Since DD was born I have come to understand it will be a while before I get to experience what I used to enjoy again. So I have been trying to think of the simple pleasure to help me get through the day of endless cleaning up sick and doing chores.
I really enjoy washing my hair in a steaming hot shower, especially when someone else is holding the baby so she isn't in the bathroom with me 😅
Or hanging out the washing in the sunshine.

Alcohol

JellyTeapot · 24/05/2017 19:02

A really good cup of coffee. Opening a new packet of coffee. Drinking a whole cup of coffee while it's still hot.

DTs are 4 months old. Coffee is the only thing keeping me going Grin

QuestionARhino · 24/05/2017 19:03

I used to have insomnia so now a real luxury is going to bed ridiculously early like 8pm. Not necessarily to sleep, though sometimes it is, but sometimes just to lie there catching up on social media or something or snuggling the dog. I don't know why but it almost feels wrong to do it and therefore feels oh so right Grin

I realise that with a baby due later this year I'm gonna have to squeeze in as many early nights as possible 😂

LavenderRainbows · 24/05/2017 19:04

Sitting in bed on my day off with a hot cup of tea and MN (I always wake up the same time of day regardless so just make a cuppa and go back to bed) Smile
Even nicer if my 2 cats join me of a morning!

OhMrBadger · 24/05/2017 19:15

Being the first to get into a freshly made bed. There's an unspoken competition between DH and me!
A clean and tidy kitchen.
The first 5 minutes of silence in the house after the DCs have gone to school.
The first signs of autumn.
The first signs of spring!
A new magazine to read in my favourite coffee shop.

nigelsbigface · 24/05/2017 19:19

Walking the dog in the very early morning before work.It was beautiful this morning, so sunny and quiet.

Angelicinnocent · 24/05/2017 19:21

Clean bedding.
My dog sleeping with his head on my knee.
Hot baths when you've been out in the cold for ages.
Cool showers when you've been out in the hot weather.

ShotsFired · 24/05/2017 19:23

A cup of tea in my china cup which is at exactly the right drinking temperature.

A hot shower after a hard workout.

The smell of my cat's paws.

Being in a swimming pool.

ShotsFired · 24/05/2017 19:24

Oh and very early morning bike rides on lovely mornings (any season as long as it is the right weather for that season), when the world is asleep and I have the lanes and tracks to myself.

Lordamighty · 24/05/2017 19:25

Lidl morning rolls - 15p well spent.
Driving, alone, good music on radio, sunny day.
Molton Brown shower gel.
If I can experience all 3 in one day so much the better.

AceholeRimmer · 24/05/2017 19:28

Having a shower on my own!
Looking and tending to my balcony flowers
Making sure I have a tasty meal and treat once they're in bed and I get settled in front of one of my favourite shows (currently Breaking Bad!)
Doing my makeup and nails
Text session with a friend
Listening to music while I get on with stuff i.e. Washing up.. it makes it easier, it brings back memories, it makes me feel like me again and singing makes me happy!
Cuddles and joking around with DP, keeps us close

Arealhumanbeing · 24/05/2017 19:32

I also love a bath and clean bedding. Freshly shaved legs too though.

My espresso machine and some really excellent coffee.

Stack of new magazines.

White wine that's been in the freezer. Lidl Chardonnay works well.

Hogterm · 24/05/2017 19:32

Freshly cut grass smell;
Walking down a leafy lane or in a wood in the sun;
Reading a good book;
Watching my children laugh at something;
Spring when you can smell blossom on the air and everything is that fresh new green colour.

Ragwort · 24/05/2017 19:33

Mostly solitary activities, I should actually bugger off and live in a nice cave!

Me too - I love time alone - had a day off work today and athough I was out and about this morning, chores and a pedicure, the afternoon was spent just lying in the garden with a good book. Having made dinner for DH and DS I am now off for an hour's walk - sounds like good exercise but I just love being alone Grin.

Hogterm · 24/05/2017 19:33

Oh also podcasts whilst washing up and getting a foot massage off my husband when my feet are sore.

pasturesgreen · 24/05/2017 19:37

In no particular order:

  • nice Earl Grey tea
  • breakfast at my favourite cafe
  • a new paperback (if it's an old-school detective novel all the better)
  • doing my nails
  • cross stitching
  • reading rubbish gossipy magazines
  • visiting my local second hand bookshop
  • pasta
  • taking time for a face mask
  • going to bed very early with a book
GoldSpot · 24/05/2017 19:43

A slice of homemade cake.
Sitting in the sunshine
Posh shower gel
A glossy magazine
good 'page-turner' book (I no longer have the concentration span for worthy books).
A good to series/box set
6Music - it has saved my sanity since becoming a mum!

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 24/05/2017 19:44

Freshly shaved legs gliding into fresh cotton bedsheets theres just something about the way the fabric feels against your skin when theyre freshly shaved , cuddling babies , getting into a warm house when its freezing outside , long walks in the countryside

toffeeboffin · 24/05/2017 19:49

Washing and nicely blow drying hair.
Fresh, hot coffee
Went to the garden centre today and did some tubs with some lovely flowers
Driving with windows down
Park with DC'S
Finally fitting into my nice clothes again
Dd's little face lighting up when she sees me
DS insisting I sing him his bedtime song

Lemonnaise · 24/05/2017 19:57

-Fresh bedding after a bath or shower
-Watching trash shows in bed when OH is on nightshifts
-Being all cosy in the house when the weather is awful outside
-Zoflora smells after a cleaning session
-Finding money in a coat pocket that I'd forgotten about
-Seeing DC get really excited about something.

Molton brown shower gel

Xmasbaby11 · 24/05/2017 20:28

I need to listen to True Crime podcasts! Can anyone recommend one?

TexasPete · 24/05/2017 20:29

I'm heavily pregnant. Right now, my small pleasures are:

Polo mints (they stop my morning sickness in its tracks)

The half hour in the afternoon I let my two year old use the iPad. She lies with her head on my knee - only time I can be sure she'll remain in one place so i can have a wee doze!

My weekly avocado

Newly washed car

When DD puts her wee arms around my neck and says "let's have a cuddle mummy"

The way we laugh together when we imitate Oaken from Frozen's family waving from the sauna 😂 It absolutely cracks her up
