, not that they will visit this thread because they just get lectured and frothed at by thought police.

pilates · 04/06/2017 12:23

Let's hope so op

ExConstance · 04/06/2017 12:23

She is just milking the situation for publicity, the only thing she cares about is the rich getting richer, her idiotic posturing over Europe is embarrassing. after voting conservative for 43 years I will be voting Labour on Thursday for the first time ever.

Foureyesarebetterthantwo · 04/06/2017 12:23

Unless you can put an armed police officer on every street corner you can't prevent the initial deaths from occurring no, but the 8 minutes they were shot in was impressive. As I say, having spoken with many police officers outside London, they are very worried about their lack of armed units/response times, where a team would not be available and have dealt with the incident in anything like 8 minutes. I kind of wonder why the terrorists keep going to the most heavily policed areas and not the smaller outlying towns/cities- I guess the shock and the 'that could have been me' and the fact they are ramming pedestrians/killing police officers right along from Parliament and MI5 has more publicity value (given they know they will die anyway).

homebythesea · 04/06/2017 12:24

captain marvel I don't give 2 shits about who watches me or anyone else on the internet or anywhere else for that matter. I care about being safe and the government having the tools they need to catch those "bad guys"

Giddyaunt18 · 04/06/2017 12:25

She said the right things but she has said them before. She has had many years as Home Secretary. Not convinced.

VivienneWestwoodsKnickers · 04/06/2017 12:25

Ex-police officer here. I left 2.5yrs ago after 10yrs service. I was present at the Fed Conference in 2014 when she literally shook with anger and seemed to be venomously spitting at the audience that the Police were crying wolf. Apparently every officer was to blame for the sins of our forefathers. The cuts were a figment of our imaginations - she had not cut our budgets, we were just shit at managing the numbers.

And can I just say Peter Kirkham is on Sky now and is saying every single thing the serving and retired officers on here are saying, and I wish he had the opportunity to say it to TMs face.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 04/06/2017 12:25

Where has Jeremy Corbyn suggested he wants to remove the shoot-to-kill order for terrorists who appear to be wearing explosive vests?

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 04/06/2017 12:26

She was always going to win just not with the majority she first expected

With these horrendous terrorist attacks it keeps in mind our history of being attacked by terrorists and the importance of our security services - that isn't good for Corbyn as that IRA issue was always going to come up but terrorism and security services are forefront of people's minds and he will be questioned even more (rightly so)

Giddyaunt18 · 04/06/2017 12:26

If JC was the PM and withdrew the shoot to kill order then those police officers approaching the incident incredibly bravely would not be able to minimise danger to the public which is their job

When did he say he would do that?

DJBaggySmalls · 04/06/2017 12:26

The Tories are in the pockets of the Saudis.

antimatter · 04/06/2017 12:27

if any one judged her by her actions they won't give her their votes

she had opportunity to sort things out during the last 7 years, what else can she do?

probably more of the same: selling arms to the highest bidder and taking funding away fro police, NHS and schools

sie indeed is a Liar, Liar Angry Angry Angry

BeyondStrongAndStable · 04/06/2017 12:27

I'm quite sure it isn't in the labour manifesto, but maybe I missed it?

Smellbellina · 04/06/2017 12:27

This all started building when labour (Blair) started messing around in Iraq and the Middle East
Don't be daft it started long before then

CivQueen · 04/06/2017 12:28

Gosh yes I cant wait to buy ivory and see an end to those pesky elephants

May needs all of the elephants dead.

She's hoping it'll wipe out that huge fucker stood in the corner of the room.

The one holding that 'sensitive report' in to foreign funding of extremism.

Shhhhh.

She doesn't want people to notice the Saudi funding of mosques and schools in this country that promote extremism.

The ones teaching children and young men that we are not equal, we are beneath them and deserve to be butchered.

Because she thinks money is more important than some plebs being murdered. Plenty more where that came from, right?

(Damn right I used the picture again. It can't be used enough today when May is trying to blame everyone else but herself for 'too much tolerance of extremism')

To think Teresa May has just won the election?
gunting · 04/06/2017 12:28

All of this policing of the internet bollocks is stupid. Where is the suggestion that the Manchester bomber or the Westminster attacker were radicalised online? Neither of them had an online presence.

Birdsgottaf1y · 04/06/2017 12:29

""The cuts were a figment of our imaginations - she had not cut our budgets, we were just shit at managing the numbers.""

Well, you know, just like she has told the Nurses, "there isn't a magic money tree", or to translate, "go fuck yourselves" and take what's left of Society with you.

She's great at saying what people want to hear... And after nearly seven years of her as Home Secretary and PM things are going just great!

If JC was the PM and withdrew the shoot to kill order then those police officers approaching the incident incredibly bravely would not be able to minimise danger to the public which is their job

Jeremy Corbyn says he'd be reluctant to wipe out millions with Trident unless he had to and that makes him a weakling pacifist apparently...

Oh fuck. We are going to get the government we deserve aren't we? Yet again...

BeyondStrongAndStable · 04/06/2017 12:30

They never forget either, civ...

DJBaggySmalls · 04/06/2017 12:31

Its like people have forgotten the existence of the radical manual 'how to undermine the West from within'.
Its still out there being taught and its core tenet is Divide and Conquer.

FannyWisdom · 04/06/2017 12:31

He didn't afaik Giddy

Terrorists are killing us, the bloke who won a Global peace award and has done actual successful peace negotiation with actual lives saved is still discounted as being soft.

While the wahabist people that want to murder and grow more murderers are allowed to build more Mosques to book their hate teachers in. Because money is king and we are expendable.
