Have you changed your mind about him?

At least he's never milked his expenses. The year they all got caught out for house-flipping, moat cleaning and duck houses, he only claimed a few quid for a printer cartridge.

Tbf as a London based MP his expenses should be very small.

Something many other London MPs failed to understand.

And he did not declare his pension income on his tax form! How anyone can forget that is beyond me - you click through page by page and it says have you received a pension income in this year and he must have ticked no or left it blank! I would never do that ever.

I don't think he's dishonest but why publish tax returns when you haven't checked they leave out vital stuff and make you look so?

Piglet I think I could see the point Paxman was trying to make. I think it was that the 'principled man always stands by his views' line but doesn't*
Agree. I just hadn't spent much time considering how I feel about a "man of principle" being willing to sacrifice some of those in the name of compromise, nor how he feels about that.

I'd be intrigued to know what morals are a red line for JC. Trident obviously isn't (unless he has a long game in mind, a tactic I honestly believe he is willing to play). I guess we could all come up with theoretical moral red lines.

May be I'll get on the webchat thread and ask Smile

I read in the Times this morning that Corbyn is willing to open talks with the SNP about another Indyref, if he is elected. The last one was so hurtful and divisive (and was supposed to be the only one for a bloody generation), so this has given me serious concerns about my intentions to vote Labour. I thought they were supposed to be pro-Union??

Well that webchat was an absolute disgrace. Arrived late left very early and answered virtually no questions and certainly nothing that wasn't 'fluffy'

Would anyone call a male politician 'difficult'?

Yeah he is a nice guy. But I doubt I will vote for him. Neither him or the ghastly Diane Abbott knows what they're on about with their figures. It makes for cringeworthy viewing to see them getting tied up in knots. And people want these 2 running our country?!

Report

No, people apparently want May, Bojo, Fox, Hunt and Fallon running our country! I'd rather have Keir Starmer negotiating Brexit personally.

Come on jezza stop posting.

No not changed although he comes across better than May. He's a lot better than I thought he would be to be honest but unfortunately he has a very weak team.

None sensible can see Abbott as home sec. defies belief.

I am worried about his links with Terrorist, not just the IRA, but he laid a wreath at the grave of the mastermind of the Munich Massacre where terrorists murdered Israeli civilians.

I am all for opening talks with terrorists, but Corbyn goes beyond that, and appears to me at least to be actively supporting them (hence inviting Sinn Fein into parliament 4 days after the Brighton bomb and calling Hamas (who have murdered a lot of people) his friends.

Apart from that he does come across as disorganised, not something you really want in a PM.

BakewellSliceAgain · 30/05/2017 14:21

^^Yes about the wreath.

I do not think that he's what I would class as a nice man at all.

He clarified the 'friends' comments about Hamas in the JP interview. Twice. It was 'inclusive language' to facilitate negotiations.

That's all cleared up nicely then.

What's his plan on the Scottish Neverendum?

Maybe watch the Leader's debate tonight?

Without the current prime minster who called this election of course.

Definitely the more strong and stable. Tory positions crumble under examination.

I thought he came across as warm, confident and likeable, but it should be remembered that this is Corbyn in campaign mode - that's what he lives for, particularly when he has something to kick against (party establishment, an incumbent government). Corbyn in day-to-day management mode seems to be something very different.

I will not waste my time watching, it won't provide an answer. As explained upthread he, Corbyn, wanders off the policy line (presumably agreed with colleagues) and confusion is the result.

He can clarify as much as he likes. Doesn't mean to say people have to believe him. There was absolutely no need to use the word 'friends'

Nope not convinced they can manage the economy and with both Corbyn and Abbott being vague on costings it's to big a gamble

I can see Robertson tying him up in knots over inyref to be honest.

I think it's a good negotiating tactic, actually.

May could learn a thing or two about winning people over.

But the Tory manifesto is not costed. Plus May and others have slipped up just as often in interviews, but for some reason Hmm it's not reported as headline news.
