Just saw an interview with this woman and how irritating is she? I thought Diane Abbot was bad but she is dreadful!

OP posts:
MajesticWhine · 14/05/2017 23:42

I thought she was thoroughly unprofessional and lacking in self control by swearing on live TV.

tygr · 15/05/2017 00:00

I'm not a labour voter but I like her. Each to their own.

Zampa · 15/05/2017 05:57

Failing your 11 plus means you're thick.

This is absolutely why grammar schools shouldn't return. Telling 10/11 year olds that they're thick for failing one exam is appalling, especially when some are tutored and others are not. I know a postgraduate from one of the best universities in the country who failed and she's super bright.

PetalMettle · 15/05/2017 06:53

A number of posters have asked where are the serious members of the plp. The answer is keeping their hands clean and away from this mess. Sadiq Khan and Andy burnham have both left the plp altogether to avoid association and the best labour performer from the most recent opposition spell (Iain Wright who skewered jd sports and Phillip Green) isn't even standing this time.

NigellasGuest · 15/05/2017 07:05

Failing your 11 plus means you're thick - absolutely not true. Saying things like that could mean you are short of intelligenxe though.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/05/2017 07:12

PetalMettle I agree. Let's not also forget that good MPs such as Blenkinsop and Dugher aren't standing this time and Blenkinsop openly stated the reason why was the leadership.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 15/05/2017 07:18

Of course failing your 11 plus doesn't mean you're thick what an awful thing to say

It's more likely they haven't been taught up to a high enough standard to pass the 11 plus

Or are the children who attend schools who have high levels of passing it is just some strange coincidence that they happen to be more intelligent

Calling children thick Hmm what an intelligent observation

FuckYeah · 15/05/2017 07:21

Seriously this thread feels like it comes straight from a Tory HQ random threads generator Hmm

People are complaining that Emily Thornberry is out of touch while we have a Tory Prime Minister who wants to bring back foxhunting. And the Tories are cutting school budgets and starving the NHS of the funds while happy to splash unknown amounts of billions of taxpayers cash on a needlessly hard Brexit that is going to damage all of economically.
It's prettty clear who better represents normal people's interests.

UnderneaththeArchers · 15/05/2017 07:21

Michael Fallon does talk bollocks though. He is specifically wheeled on by the Conservatives to lie through his teeth because he is rather good at it. The Tories call him 'chemical alley Fallon'. Frankly I was rather delighted when someone punctured his balloon a little.

FuckYeah · 15/05/2017 07:23

And the 11 plus exam is not recognised as a test of whether a child is 'thick' Hmm or not.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/05/2017 07:23

It's prettty clear who better represents normal people's interests.

Who exactly are normal people Hmm

FuckYeah · 15/05/2017 07:24

Er.. the vast majority in this country who rely on state education and the NHS to look after us.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 15/05/2017 07:25

Yes the vast majority who won't be voting Labour in a few weeks time

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/05/2017 07:35

Corbyn is so 'in touch' with 'normal people' he has just employed Andrew Murray to head up his election team. Hmm

Sostenueto · 15/05/2017 08:01

Real democracy in this country is almost dead. If May gets in with a huge majority there will be no NHS within 10 years. Labour voters who vote Tory in this coming election better start looking round to see if they can afford private health insurance. You will find you cannot afford it. Your children who are not in the top 20% of the country educationally will suffer 3rd grade education. While your at it you might consider looking for an insurance company that will cover your elderly parents care costs. So while you pay for health/care costs, tutor fees for your kids to pass grammar exams you can visit the food banks to help you out. This will be your future under May. Might I suggest people take a minute off from insulting each other and think about that scenario.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 15/05/2017 08:07

*if May gets in their will be no NHS in 10 years! Yes there will.

Thormbury is typical of the labour front bench, patronising irritating and light weight.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/05/2017 08:12

Labour voters who vote Tory in this coming election better start looking round to see if they can afford private health insurance.

That's it, blame the 'electorate'. How about blaming Labour for not offering a viable, believable alternative?

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 15/05/2017 08:20

I am a labour voter and am voting Tory!

I blame the idiots who recently joined the party and voted in a ridiculous leader who couldn't be arsed to support remain properly and hadn't held this government to account.

May is really the only one capable of leading Brexit talks as Corbyn would be utterly hopeless.

Don't blame us blame yourselves

makeourfuture · 15/05/2017 08:24

While your at it you might consider looking for an insurance company that will cover your elderly parents care costs.

I imagine for most costs will not allow for this option (the premiums would be astronomical). Another suggestion is seeing if there are any local medical/end of life care courses.

makeourfuture · 15/05/2017 08:28

I am a labour voter and am voting Tory!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you vote Tory, I think that makes you a Tory voter?

Might as well own it.

Sostenueto · 15/05/2017 08:29

The NHS is already in part being privatised. I look beyond the mediocre MPs of today and try to look at policies after sorting out the lies and spin. I know that May planned an election from day1. I know she wants to destroy the labour party to gain complete power. I know that Mays majority will make no difference to EU negotiations because every country in the EU is equal around the table despite their majority at home and was written into their constitution at the very beginning. I know that the Great Repeal Bill is Mays real focus and why she needs to obliterate all opposition. Here is the ultimate power she craves to push through hundreds of her right wing bills such as grammar schools etc to benefit the few. She is doing a good job at diverting the public from the real target. Unfortunately she may succeed in duping the very gullible electorate and in doing so it will spell the end of democracy as we know it.

derxa · 15/05/2017 08:35

will spell the end of democracy as we know it. Ridiculous

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/05/2017 08:39

I know she wants to destroy the labour party to gain complete power.

Corbyn doesn't need help to do it. Him and his leadership team are doing that by themselves.

Unfortunately she may succeed in duping the very gullible electorate and in doing so it will spell the end of democracy as we know it.

Well that's laughable considering that Corbyn's new head of his election campaign was until recently member of the Communist Party.

By 'gullable'you mean don't agree with you. How very dare they.

PerkingFaintly · 15/05/2017 08:46

I don't think it's fair to call the electorate very gullible - but I agree May and some of the press are working very hard at avoidance and diversion.

Which means the electorate has to work very hard at unpacking what's being said - and not said. And most of us don't have the time, energy or info to hand amid everyday life.

So it's not that people are gullible - we're often aware there's something wrong with the picture. It's what to do about it that's the challenge.

silkybear · 15/05/2017 08:50

Ha ha ha another 'lifelong' labour voter starting a thread to slag off labour as much as possible. Love the IRA reference and the claim that JC ran someone over while in the back of the car. Care to explain how a back seat passenger runs someone over? Grin
