To think the Ariana concert is being held *way* too soon?

I think it's a fabulous idea to have this memorial concert. But...

Some of the dead have not even been buried yet. Those still in hospital are unable to attend. Families directly affected by the bomb will have much more to attend to right now than going to the concert.

I think it would have been a lovely idea to do in say the autumn - where people will have started to piece their lives back together a tiny bit.

Who cant win? Young people just died. I think its inappropriate.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:31

Its inappropriate right now. A song would have been appropriate.

FreeSpiritJen · 01/06/2017 22:31

Yeah I agree OP. Nice idea, but should have been at least another 3 months.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:31

Everyone downloading it could have had a chance to help.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:32

How touched would the families have been to have a song dedicated to the ones that died.

GabsAlot · 01/06/2017 22:35

i did think that initially but if it financially benefits the victims the sooner the better

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:35

...and how beautiful would it have been to have had a concert later on that played the song dedicated to the young people that died at the beginning of that concert.

SuperBeagle · 01/06/2017 22:42

Never I think you're forgetting that it's supposed to be a fundraising event to help the families. They need to financial help now, not some indefinite time months from now.

Hulababy · 01/06/2017 22:42

Right now? For many it probably wouldn't register as so soon into there grief, and too much for those in hospital dealing with injuries.
In time, maybe, But I am not sure they will be focusing too much on things like that right now.

Hulababy · 01/06/2017 22:43

Apparently the school choir from one of the schools of a young victim is singing on stage at the concert, with Ariana Grande.

HorridHenryrule · 01/06/2017 22:44

The best time is now STAND UP TO BULLIES. Its not only Ariana Grande performing there will be Justin Bieber, and Katy perry. Do it like the French take a stand.

mrsrumplestiltskin · 01/06/2017 22:47

God there are some vile, nasty, horrible people on here who should frankly be disgusted with themselves.

To pull apart what is, to most normal minded people, a huge gesture by people who can bring millions of pounds of funds in to help the families devastated by what happened. To then question the why's and if it's to benefit them???

How about they just want to give a big FUCK YOU the evil scum that commit these murders. How about they just want to bloody well show they care?! How about they want to show these scum we will NOT let terrorists win and now is exactly the right time to do it.

Some things have shocked me on here - this? Beyond repulsed. Give yourselves a bloody shake ffs.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:49

I really think its not the time to do this. Nobody knows how they would feel losing a loved one but cant imagine i would EVER want to go back.

HorridHenryrule · 01/06/2017 22:51

Sorry to use your post but why strap a bomb and blow themselves up outside a concert for kids. That says a lot to me is no one allowed to have fun and enjoy themselves. Hide away and your giving that arsehole what he wants.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:51

Nobody is saying people shouldnt stand up to bullies or that it isnt a good gesture. Its just too soon imo.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:52

..i cant imagine anyone that was at it wanting to go back while its SO fresh.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:53

The sentiments are good. My heart breaks for the families.

bakedbeansandtuna · 01/06/2017 22:57

I think as long as the victims and their families are happy for it to proceed, thats all that matters. I imagine they wouldn't proceed if anyone was unhappy.

Pancakeflipper · 01/06/2017 22:57

I think it has to be held now or in the next few weeks.
Families have been consulted.
Monies raised for families are needed now not in a year's time (when God knows what other world and national awful events have happened taking focus away from this).

There's never a time that's right. But I know how much long term hospital visiting costs financially and emotionally and I think taking away that worry of cost from families is a helpful practical way to support them at the moment.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:58

Well if the families are happy then fine. Are they all happy though?

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 22:59

What about the goverment? Why havent they stepped in. They are quick to offer money in other circumstances.

southeastdweller · 01/06/2017 23:00

Yes it's too soon and what I don't get is that almost seven million pounds had already been raised to help victim's and their families, with £1,000,000 being released immediately. So why the need for more extra money so soon? Even if it'd been delayed for a couple of months or so it'd still sell out.

I'm also a bit Hmm that several celebrities who're participating may not be donating and I think it's logical to assume that some won't be. Most celebs publicly donate.

Shockers · 01/06/2017 23:01

I think it's too soon. Perhaps if all the artists donated their usual fees and started a charity page too, lots more would be raised anyway.

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 23:03

Absolutely. And also the Government. What are they doing?

neveradullmoment99 · 01/06/2017 23:03

They offer overseas aid. Surely 'charity' begins at home.
