In thinking the hotel were assholes?

So we stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn last night in our way back from holiday.

Dh goes out to pick up take away so I order myself a glass of wine from room service.

It comes, I sign the cheque (and tip the person well) and then ten minutes later I get a call from a very amused dh saying he'd got a frantic call from the hotel saying 'some women not known to you was trying to purchase wine from your room'.

When he told them I'm his wife and asked what the problem was it turns out I signed the bill with my maiden name and that pulled up a red flag as it wasn't the same as the name the room was booked under which wasn't 'protocol'. HmmAnd that next time he'd have to order or sign!!

I know this is a small deal in the big scheme of things but for some reason I'm really fucking annoyed. It's pretty common for wives to have different surnames, or for a couple to not even be married.

As I said we stay in hotels at least once every two weeks and nobody has ever asked the details of who is staying. Just the id of the person checking in and how many key cards we want. This is mostly in the States, maybe it's different.

Why do people feel the need to 'expose' posters on mumsnet or pick their stories apart? It's really fucking tiresome. Angry

You're very angry about a lot of things aren't you? People doing their jobs...MNers asking questions and discussing an issue which you raised. All on the receiving end of your ire.

MrsFloppy · 18/05/2017 18:43

Yes my piss is boiling. Hmm

Well there's a lot of angry faces and expletives and insults for someone who is experiencing zen-like calm.

So back atcha with the Biscuit

I'm not overly feminist

You don't overly believe in women having equal rights? Yet you're going on about 'it's 2017'.

Jesus.

CricketRuntAndRashers · 18/05/2017 20:23

Mrs

But there are so many different kinds of feminism. It's an extremely broad spectrum.

That doens't mean the OP believes women shouldn't have equal rights...

It's nothing to do with credit card fraud. This is how it works: you order room service, they deliver it, you sign a name on the bill, they take the bill to the room service till and post the charge to your room number at which point the till communicates with the front of house system and sends a message back to the till and little box pops up on screen with the name of the person who made the booking. If it doesn't match the name signed on the bill they either ignore it or they query it depending on hotel policy (that's policy, not 'protocol'). They were doing their job. Get over it.

53rdWay · 18/05/2017 21:35

There's querying it and there's ''some woman not known to you was trying to purchase wine from your room", though...

grannytomine · 18/05/2017 21:41

It seems odd that they would tell your husband he didn't know you.

SurfBored73 · 18/05/2017 21:55

But the OP hasn't confirmed that the exact words were 'some woman'. I find it highly unlikely they used that term.
