Dark concerns

For reasons I won't go into -DH I'm looking at you- our laundry was "darked on" overnight.
AIBU to consider one of the following remedial actions?:

a) throw the clothes away and buy replacements. It was a washing line full, all in very good condition so would be costly.

b) invest in a tanning sun bed (saw a used one for £2.5k on eBay) and use it to bring the laundry back to the "light". Could be a good back up in the event he does this shit again.

c) LTB.

I'll go with the highest vote, I'm really not precious about it. Thanks.

Yep! LTB
My washing was darked on last week. There were spider willy trails all over it the next day :-)

Kill the darked on clothing with fire, then throw your DH out to get darked on too.

Dulcimena · 23/05/2017 16:11

He says rats run up and down the washing line at night..... I'm not saying they don't, it just seems really unlikely.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 23/05/2017 16:12

I didn't know that was a thing.

I did the laundry yesterday (well, ehm, one load) and also left it outside over the night.

I didn't know anybody cared about that Grin

leghoul · 23/05/2017 16:27

Maybe this man's clothes were left out overnight unfortunate incident

Paddingtonbabies · 23/05/2017 16:36

I know that this is supposed to be funny but I really don't understand why anyone would have a problem with clothes that have been on the line overnight.

What on earth do you think is going to happen to them?

You wear coats, shoes, jumpers, jeans out in the dark right? You don't rewash them all every time do you?

Gingernaut · 23/05/2017 16:41

Wash it again with in wash stain remover and carefully dry it in the light/indoors.

Let this be a lesson to you.

The dark is watching. The dark is waiting for clean washing.

PortiaCastis · 23/05/2017 16:43

Obviously LTB twas he who got the laundry darked on so he has to go.
Maybe he could return when he's seen the light

leghoul · 23/05/2017 16:53

arhh

picklemepopcorn · 23/05/2017 16:57

You must wash the underwear again and - very important- tumble dry it. You don't want to get pregnant by a spider or a badger.

The rest will be ok if put on the line twice, on two sunny days. That should be enough dark antidote.

As for DH... Make him stand duty overnight by the line, watching out for any nocturnal activities, and getting darker on. That'll learn him.

P1nkP0ppy · 23/05/2017 17:03

As someone who regularly hangs washing out to dry overnight I'm clearly beyond salvation Hmm
I'll just get on with having spider sillies, fox whotsits (how the hell do they balance on the line?) and bat snot (or whatever it was) on my clothes adds that certain je ne sais pas to my attire

picklemepopcorn · 23/05/2017 17:11

Actually, do you live close enough to the OP with a bat in her sink? Maybe her bat Tony Bowel could help your DH guard the line from darking.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 23/05/2017 17:15

We had to read The Black Spider in middle school. I'm pretty sure some of us obviously not me gave spiders suspicious looks after that... Grin

But the spider killing a snake is cool. (I hate snakes)

Paddingtonbabies Wearing clothes in the dark gives magical protective powers from the dangers of dark. Nothing is going to interfere with them while you're in them but the whole of MN knows that unspeakable things happen to laundry left to its own devices outside overnight. Just the least of them is spiders dragging their willies over your defenceless undercrackers potentially impregnating you with hundreds of eight legged offspring all of whom will imprint upon you at birth and follow you forever.

Apart from that night cooties will infect it, badgers will wank on it, vampires will 'borrow' it for a night on the town, foxes will use it as spit rags while playing football and slugs, snails and owls will shit on it.

Really not worth the risk

creepysleepy · 23/05/2017 18:41

Well I don't think you should be posting about it on here for a a start.

Unless you want a daily mail sadface picture of you in front of your laundry.

Is that what you want op?

I think you should get this thread removed for privacy reasons.

Fantastic Grin

Think I missed a trick - totally should have gone for the DM sad face...

Leave it out in the sun all day to impregnate it with shiny sunbeams.

Or just wear it as it is. I do this all the time and nothing terrible has happened to me (backs away from thread slowly)

Bluetrews25 · 23/05/2017 19:48

Unicorn dust will fix it. Harvested during a full moon. Sprinkle liberally during the traditional dance naked at midnight. Then bring it in and bake in the oven at 200C for 12 mins.
HTH.

user1473878824 · 23/05/2017 19:49

Having just learnt of washing being darked on from the bin bags thread I am horrified you could even take the risk of this happening. The only solution is a bonfire and a whole new wardrobe.

FreeSpiritJen · 23/05/2017 19:49

Never heard this expression ever in my life. 'Darked on??? Confused

bibbitybobbityyhat · 23/05/2017 19:58

Is "darked on" a Mumsnet phrase. Like been Wendied ?

I don't mind leaving my washing out if I'm too lazy to bring it in if the weather forecast is guaranteed dry all night.

FeedTheSharkAndItWillBite · 23/05/2017 19:59

Wha is Wendied? Wendy is such a lovely name. Noooo!! Shock
