Since DD was born I have come to understand it will be a while before I get to experience what I used to enjoy again. So I have been trying to think of the simple pleasure to help me get through the day of endless cleaning up sick and doing chores.
I really enjoy washing my hair in a steaming hot shower, especially when someone else is holding the baby so she isn't in the bathroom with me 😅
Or hanging out the washing in the sunshine.

My garden being all in bloom and attracting bees makes me feel happy.

Strawberry ice cream with chocolate sauce, solves all problems.

My cat's purr.

Butchmanda · 25/05/2017 13:53

Without a doubt, my daily elevenses. I work from home, and it's blissfully quiet.
Tray with
Toast and homemade jam (usually raspberry)
Pot of tea for one (Yorkshire Gold)
If anyone dares to phone me I ignore it.
If I were a millionaire, I still wouldn't wish for anything else. Sometimes I replicate it at tea-time.
A little bit of pleasure every day.

doubleshotespresso · 25/05/2017 13:53

The one thing i miss most since having a child is being able to read books. There just never seems to be time ....

My precious moments these days:

-A really hot bath with candles
-Coffee (cannot function without it these days)
-Menthol Cigarettes (not great I know but a girl needs something)
-Walks in the park with DD-this really makes me switch off properly and it's great to get time with her out of the house
-Weekend drives out the three of us just anywhere...
-Being near water anywhere-very calming
-Cooking for pleasure
-All laundry and ironing being done and not staring at me from a pile
-Having time with DP in the evenings to just be (not often these days but when it does it's great)
-Time with my parents who i am very aware are suddenly getting much older... Sad

Argeles · 25/05/2017 13:59

Being with my family
A spritz of perfume
Roses
A shower all by myself with my DD being looked after by my DH
A tea or coffee made for me that I haven't had to ask for
Stroking cats and dogs

Vq1970 · 25/05/2017 14:12

Funnily enough, I was just talking about these things yesterday with a friend!

Agree with the clean bed linen after a shower and preferably alone to just enjoy the solitude. My husband is disabled so I get very little time on my own and would love to go to bed early, get into a clean bed and read or watch a film and just enjoy being on my own.

A new toothbrush. I love how firm it feels on my teeth. I buy toothbrushes in bulk off Amazon so as soon as the firmness seems to be going, I get a new one out.

Swimming in the sea on a gloriously hot day - which I hope to be doing after work today although it's a bit windy!

maggiso · 25/05/2017 14:42

Salted chocolate! Watching nests being built in the tree in our garden - now with adult birds feeding the young. Bird song in spring. Sunsets. Cup of tea in bed! ( had to wait till Dc much older than yours OP but all the years of an early waker makes me appreciate it all the more!). Feeding baby ducks! (We have a new wild family of mallards who come to knock on the back door with mummy ducks beak for their tea if we haven't already fed them!)

Having an interiors mag I can actually read in peace

Saving TV dramas up on Skybox and getting an hour when kids out/napping to watch this

The immediate first plonk on the sofa with glass of wine after putting kids to bed

My kids laughter & silliness

Friday night curry

Sitting in the sun

Dreaming about holidays to come

Kind strangers

CoughingForWeeks · 25/05/2017 15:04

That feeling of relief when the bra comes off at the end of the day - there's nothing like it

smoothieooo · 25/05/2017 15:34

Sunday mornings, when I bring a vat of tea back to bed, along with the cat (it's the only time he's allowed on my bed as the sheets get changed later in the day) and read the paper on my iPad. Bliss.

user1494409994 · 25/05/2017 15:39

clean bedding
a new toothbrush
the first strawberry, tomato, peapod, raspberry grown in the garden

PutThatPomBearBack · 25/05/2017 15:45

Sweet tea
Driving down a long stretch of road when it's sunny and quiet
Cutting open a perfectly ripe avocado
Smoking

Aroundtheworldandback · 25/05/2017 15:46

My coffee first thing in morning brought to me in winter in bed by dh, summer in the garden. Smelling gorgeous flowers while me walking the dog. Sitting in our garden unwinding with a glass of wine and a good book

Strokethefurrywall · 25/05/2017 15:48

Ahhh I have so many of these simple pleasures:

