To feel uncomfortable when

MIL drapes her legs over DH's when watching TV? Whenever we visit, DH will stretch out his legs over a pouf (sp?) and she will stretch out hers over his. I feel like I'm watching a cat spraying over its territory.. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..

I would feel uncomfortable.

TrinityRhino · 16/03/2007 21:44

so would I

expatinscotland · 16/03/2007 21:44

Yeah.

That's warped.

WideWebWitch · 16/03/2007 21:44

ewwww

hunkermunker · 16/03/2007 21:44

Oh, yuck at your comparison!

How does your DH feel about it?

I really hope my sons' partners don't mind if I show affection to them when they're older!

MascaraOHara · 16/03/2007 21:44

I wouldn't like that at all.

hunkermunker · 16/03/2007 21:44

WTF?! Why is it warped?!

hunkermunker · 16/03/2007 21:45

God, you're all weird!

shimmy21 · 16/03/2007 21:45

aww -she's his mum. Wouldn't you like to be able to schmuggle up to your dcs when they are big?

must admit find it a bit weird though (but hate the thought of not being able to cuddle my ds if he has a dp)

expatinscotland · 16/03/2007 21:48

A cuddle, but legs over each other?

hunkermunker · 16/03/2007 21:52

Are they nude?

Is she asking him to do unspeakable sexual things to her?

Is she breastfeeding him?

No.

FFS, it's fully-clothed, non-sexual contact.

unknownrebelbang · 16/03/2007 21:53

Could never have imagined my mil doing this with DH, but I could imagine my mam doing this with my brother.

(can't say for certain as they're both dead now).

Greensleeves · 16/03/2007 21:54

I think it's one of those things which doesn't translate well into words on a screen - I can imagine one mum and son doing this and thinking "Oh, how lovely, how loving and sweet", and then I can imagine seeing another mum do it and thinking "Eeeew, something not right there!".

I don't think it's odd at all, but then my family is very tactile.

I find it odd that people find it odd.

SoupDragon · 16/03/2007 21:57

Yes, you're being unreasonable.

Spidermama · 16/03/2007 21:58

My MIL is quite touchy feely with her boys. I think it's quite nice usually but I have, at certain points particularly in the early days, had the feeling she was sending some subtle message to me. My experience tells me these hunches are rarely without foundation.

Funnily enough she used to do it when she was on her own (FIL has re-married) and since she's been with her partner she doesn't do it any more.

So Winky your intuition is probably spot on.

J20BABY · 16/03/2007 21:59

oh greensleeves pmsl at your post, thought yo'd said 'licks' hunkers ear

can't stop giggling, sorry but cheered me up!

Bubble99 · 16/03/2007 21:59

I don't understand the 'cat spraying' comparison, either.

Do you like your MIL?

franca70 · 16/03/2007 21:59

Lol at hunkermunker's questions. No, I don't think it's that odd either.

HappyDaddy · 16/03/2007 21:59

To the OP - YUCK! That's a bit sexual, isn't it? bleurgh...

staceym11 · 16/03/2007 22:01

would you be thinking it odd if your dh was female (ok that sounds odd) but i do things like that with my mum and dont find it odd, as i wouldnt if dh did!

How on earth is it sexual?? She's not rubbing herself up and down him is she? Scantily clad?

Greensleeves · 16/03/2007 22:02

Steady on there, Soupy old girl
