That Theresa May and the Tory's have somehow orchestrated the Manchester bombings for political gains. I keep seeing statuses and posts on social media pertaining to this and it's making me sick.

At a time of immense tragedy such as this I couldn't give two shits about political point scoring. Children have died. People have lost parents, siblings, aunts and uncles. Children hospitalised will never be the same again.

AIBU to want certain people to keep their nasty and divisive politics out of this tragedy?

Is it all questioning of authority you believe to be inappropriate, or just when lives have been lost? If anything we should be asking more questions at a time like this. If it had been my dd I'd want answers.

Some of these conspiracy should really see themselves as others see them rather than as a PP said somehow cleverer + special in their nasty little corner of the internet . Everyone else thinks they are both stupid, dull and unhinged.

Questioning is fine, and necessary for society to function. It helps if the questioners understand what they are talking about, as many intelligent commentators do, on both sides. These people,are just stupid, nasty and partisan. Tina Buckley is about their level.

There's a place for healthy scepticism. That's scepticism based on something, not shit people have just invented. It's possible there might be reason to suspect this is a false flag incident when we have more information: perhaps not likely, but possible. But ordinary people with no access to information other than google aren't in a position to be able to do that, at the moment. We just don't know enough. So by definition, no scepticism at this stage can be healthy because it can't have any basis.

Frankly I think a more plausible explanation than healthy scepticism is people often prefer explanations that are convenient for their worldview. So some right wingers last year didn't like the idea that Jo Cox had been killed by a person who espoused views not a great deal more extreme than some of the more anti-immigrant tabloids. Some left wingers would prefer the idea that the more familiar evil of the Tories rather than brown skinned anti-Westerners are responsible for Manchester. Some Muslims can't accept that 9/11 was perpetrated by people who thought they were doing it in the name of Islam (I know there are lots of reasons for 9/11 disbelief, this is just one). Gun obsessives think Sandy Hook was fake because the alternative is that it might not be a good idea to allow people such free access to firearms.

So quite often, refusal to accept the narrative is the opposite of healthy scepticism. More about choosing the explanation that challenges your worldview least.

Of course authority should be questioned, when there is Evidence of a cover-up or inappropriate behavior.

As was pointed out by a PP, it is JTAC who make the call on the threat level being raised, not the PM.

I would further point out that since Bataclan and the Brussels bombings, armed troops and police are a familiar sight in Brussels; at the airport, at Bruparck, and it's an extra level of reassurance.

There have been armed police at St Pancras for a while, and I regularly see them at Dunkirk as well when I come back to the UK by ferry, as well as having my car searched by armed troops at Dunkirk.

If there are extra layers of security, then why not use them? It's for our protection as opposed to being for political point scoring.

It's right wingers when the event concerned would be more convenient and/or easier to accept for them if it were a false flag. Not so much otherwise, and the left aren't immune either. In this instance, the stated narrative of a terrorist attack from an ISIS supporter is not inconvenient for UKIP types, so they have more incentive to accept it than to challenge it. When it was right wing terrorism last year, the opposite was true. You can flip that on it's head for people who are at the more loony left end of the spectrum.

Plus there are a few people who just think everything's the illuminati or whatever, regardless of any political views they have.

Why would I not like what I find when I have already searched and I know the answer beforehand. Now I really would be stupid to pose a question I didn't know the answer to. That could backfire, erm, dramatically. It is just telling that after all your bluff and bravado you don't want to answer a simple question.
