Listening to TM outside Downing Street vs JC - I think she may have just won the election - saying what people wnat to hear and hopefully some of what she says needs to be done will be followed through with.

@tookawhile the police service has been systematically decimated. It's on it's knees just like the NHS

I speak from past (mine) & present (DH's) experience. Sad

user1471545174 · 04/06/2017 13:27

BillSykesDog making a lot of sense as always.

CivQueen · 04/06/2017 13:29

WalkingOnLeg0 that is some extremely selective 'quoting'.

Read up. Corbyn was going to be misrepresented.

If you read what he actually said, the entirety of it, it makes complete sense.

Almondbrew · 04/06/2017 13:29

"witnessed Labour campaigning despite what Corbyn said.
What utterly despicable shameless wankers they are."

Naze National campaigning has been halted bot Local campaigning. I don't know why that makes them "shameless wankers" Hmm. But you have just disproved the myth that lefty types are the ones to swear and shout insults. Clearly the rest of the political spectrum isn't holding back with foul language.

Frazzled2207 · 04/06/2017 13:30

It's one thing reading a speech that someone else wrote. Her unprepared answers to questions are something else entirely. As are her actions as HS and then PM. Not blaming her for what happened but am pretty sure that cuts to police and other public service budgets will have contributed to what has happened.

TipTopCat · 04/06/2017 13:30

You have to actually start thinking why when Labour had a surplus and the the economy started tanking worldwide brcause years leading up to 2008 there were warnings liek growth slowing etc. so why did we go on such a huge spending spree...we could of been in a stronger position had we stayed with a surplus when the recession hit.

Labour left the country fucked.

If you don't recall this, you were either not paying attention or are living in a world where you have no sense of reality.

There had to be cuts across the board when the Tories took over. The country was bankrupt. Why do people STILL not get this?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 04/06/2017 13:31

walking

Was that the bbc interview?

They got pulled up on that the BBC breached accuracy and impartiality rules with a News At Six report by Laura Kuenssberg on Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn’s policy on shoot-to-kill, its governing body has said.

CheeseandGherkins · 04/06/2017 13:31

Perceptions are funny things. I watched and thought precisely the opposite.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 04/06/2017 13:31

Research shows that religion does not cause radicalisation. (in fact those that are radicalised worship less than ordinary people) Being poor, inequality, lack of equality and dissatisfaction with your lot in life provides the catalyst for radicalisation. Those who lead terrorist groups prey on the vulnerable. We need to look at our society and how we achieve a more equal country might be the answer.
Not more conservative decisiveness.

Theworldisfullofidiots · 04/06/2017 13:32

*Devisiveness not decisiveness

Almondbrew · 04/06/2017 13:32

"Labour left the country fucked."

And The Conservatives continue with the fakery. Brexit. I agree that Blair as a shit but Corbyn is the opposite of what Blair stood for.

DesdemonasHandkerchief · 04/06/2017 13:33

If she wants to seal the deal she should now reverse cuts to police funding and announce a concerted campaign to increase policing numbers and train more officers in fire arm use whilst simultaneously putting in place measures to protect them from prosecution if they then, with reasonable cause, need to firm their arms in the line of duty. Empty rhetoric about 'enough is enough' is not ...enough!

waitingforlifetostart · 04/06/2017 13:34

If people are daft enough to believe her diatribe then yes she's won. Several large scale terrorist attacks have happened in a very short time on her 'watch'. They would have happened with anyone in charge and will continue to happen whoever leads the country. When someone is willing to die for a belief they are reckless and unstoppable. Sadly terrorism is now a part of modern life. Sickening but no politician can stop it.

Spectre8 · 04/06/2017 13:35

TipTopCat I don't know why people don't get it which is why I always post back when people wronlgy say the Tories increased debt. Every single person who voted last time where we ended up with a coalition government (eas to keep blaming Tories but Lib Dems were part of it too) were told there were hard choices to be made. There are still hard choices to make, noone like to cut back and its always going to hard to decided where to make those cuts. People also don't understand that sometimes money has already been tied up so there is little new Governments can do to stop paying for those things. Its no so simple as saying just stop doing x, a cost/benefit analysis will be done and the contractual legalities looked into, sometimes walking away costs more than it is to just carry on.

gillybeanz · 04/06/2017 13:35

No, I wasn't suggesting that terrorists shouldn't be shot.

