AIBU to ask the woman next to me for her gherkin?

I'm in McDonalds and the woman next to me has removed the 2 pieces of gherkin from her burger and put them on the side.

God I want them. The best bit of a McDonalds. Maybe I can distract her then grab them.

Then again, our region is shit hot on good customer service and my store is topping the ratings for that so maybe we get more leeway?

noblegiraffe · 02/06/2017 18:20

It's not like it happens often.

Or at least not until MN heard about it! Grin

I wondered how long it would be before someone mentioned Mrs Elswood! I love her sweet cucumber sandwich slices. My mouth is watering at the thought of them! The relish someone posted about is also very good.

Doublemint · 02/06/2017 18:32

*Just scream "GHERKIN SNATCH!!" and take them.

Brilliant. This is going to be in my head every time I go to mcds now. Like a mild Tourette impulse.

IHaveBrilloHair · 02/06/2017 18:41

Mrs Elswood haimisha pickles are the best, really salty.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 02/06/2017 20:27

QuestionableMouse Good for you. My store is also one of the top in our region.

noblegiraffe · 02/06/2017 20:52

OMG McDonalds turf war!

I hope the one with the free gherkins wins.

Gherkins are disgusting, horrible things and I often wondered why they put them in burgers as standard. Now I know why, there are actually people who exist who like them! Strange, people.

Nik2015 · 03/06/2017 18:38

Can I just go through the drive thru and ask for gherkins? Off out for a curry, this thread has set me gherkin craving!

Buxtonstill · 03/06/2017 18:52

You can't remove everything on those automated tills. I love sausage and egg mcmuffins but cannot eat gluten, so have to go to the counter and ask for it without the muffin. (Yes, I could take the muffin off, but you lose most of the cheese to the muffin) Mostly they look at me like an alien, even if I explain I can't eat bread. And without fail they put the cheese in the box first so it melts to the nugget box. And they still charge me the normal price.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 03/06/2017 19:46

Buxtonstill Yeah, we can remove the muffin on the actual counter tills, and it's not uncommon so I don't know why they'd look at you "like an alien" Confused

We have to still charge normal price because there's no way to discount on the tills.

PooPooOfferson · 03/06/2017 22:41

I recollect that Lidl stock mighty fine gerkins. Chill infused, I say.

QuestionableMouse · 03/06/2017 22:41

And yes you can remove things on the order points. There's a big red button saying customise that lets you take off what you want.

Tills are fixed prices. There's no way to discount anything. I promise. I've just spent the last eight hours looking at one.

Rabblemum · 04/06/2017 09:41

I used to love Macy's, I could find kids who were fussier and ruder than mine. Anywhere else I'd say no, but the great things about McDonalds are the eavesdropping and the freedom, go for it.

Loving this thread 😄😄😄. When we go to Mc D's my DS has a double cheese burger (with NO relish AT ALL), my DD has a double hamburger (NO relish or cheese).... AM gutted that I do not know you could order extra on the Fillet-o-Fish (wasted chances to dip chips in extra mayo ☹☹☹). Want a bloody Maccy D's now ...

When you say relish, what do you mean by that? Pickle?

You can order extra, but you do have to pay. We have a customer who always orders the filet with extra tartar sauce, but it is always an extra 10p.

ShelaghTurner · 04/06/2017 17:02

Am confused. So if I go to one of the touch screens to order my breakfast wrap, is there a way to remove any sauce? It just gives the option of brown or red. I don't care how much I do or don't have to pay for the privilege, I just want the sauce gone Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 17:14

ShelaghTurner You can customise your order. Select the wrap, then when it's gone through click on that particular meal at the bottom, and then you should have the option to customise.

You don't pay extra to remove, but it won't discount you either.

musketeers123 · 04/06/2017 17:25

Ok. I don't eat meat but love fish. (No frigging 'veggie queries' please. Both my DS & DD LOVE meat. They are just a tad fussy on relish. One loves the burger with lots of cheese. One loves the burger with relish but NO cheese. We are all happy with this. No worries x

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 17:29

musketeers123 You still haven't answered my question! What do you mean by relish? As in, what is it you don't want? Sauce? Pickle?

ShelaghTurner · 04/06/2017 18:11

Thanks WhatToDo. I may try it out tomorrow... Wink

mygorgeousmilo · 04/06/2017 18:22

This has brought back a joyous memory. I always just straight up ask for extra gherkins and sauce if the madness takes me and I go into McDonald's. Years ago I was in some Pacific island or another, maybe even Tahiti, and I got my usual: 2 cheeseburgers with extra gherkins and sauce. Then it happened.... they gave me..... a giant paper drinks cup FILLED with a mix of sauce, gherkins and onions!! I ate loads with my burgers, but there was so much of the wonderful mixture left that I pretty much walked around for the rest of the day snacking on them. Those were the days I tell you! Ahhh still thinking about it 15 years later Grin

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 04/06/2017 18:28

ShelaghTurner Good luck!

musketeers123 · 04/06/2017 18:35

What to do....

Surely not that odd (or important) my son does not like relish - guerkin/salad on his hot burger). He hates warm salad on hot meat - not a big deal . I do NOT make a big deal of this .....so he does not either. We don't make a big deal of this as not that exciting - just what he likes ...
