The NDNs have been partying for 12 hours now

They started at 2pm and still going strong now at 2am (I'm in France). They are outside, with music blaring, screams, etc. They don't often make much noise but 2-3 times a year they have these ridiculously long parties. 12 hours and no end in sight!

I thought the etiquette was to invite the NDN to the party so they can't get mad?

I think it is the NDN's DCs who are in their early twenties, we are in our mid-forties and have young DCs so I wouldn't expect an invite. I think there was a sporting event of some kind because there was cheering and chanting all day long along with the music.

I could do with some sleep now. It was 30 degrees here today and still hot but there is no chance of opening the windows. Even with the windows closed I can hear the bass and chanting.

Retaliate with loud music at 6am

Parties in my house sometimes go on for 3 or 4 days we would turn it down a bit if asked because we genuinely wouldn't realise if it was too loud or whatever.

YABU. 3-4 times a year is hardly often. Different if it was every week but come on, let people have a party.

2-3 times* even less often! I think you can deal with a bit of noise once every 4-6 months

Where do people get the energy for a twelve hour-long party?

They stopped at 5am, I had to be up at 7am and I am finding it difficult to deal with! I have never had a 15 hour party before in my life. When I got married we went to a specialist venue in the middle of nowhere and that's the only reason we kept going till 4am.

They are not the only ones either. Every village has a village party that lasts a few days. You can hear the ones that are near us all night long because of a weird habit of blasting very loud music outdoors. And by hear I mean being able to identify the songs and understand what the DJ says...for 3-4 nights.

Now is your chance to put loud music on yourself while they are trying to sleep.........

I'd send the kids around to say hello.. or borrow an egg and whilst 12 hours is massively overboard the top I'd probably forgive as it's not a regular occurrence.

Haven't you got lots of hoovering that needs doing OP, one of you could crack on with that whilst the other gets the lawn mown, or perhaps a spot of DIY? Make sure the kids don't get bored cooped up inside send them out in the garden to let off some steam.....of course they'll want to have their music on as well.....

DS has a fever and the other neighbour's dog was loose this morning and had a tiff with mine (mine were on lead, we were trying to get past), so I just give up.
