To buy this pram...

I love it but it's cream. Am I mad? DH thinks I am and we should get the Black and Tan version. Parents think I should have whatever I like because it's my PFB.

Give it to me straight.

We have the older black with black frame, DD is almost 1.

It's fab, we absolutely love it. Also got the sibling seat which is good as DC2 will be here in January.

Only thing we find difficult is it's so big when taken apart. I have a qashqai and it fills the boot.

mrspage1985 · 30/05/2017 20:40

I got the egg - we went with the forest green! X

stella23 · 30/05/2017 20:41

Didn't realise how expensive it was though. But I was a pram collector, and spent far to much money on them 😬

@Catdogcat so pleased that you've confirmed my thoughts. It seems that everything baby related involves a difficult decision and this is the only one I've found relatively easy (except the colour!)

@mrspage1985 I LOVE the green but do you know it's discontinued?

@stella23 I love the idea of being a pram collector but I have no idea where I'd store more than one! Might have to persuade parents and in-laws that they need their own prams for when we visit?! Maybe a touch excessive...

Our pram is light blue, but I have a white merino sheepskin liner on the seat, it doesn't look grubby at all, and dd is 8 months and regularly has snacks in the pram. Get the one you like, you could always dye it if it does start to look grubby.

FlyingElbows · 30/05/2017 20:57

You absolutely should buy it because it's your pfb and you need to graduate to the "wtf was I thinking school of motherhood experience"! If you don't buy it you'll never be able to say "why the fuck did we buy this" when you're juggling a small baby into the 7% of your car that's left once you've crammed the "seemed like a good idea at the time"-mobile in. You'll never experience the joy of shit, puke, snot etc ruining your once pride and joy. I will fight for your right to join the club, op. But seriously, get a dark one Wink

RedLemonade · 30/05/2017 21:00

Oh, get the navy and tan!

PeppaIsMyHero · 30/05/2017 21:01

You'll either need to be wealthy enough to replace it or relaxed enough to push around a stained and marked pram.

To be honest, though, we did everything off Ebay and I was determined to indulge myself with Proper stuff second time round...but we weren't able to have a second so I never got the chance! Buy the pram. x

RedLemonade · 30/05/2017 21:01

Oops, I mean- get the navy and tan!

mrspage1985 · 30/05/2017 21:02

That makes sense as we bought the green in Feb/March time and I have to get the carrycot part separately online as mothercare didn't have any and we had the last one of the pushchair.

I love the regal navy as well!
There is a new grey bought out - quantum grey I think it's called!
I do love the cream though but get your thoughts on keeping it clean! X

mrspage1985 · 30/05/2017 21:05

Looks like they still have forest green here

http://www.kiddies-kingdom.com/travel-systems/22163-egg-gun-metal-frame-2in1-tandem-pram-system-forest-green-free-fleece-seat-liner-.html?gclid=CNnUyuy0mNQCFWIq0wodWNUBA#fooc=164&fok=264c0a77a5a95d9ee6574946c944080d&foos=gplauk

I think - but can't totally remember (and booking conf is on work emails and I am off on mat leave) that this is where we ordered the carrycot part from. If it is the delivery was fab!

blue2014 · 30/05/2017 21:07

Buy it in cream, scotchguard t. All my stains are sick and look far worse on a dark colour. I wish I'd gone lighter

Longji · 30/05/2017 21:08

I love the navy 😍
I had a similar pushchair for my pfb, everyone told me I'd want a stroller after 6 months etc. I didn't, I used it for 3 years almost daily. It stayed in great condition and I sold it for £100.
I did buy a stroller for holidays though as I didn't trust the airlines!

Louiselouie0890 · 30/05/2017 21:10

Worse thing I ever did buying a blue and white stripe buggy it looked like I'd owned it for years even with all the scrubbing I did. Never again.

followTheyellowbrickRoad · 30/05/2017 21:14

I'd buy it in the colour you like. If your like me you will regret it if you don't.

coffeeneeded · 30/05/2017 21:15

I have an egg pram for my twins. I absolutely love it! It is a dream to push and it's very easy to fold up etc.

Having said that I would be worried about the cream colour.... I have a purple set and a black set- no marks so far (14 months in)

Teachervoice · 30/05/2017 21:16

@FlyingElbows haha! I'm sure I am as naive as they come. I alternate between believing that I will never be able to sleep, eat or shower again to thinking it can't be that bad! Don't seem to have a middle ground. You're type of advise is just what I need.

@RedLemonade I like this one too but I worry that it's too masculine in case it's a girl. We don't plan on finding out so I thought I'd go for a more neutral colour?

@PeppaIsMyHero I'm sorry to hear that. I'm also of the mindset that this is such an amazing gift that I really want to avoid taking the 'boring' option too much and not fully enjoying the experience.

@mrspage1985 thank you - I'm going to do some research tomorrow!

Everyone else: thanks so much for your pointers/ opinions. Much appreciated Smile

I had a cream bugaboo, it wiped clean brilliantly and was machine washable. Are the covers on the Egg detachable? My days of pram hunning are over Sad I know nothing of newer models.

I'd say....Cream if you were happy with cleaning it.

Navy and Tan if not, but you get the bag too, and an ice cream, and a foot rub, because you're being all noble about not having the cream even though you're building a baby ALL BY YOURSELF.

stella23 · 30/05/2017 21:29

You know you really should just buy the one you want, if you don't buy it you will just think about it all the time and regret it, better to regret something you did rather than something you didn't do. It's a lovely pram, and honestly it's the sort of thing g you only get to do once.

beanzmeanzheinz · 30/05/2017 21:38

My sil got this in cream and whilst it looks lovely, it's a bloody nightmare to keep clean. Go for the darker version

likeababyelephant · 30/05/2017 21:41

It's not a pretty sight (sorry my opinion). I would buy a cheap one for newborn in 1st 6 months then buy a lightweight stroller. Wish I'd done that than push around a heavy pram for a year.

madmoon · 30/05/2017 21:44

I had a white one for baby 3 it was beautiful and I kept it clean even with toddlers and sticky fingers ,
I gave it to friend of a friend and I do have to say it never looked the same . I guess it depends on your cleaning levels maybe !

RandomUsernameHere · 30/05/2017 21:51

Maybe you could get the carrycot in cream as in the picture and then get the next seat in a more practical colour. The carrycot is less likely to get ruined as you won't be using it for as long.

fairiesandelves · 30/05/2017 21:59

Recently bought the egg Black and Tan for my daughter. Grandson now 6 weeks old. Lays down flat in the carrycot fine.
She considered prosecco (cream) but went for sensible option. Glad she did as when putting pram then chassis in car boot, the chassis wheels sometimes touch the outside of the pram so prosecco would be hard to get dirt off. So easy to put pram up and down. Nice Chunky wheels. Matching changing bag, sun umbrella too. Daughters very pleased with it.
Hope this helps Smile

MuncheysMummy · 30/05/2017 22:02

Black is boring! I love that Egg pram! I was torn between that and my iCandy Peach 2016 in Butterscotch when I bought mine but went for the ICandy instead it also has tan leather handle bar and bumper bar. My Peach is now 10 months old and still spotless as I am careful with it and do look after it. I'd deffo 100% go for the Jurassic cream wish I had now if I'm honest!
