Listening to TM outside Downing Street vs JC - I think she may have just won the election - saying what people wnat to hear and hopefully some of what she says needs to be done will be followed through with.

Note she is referring to ensuring the police and security services have all the powers they need, nor resources.

Yes. The irony is fucking painful.

CitrusSun · 04/06/2017 11:30

You said it right, 'saying what people want to hear',that's all it is, lip service, look behind the scenes at the woman's actions

Cocklodger · 04/06/2017 11:30

Yes I think its got a lot to do with terrorism. Fuck all do to with the current GE Confused

Jupitar · 04/06/2017 11:30

They've had 7 years to sort this shit out, 20,000 police officers jobs have gone in the past 2 years, and they're planning on cutting more.

expatinscotland · 04/06/2017 11:30

If you believe that, you'll believe anything.

BeesOnTheWing · 04/06/2017 11:31

Yabu.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 04/06/2017 11:31

"We have been too tolerant of extremism in this country"

I agree, Teresa.

To think Teresa May has just won the election?
HardcoreLadyType · 04/06/2017 11:32

She's just full of this shit.

Increasing police powers, without enabling them (i.e. With funding) to actually use the powers is just show.

She has done the same with saying she will increase workers rights. It's no good having rights, if you can't afford the minimum of £1000 to go to a tribunal to enforce them.

Seriously. Why do people believe this shit?

sexymuthafunker · 04/06/2017 11:33

(Sorry posted too early didn't mean to address you twice!)

abilockhart · 04/06/2017 11:34

What a distasteful OP.

RainbowPastel · 04/06/2017 11:34

Err I don't think so. I would NEVER vote conservative even if my life depended on it.

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 04/06/2017 11:36

We must remember though that there is no 'Magic Money Tree' to fund all these things that are needed to identify and stamp out out extremism.

We can't afford to fund the NHS or Education, why would there be a magic money tree for anything else?

We're skint remember? Something about a leaky roof.

BeesOnTheWing · 04/06/2017 11:36

Bejazzled I would say I am a small c conservative. Still don't rate May.

Vango · 04/06/2017 11:36

saying what people wnat to hear

She's been Home Secretary, she is the PM. She's had the power for long enough. What's she going to do from 9 June that she hasn't already been in a position to do for long enough?

Whatslovegottodo · 04/06/2017 11:36

Absolutely not.

I think people are aware of her actions and the drastic cuts to our amazing public services especially our police and NHS.

Actions speak louder than words.

We desperately need a change, things are not working as it is.

Sad
ssd · 04/06/2017 11:36

TM has been dealing with the Saudi's, as pictured above

can I ask her supporters, do you know exactly what this means?

Medeci · 04/06/2017 11:37

Yanbu. Was thinking this as I listened to her statement.
But of course labour supporters, and most of mumsnet, won't agree with you.

CitrusSun · 04/06/2017 11:38

How are people taken in by her? She's just reading a script, are ppl that easily led? Look at her actions FFS

Fontella · 04/06/2017 11:39

I agree and also started a thread about her statement. It won't wash on mumsnet though. I've been pretty disillusioned on here in the past couple of weeks, there is absolutely no tolerance of any conservative (small c) views.

Absolutely agree with this - word for word!

Well said!

SleepingTiger · 04/06/2017 11:39

Er.....TM's speech was about national security and a hint on further actions. The GE should not be decided on that subject alone, but a range of policies; economy, education, health service, etc

FuckingDingDong · 04/06/2017 11:39

I don't know any public sector workers who would vote for her.
The only people who can vote for her are those who live within her constituency.

HateSummer · 04/06/2017 11:40

When is she pressing the red button then?!

BarbarianMum · 04/06/2017 11:40

Well I for one am totally reassured that the policemen left out there will have the power to act against terrorists. I'm thinking some kind of super power maybe?

Wingles10 · 04/06/2017 11:41

Definitely not.

We have a poll displayed at my place of work and it still stands at 260 for JC and 0 for TM.

Her empty platitudes are all too transparent.

RockyBird · 04/06/2017 11:41

Cutting police resources to breaking point. This is why last week military back up was required (not in Scotland) as there simply wasn't the manpower available.

The cost cutting policies are evil. Evil.

Blame is 100% at the murdering terrorists of course but the government should not be slashing the services the country needs.
