Aibu to take dd back to docs for this molluscum thingie?

My dd is 6 and last November got a spot on her leg which my gp said was molluscum? And made me feel a bit foolish for going. He said it would go and to ignore it.

She now has loads and I'm thinking of taking her back - I'm s bit nervous of going back tbh I felt like a real time waster last time but Dds leg look awful!

Pic included for clarification of leg hideousness.

Aibu to take dd back to docs for this molluscum thingie?

My DS had it..It can last for about 18 months, my DS had it for just under a year. I wanted to documented incase it didn't clear .

There isn't much they can do tbh unless any are infected. When they go angry then that tends to mean that that one is going to go away. Dd had lots of them on her arm and face

Molluscum spreads and there is nothing the GP can do for it unless infected. You just have to wait for the immune system to beat it

My daughters have just cleared up after 2 years! I took her back to the docs about 6 months ago and was just told they'd go eventually.

Try tea tree cream or sudocrem to keep them under control. Doesn't stop them but does seem to stop them getting quite so red and angry.

Both my sons had it over a four-year period (they each had it for two years and my younger son caught it just as his older brother's disappeared) - it's not nice, but it's best to leave it if you can as it hurts to squeeze the spots and it leaves a scar. However, it looks as if your DD's might be infected and/or have eczema. It would be worth letting the GP have a look in case she needs any lotion. One of my sons got eczema around some of the molluscum, so we put steroid cream on the skin.

I've had moloscum and it spread rapidly. I was pregnant at the time, so apparently my immune system was low.

The doctor didn't do anything except give me a diagnosis. I tried everything! Eventually, in desperation I started squeezing and picking at them, which I've heard kick starts your immune system into fighting them. I also took Thuja capsules. They cleared up quickly after this.

It's a virus and the doctor can't give you anything. They can infected with bacteria in which case you would get antibiotics to clear that up, but it still wouldn't get rid of the molluscum.

The one at the bottom if your photo might be infected (it looks very red). DD had and infected one on her stomach and the doctor gave us antibiotic cream

I am sorry to tell you one of my DC had it for three and a half years! One of the other got one single spot which went away within two weeks.

My dd had it and it became infected- looks like that might have happened here too. They can prescribe antibiotic cream.

Ds had it for over 3 years too. Its only just cleared recently. Oddly enough after I started giving him multivitamins every morning and using a tea tree shower gel.

You can get Molludab from your gp if its really bad but it is usually a case of sitting it out.

My DD had it for nearly two years from 4 to 6, I think she got it from the floats at her swimming lessons. It drove me nuts, nothing touched it and it was in a place that could easily be seen. One day I randomly thought I'd try my pixie glow tonic on it because it had cleared up some stubborn spots on my face. I experimented on one patch first just to be safe and scientific and they all cleared up within a couple of weeks! Treated all the rest and totally gone within a month. I just dabbed some on every evening on a cotton pad, didn't sting or anything. I so wish I'd done it two years earlier. It's about a year later now and they've not come back. Not good medical advice or anything but if you decide to try it I hope it works for you... molluscum is horrible stuff.

DS had this for about 3 years. They got infected often and we had to put loads of Fucidin cream on them... still left him with scars though. Like you the GP kept assuring us they'd go away eventually, but it just got worse instead of better. I finally insisted on being referred to a dermatologist- who was genuinely shocked by the scarring. He spent about an hour freezing them off - and DS''s quality of life has improved enormously since they never returned (been nearly a year now).

Yeah my ds had it for about 1.5/2 years too.

His started with an odd spot and then suddenly they increased and they went soon after that.

I'd perhaps ask pharmacist for something and they'll advise if you need to see GP

One word - Moludab.

Got rid of the spots within a month. Worth every penny

My ds had molluscum and it slowly spread. He swims often so was self conscious about it. I googled and found a herbal remedy. It cleared it up within a couple of weeks and the spots responded immediately - they literally dried up overnight. It was amazing. The stuff you want is called zymaderm molluscum from a company called naturopathix. I honestly couldn't recommend it more highly.

Just buy some molludab over the counter in Boots and get it sorted out. No messing about. No leaving it for months to get worse. Used on both my Dd.

I swear by colloidal silver spray. Dds went in less than a fortnight. Someone told us to use it... very effective.

Ok I'm going to try and get this molludab. She has them all oh that leg on her side and her shoulder now. People are starting to ask about it especially with the bleeding!

They flare up as they leave, I reckon. I'd put a colloidal plaster on anything which bleeds. They are intensely itchy, get scratched then disappear.

NHS website doesn't advise using the medication on it as it can damage the surrounding skin.
DD had them for quite a while all up her leg and stomach but she picked at hers and it spread them. She also suffers with eczema which flared up around them. DS left his alone and didn't have them very long at all.

DS had them for a good few months (it's years ago so can't remember). They were just hanging around then all if a sudden got really red and angry then vanished.

He has no scarring at all.

Glad I've seen this..took my son doctors with it the other day, doc said wait for it to go why don't they suggest anything else?!

Because it's viral and nothing is really proven to work on them