I was saying that in using "suspect" TM was showing her colours.
I also think that this gives the wrong message.
Yes, the terrorists were taken down and should have been, but what about the poor innocent man shot in the head.
Do we have to get used to innocents being shot in the name of dealing with terrorists.
Shoot them, yes, but ffs don't let innocents get caught up in it.
We have had incidents of innocents being shot and killed on suspicion, we should not be encouraging more.
So yes, the words our Politicians use, do matter immensely.

Almondbrew · 04/06/2017 13:38

"No, I wasn't suggesting that terrorists shouldn't be shot."

It looks like London police did a stellar job yesterday Thanks.

It did cross my mind though, how they could be sure within that short time span who the perpetrators were (brilliant and impressive that they did) but imagine innocent bystanders getting caught up in the fire or being mistaken for a terrorist as happened to Jean Charles de Menezes in 2005.

lubinda · 04/06/2017 13:38

JC is fantastic. Love his way of communicating with the people. They say "You judge a man by the company he keeps". Looking at the shadow cabinet, i am not filled with confidence. Labour is not united and the little that is united is backed by incompetent people.
With a heavy heart, Mrs May will have my vote.

Almondbrew · 04/06/2017 13:40

I am not impressed by Diane Abbott at all. I'd wish she would get the boot if Corbyn win. Corbyn does seem great wish he were my FiL.

gillybeanz · 04/06/2017 13:42

Almond

That was my point Thanks

Bombardier25966 · 04/06/2017 13:42

The last Labour government made some poor choices, they also had to work against a world economic crisis (I assume you're not going to blame them for that too?).

The country was not bankrupt. The country certainly didn't have £1.7 trillion of national debt. Why do Tories not like talking about that?

As for cuts across the board, please tell us about how the Conservatives budgetary decisions impacted on the top 5%?

homebythesea · 04/06/2017 13:42

gillybeanz where is the report of someone (else) being shot - I've had the news on all morning and have not seen or heard anything about any of the injuries sustained by victims. Not saying it didn't happen, just want to know the source. It's sadly inevitable that people will get caught up in the crossfire sometimes. Doesn't mean there shouldn't be that confrontation where it is warranted I'm afraid. If those men were not take down as they were they would have continued to slash and stab as many as possible before the police could get a "clean shot".

And I still don't get the link between use of the word "suspect" and TM's "true colours"

CoolCarrie · 04/06/2017 13:43

She has not won anything, all talk no substance again. Don't forget she and her party have cut the police numbers, under paid nurses, & doctors but because it suits her agenda now, in these horrible situations, she praises both, all talk , no substance, what a joke she needs to put OUR money in the places that it is needs, not in her fucking cronies pockets! Frankly JC isn't much better.

gillybeanz · 04/06/2017 13:45

Sorry home
I read it on here, will try and find it.
If it isn't true, apologies for misunderstanding.

However, innocents have been shot on suspicion of being a terrorist and even one is one too many.
We can't have Politicians especially our PM encouraging shooting suspects.

bigmack · 04/06/2017 13:47

'enough is enough'
So what exactly does that mean op?
It's a typical Tory soundbite with no actual substance.

mummymeister · 04/06/2017 13:47

Just continuously amazed at how people can say that Corbyn is great, fantastic etc when he is an anti semitic maverick who stood shoulder to shoulder on platform after platform with terrorists.

he wasn't interested in peace. he has never been interested in peace. he is an anarchist. he likes being on the "wrong" side. that's why he spent so long on the back benches and never held any cabinet job until elected as Labour leader. that's why he has no idea how to choose the MP's in his shadow cabinet because he doesn't actually have a clue.

I worked with him and I just don't recognise the positive descriptions I keep seeing on here. clearly the PR department at Momentum has done a great job.

I saw him speak on numerous occasions publically about his hatred of the EU and why we should be allowed to vote to come out. yet the minute we do vote out he comes out as if he always wanted to stay in and it was the greatest thing since sliced bread!

there are some people in this world who are so contrary that they always go for the opposite view and he is one of them.