  • Stepping under a shower after a really hard workout and feeling the ache all through my body
  • Returning from a really long run by 7am and knowing I have the whole day in front of me
  • Waking up on a weekend and sitting on my patio by the pool with a mug of coffee and my toast and apricot jam
  • Driving along the road I live on in the mornings. The homes are beautiful and have incredible ponciana trees, bougainvilla bushes and frangipani trees. All in bloom first thing in the morning against a blue sky on the waterfront is magic
  • trying out a new recipe that I know is going to be epic. Usually involves a lot of steak
  • First glass of wine on a Friday evening whilst pottering about the kitchen.
  • Payday, paying all the bills and getting everything squared away
  • Opening my fridge after I've been grocery shopping
  • Finding old playlists on old ipods

There are so many more - multiple times a day I make myself go and find a simple pleasure (mostly physical senses of accomplishment to combat the fact that all my simple pleasures generally revolve around food...)

DevilsDumplings · 25/05/2017 15:57

My simple pleasures are:-

Dead heading flowers in my garden
Picking fragrant blooms to enjoy indoors
Watching my dogs playing and enjoying exploring fields & meadows
Clean fresh bedding
Clean home
Cupboards & fridge full of wholesome food
First cup of tea of the day
Being shower fresh
Unexpected visitors (nice ones Wink )
Blue skies & sunny days
Walks by the sea
Sinking into a plumped up sofa

I love life and all it brings. It's better than the alternative Smile

DevilsDumplings · 25/05/2017 15:58

I forgot the most important one ... listening to bird song!

Hogterm · 25/05/2017 16:01

I like this thread. It's the little things that make me happy. I had just been feeling a bit jealous of all the exciting things and big trips other people seem to be doing (Facebook is bad I know) but this has reminded me of the things that actually make a difference to my mood. I am now going for a walk in the sun!

buggerthebotox · 25/05/2017 16:02

Noticing the weather. For years I didn't as I was so busy at work.

Clean sheets/clean body combo.

Awful weather outside; me inside with Line of Duty for company.

Having peace and quiet to play Miles Davis.

Having a bath in the day. Still feels naughty.

Sharing some nibbles with a friend.

Sitting down in a glow of smugness in a tidy room.

Feeling all strong and calm after an exercise session.

cadging a fag.

Pasithea · 25/05/2017 16:46

Hot bath clean sheets
That salty stingy feeling after being on the beach and getting sunburn got it now.
Summer evening last walk with the dogs to check chickens and horses
Listening to the horses chewing hay when they're all tucked up in bed in winter
Any birdsong and parents feeding young.
Weakening up in the morning and drinking good coffee on the patio watching horses and chicks.

Talith · 25/05/2017 17:17

Dropping the kids off at breakfast club and sneaking back to bed for an hour before work. Not really possible with a newborn!

Good old cup of tea or a crisp sandwich. Comforting old sitcoms on Netflix. Putting a conditioning treatment on hair and a turban and leaving it overnight.

mycheeksarerosy · 25/05/2017 17:25

Shower
Gym
Online shopping
Red wine

Smile
Louiselouie0890 · 25/05/2017 17:26

My bedroom. It's my place to get away In a relaxing room with my comforts and nice smelling candles and my programmes.

Andrewofgg · 25/05/2017 17:36

Sunday morning, call in on DW's niece and take her LO, 3 in August, to the park for an hour. Niece is pg, her DW is working, so she appreciates the rest and the LO and I like each others' compnay.

ThreeForAPound · 25/05/2017 17:41

My refreshing morning shower and relaxing evening bath are two parts of my day I love an look forward to.

I'm a perfume-geek, and I love thinking about which perfume I am going to wear that day...and then the moment when I spray it on and sniff my wrist Grin.

The first coffee I have when I get in to work.

My Sunday morning lie-in. DH takes the DC to an activity on Sunday mornings, so I snooze as long as I want, or watch TV in bed with tea and enjoy lazing about.

A terrible one, but...online shopping. And arriving home to a parcel containing my goodies Grin

AyUpMiDuck · 25/05/2017 18:14

YorkshaPudding I agree with all of yours except of course sex with your DH!

I will add
Drying sheets on the line on a warm day - they smell great and need no ironing!
A cup of Nespresso with frothy milk after the gym
Getting a parcel
A bunch of roses especially from my garden
The next episode of a thriller series.
Choosing from the menu at a good restaurant
Clean house and time to read the paper (rare bliss).
