50p army indeed? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/50_Cent_Party

It's obvious, but remember to check the parties manifestos and make sure you are voting for the policies you agree with, and not just being influenced by the opinions of others and the politics of inevitability.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 15/05/2017 23:29

Momentum have certainly made their presence clear on news comment sections easily identified by their blind adoration of a certain person and their absolute hatred for another

brasty · 15/05/2017 23:29

Because it is a cheap way to influence people.

blerp · 15/05/2017 23:31

In post democracy western civilisation...

...where saying stuff to people and them making their own minds up whether it's bollocks = rigging elections.

....but only if they make up their minds to vote against the left wing option of course

CormorantDevouringTime · 15/05/2017 23:33

Does anyone else think there are Momentum shills on the "how much do you spend on your holidays?" thread spreading envy and discontent? Grin

PortiaCastis · 15/05/2017 23:36

Nah that's a tory plant stealth boasting

KeiraKnightleyActsWithHerTeeth · 15/05/2017 23:39

Not a doubt. Who was that poster during the Brexit referendum and the US election who was basically on here 24/7 (quite literally posting every single hour of the day) spouting undying love for Trump and Leave? They are the reason I stopped engaging in political debates on Mumsnet last year. Talk about paid to drown out.

annandale · 15/05/2017 23:41

Most of the 'party hack' type posts seem so obvious that I assume they can't be, IYSWIM. That was what always got me about claig. I presume he/she's still here under a different name. Same with longfingernails who I haven't seen for weeks but who can take me from 0-60 in rage and misery in a single sentence. I would absolutely love to know who she/he is. Dominic Cummings? Boris Johnson's wife?

MagicTractor · 15/05/2017 23:42

They are all on the baby name threads saying have you thought about Jeremy? It's due a come back

CormorantDevouringTime · 15/05/2017 23:42

I cannot believe that any political professional was paying Claig to do that. He/she had the authentic light of self-inspired mania.

CormorantDevouringTime · 15/05/2017 23:44

Lfn might possibly be a professional but I can't imagine her convincing anyone; she wasn't exactly warm and approachable.

dotandstripe · 15/05/2017 23:48

I know a handful of people whose entire social media presence lately has been about posting Labour propaganda 5 times a day. They are certainly not being paid for it, just seem to thrive on it. The more hateful the better. Several have posted a meme of May being held at gun point, I guess they've forgotten about Jo Cox.

squishysquirmy · 16/05/2017 00:00

I don't understand the assumption that all paid trolls would be too slick and professional for us to spot them - if they were that smart, wouldn't they have a better job?

brasty · 16/05/2017 00:02

I have quite a few Corbyn supporters and anti Corbyn supporters as face book friends. None of them do that dotandstripe.

NoLotteryWinYet · 16/05/2017 00:14

Yeah I've got plenty of Corbyn lovers on my fb but none have posted May being shot - just lots of anyone who votes Tory is evil, nice people don't vote Tory - here's a picture of May looking like the baddie from Star Wars and JC amusing kids.

Personally reckon a lot of the hardline JC supporters are desperate and worried about the Tory landslide and that explains their relentlessness more than being paid.

ayyylmao · 16/05/2017 03:24

I got accused of being a paid Trump supporter because I dared to question what someone was claiming about him.

It's probably nowhere near as bad as you think but I'm sure they exist.

Lweji · 16/05/2017 06:16

That's what happens when you drop on the 1000 000 th Trump thread with jewels like this:

"Can someone give me a list of things Trump has done in the last 6 months which warrants all of this hysteria?"

Then follow up with a series of ironic posts instead of actually discussing the points.

Why are you here? And do you realise that you post like a troll?

TheNaze73 · 16/05/2017 06:59

I would take more than a load of blustering, fluffy nonsense to make me change my vote. I think it's appeal must be limited

FuckYeah · 16/05/2017 08:03

YANBU.. wish MN would give us a 50p emoticon. I have noticed this partic in anything Brexit or Labour Party based but also in discussion of products and even schools.

You can tell the 50p gang have been told to come on and post to 'women'- they post like we are hive mind sheeple, because that is their view of what 'women' are.

It's funny when they carp on about 'left- wing bias on here hoping to move the framing or whatever it is. Own goal.

I mean, goodness, angry posters, this does seem odd. Why MIGHT some posters on the UK's biggest forum aimed at women and parents seem to be so irritatingly resistant to wholehearted agreement with you about Tory policies....?' Grin

I'd want my 50ps back if I was paying them.

londonrach · 16/05/2017 08:09

Yanbu. Noticed alot about labour too. They about to implode so no way fit to govern! This is the worse election ever as theres no choice.

squishysquirmy · 16/05/2017 08:43

"Personally reckon a lot of the hardline JC supporters are desperate and worried about the Tory landslide"

Not just hardline JC supporters who are worried about that! Wink

JanetBrown2015 · 16/05/2017 09:17

I haven't particularly notied it on the political thread. I am very pro Conservative. I have been asking people to vote, no matter who for as I think it's important (although I do hope they will vote Conservative) and I am definitely not paid. In fact I should have started my real work a minute ago but distracted myself (unpaid) on here. Corbyn is a good man as is May. I don't think his policies or Blairite policies either are right for Britain nor do I want the UK broken up by SNP. I have not really noticed any comments that look like pro Corbyn or pro May planted comments by possibly paid people.

I know some labour voters cannot imagine anyone would support Conservatives politices (even though they are right for Britain of course) but that does not mean the Tories are planted or paid. I do see some very committed socialits on mumsnet and good luck to them. I want women to have strong political views rather than just worrying about what shade of nail varnish to wear.

53rdWay · 16/05/2017 09:24

I want women to have strong political views rather than just worrying about what shade of nail varnish to wear.

And nobody's disagreeing with that, but that's not why there's suspicion about paid posters.

YokoReturns · 16/05/2017 09:30

lweji do you remember Claig's 'I've voted' post? It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on here. Apparently everyone at Claig's polling station was beaming and nodding at each other and shouting, 'FREEDOM!' whilst punching the air. Must have looked demented.

FuckYeah · 16/05/2017 09:32

^^ Yeah agree. That's usually what women post about. Nail varnish.

Lweji · 16/05/2017 10:16

YokoReturns Grin

I'm kind of sad they're not around anymore. I'd love to read what they think of Trump now.
